N Lorewalkers|QID|31367|N|Lorewalkers faction is earned by visiting various points of interest around Pandaria. This guide assumes you start in your factions city in Vale of Eternal Blossoms and will take you to all of those places. It also assumes you are level 90 and have trained flying in Pandaria. Some steps may already be checked off. They are points of interest that you visited while leveling. The first stop in a new zone I have also included the zone name to help find the green dot.|
N Brewfathers|QID|31367|N|This guide will also guide you to the spots for the Ledgend of the Brewfathers Achievement. While it is unrelated, it is similar in that it requires flying to points of interest that are along the same route as the Lorewalker points of interest, so you may as well do it.|

Lorewalkers – updatedTitle says it all 🙂 Made the changes Ludo suggested. Added some other comments as well. For some reason, my hunter wasn’t offered “the lorewalkers” I don’t think I did it earlier, but maybe I did (… I know it was my intention not to…) Also it wasn’t checked off as tho I had done it The isqusetcomplete() presumably didn’t show it complete. So I put a LEAD tag on it and noted that in the comments. When I first tried to get it, I realized I hadn’t done the last two steps in the white tiger chain, so I thought maybe they were pre-reqs. Did them, still no quest. Checked Wholly, it doesn’t show any pre-reqs. I would say I did it, except A)it wasn’t checked off when I opened the guide and B) I just turned 90 on Sat or sun, you would think I could remember and C) Wholly didn’t show it done.
DONT STOP EVER !!!!!LOL, so simple in restrospect. At least I got some ears for the next Darkmoon Faire.
Lorewalkersfixing… with the defiant.. you are supposed to keep flying 😉 DONT STOP EVER 😛 I can see how it would get ugly. Ill have to go map a set of coordinates to use for the CS… maybe my brand new lvl 90 will prove useful for that. Yes, I finally did it Saturday, I got my hunter to 90!
Just got the Lorewalkers Acheivement …Just got the Lorewalkers Acheivement yesterday.
Everything was quite smooth with two exceptions both having to do with Caves:
1) Amber Vault: I think a CS tag would help here. I kept trying to find the entrance and was using the wrong coord.
2) The Defiant: I think this could use the coordinates of the entrace and the path inside. Took a wrong turn and got killed. Then tried to fly in and take the top tunnel and aggroed a ton of stuff. Finally got the acheivement, but there was probably an easier way.
3) Valley of the Emperors: I think a CS tag would help here. In general, I think you want CS tags whenevever you have more than one coord.
Re: LorewalkersOh. Darn. I know what the problem is. ACH tags are evaluated when the next step is being picked, not when the guide is being loaded.Yeah, Lorewalkers and Lost+Found were excellent tests. I am sorry you had to wait till I leveled a toon for me to be able to see the problems. In retrospect, the changes were very minor.PS: The Rank thing has always misbehaved for me. I need to whack that code again.
Lorewalkers@Ludo, I tried your latest fix (11/5/12?) and it seems to be working great. I didnt get to the end of the guide yet, but I did notice one thing that that was not how I expected. When you open (or reset) the guide it does not check off the steps you already have done (the way it would for quests) it does check them off as you come to them. As in you are looking at the guide pane and you see step 1, step 2 etc all unchecked. You know you have actually done step 2 previously. You go to step 1 and complete the objective (click on the lore scroll, get the toast update) and the step checks off as it should, the next step will then also get checked off, and step 3 will be mapped for you to go to. Its not a problem, just a little odd/differant than the way quests behave. To clarify this is only for items with the ACH tag in the lorewalkers guide, the steps that are actually quests, check off as I would expect. I was thinking about adding the lost and found items (the rare ones, not the commons) in as rank 3? Anyone have an opinion? there are a fair amount of crossover (location wise) on them and since you can’t have two guides loaded at once?PS. this fix also fixed the lost and found guide, so It is good to go too. I’m sure some comments could be improved, maybe a couple of steps could be switched for more efficient traveling… but at least it now works. I didn’t check the rank tag as It didnt occur to me (my bad)
Well, the firelands guide wasWell, the firelands guide was my first real attempt at a guide, so I probably made lots of beginner’s mistakes, like using the evil |O| tag 😛
step skipping logic aka the |O| tagso, i looked at the firelands guide… (gee how did I get 4 chars thru the firelands without a guide??? ) I noticed A steps list QID’s for multiple quests, in one step, then each C/T step is in the guide, but only the C/T steps show that have QID’s in your log. Should that work in the leveling module too? As in, a subsequent step won’t show up until the quest is accepted. Currently that isn’t the behavior I am seeing. The quest log details are only there if the quest is in your log. but the Step itself still shows in the guide (whether or not you have the quest)Also, in unrelated news, you should probably check out the recorder module. I tried to use it yesterday (after not using it since 9/15 or so) and it was autocreating extra steps, (which I couldnt delete) not letting me open the save dialog (where you Ctrl A/Ctrl C to save it to an outside file) and the step focus wasnt advancing. (i.e. the steps were checking off, but the highlighted line wasnt moving so after doing a few steps you couldnt see the current step you were on until you scroll down and click on that step)
Re: The Evil |O| TagI have found the places to use an |O| tag to be very rare. In fact, I keep on getting rid of them in places where I did use them.K Unga Fish Getter|L|80827|M|45.31,85.17|N|Be sure and loot these at least until you get the item to start the quest.| U Confusing Treasure Map|QID|QID|30675|U|80827|N|Get that buried Hozen Treasure!|A Buried Hozen Treasure|QID|30675|U|80827|M|43.81,85.41|N|From Confusing Treasure Map – looted off of an Unga.Take a look at the Firelands or the Netherdrake guides; they are good examples. Now there were bugs back in the summer which Estelyen worked around using |O| tags, but I fixed those and then the |O| tags all went away.
|O| tagIm think the |o| is not working right in many situations. I was recently trying to use it for quests that start from items. (which is a use listed in the addon writing guide) . The behaviour I was expecting is for the A line to not show until you get the drop. Instead, it shows, with the use item beside it, but of course nothing happens when you click it, because you don’t have the item yet. (this is the same situation as in the Lorewalker guide, ) At first I thought maybe it only works in the leveling guide, but when I tested it… it doesnt work there either. The places I can think of that I have used it and it hasnt worked is:
Krassarang – Both factopm guides in Unga Ingoo section

Thats a bit differant usage, so I don’t know if it should work, here is a sample of what doesnt work:
;N Dailies|QID|31270|N|The next quests are dailies that require level 90. Skip them if you are not interested or if you are not level 90 yet(this applies to all dailies you come across in Dread Waste, not just these here/now). re:Lorewalkers guideErr, yeah, I got a fix for this. It is kinda embarassing, actually.A step with the |O| tag is skipped if you are not on the quest. But I would suspect the “T” step would show up even if you were not on the quest.I’ll get there. I’ll check in my updates so you can play them and see if they work better for you.
re:Lorewalkers guidehehe. good deal, cuz I really didnt know where to go to fix it. I just got my first char to 90 yesterday also (I was using my daughter’s before when I needed a l90 Its ok.. she is a minor, I’m allowed to… sorta…) Also, shouldnt the |O| in the steps to accept the quests from the item mailed to you make it so those steps don’t show up until you take the item out of your mailbox?
RE: lorewalkers guideOK. Now that I have a level 90 toon, I can debug this.Top of my queue!
RE: lorewalkers guideI checked it out. unfortunantly Im out of lvl 90s atm, so I couldn’t do the quests that the guide starts with. But, it appears that this did not fix the problem. In fact it made it worse, because now the step doesnt check off ever (except manually)How I tested:travelled to one of the lore spots that had an item I had not yet examined with that characterscrolled to the step for that spot in the guide. clicked on the itemobserved that the step in the guide remained unchecked (a change in behaviour-previously would get a grey check.)it did not map the next step, but that is possibly due to unfinished steps inbetween. (no tom tom arrow appeared) edit to add. I checked off the intermiediate steps with grey skipstep checks and it still does not move to parse and map the next step.I reset the guide and the step was still unchecked (also a change in behaviour)edit to add… the first and last step of the guide are auto checking off on reset. (perhaps because I have no QID on them?) Added QID’s those steps work fine now. Just something to note. if a step has no QID it will autocheck off as a grey unremoveable checkmark. (used QID|99999 for the final step since I didnt want it to check off before you get to read it.)
Re: Lorewalkers guideOh, Yeah, I forgot I put that feature in there :-).BTW, I have checked in a patch to WoWPro_Achievements/WoWPro_Achievements_Parser.lua that should address the grey problem. It used to be that steps with an ACH tag that was true were marked as skipped. I changed the logic a bit and set it to complete the steps instead.Try it out.
Lorewalkers guideAll of the F steps. They autocompleted with grey check which I couldnt remove or change to gold, when I would click on the step (to try to remove it) it would move to the next line and chage my waypoint. After awhile, I quit doing that and instead just clicked on map coordinates for each next step.I plotted all the spots on a map and thrn went thru it (and of course found some to change, since it was a hand sketched map). I am going to fix the errors I found then run thru it again.I will have better feedback after I run thru it a 2nd time. (which should be later today.)Other things I noticed. 1) The |O| tag doesnt work the way I thought? I expected the lines (with the |O|) tag wouldn’t show up until I got the items out of my mailbox, But they and their cooresponding T lines also were visable before retrieving items from mail. Edit…Deleting my points 2/3 since they were indead wrong QID/Item IDs and they work fine now. But I did discover something really odd. One of the items has Item ID 83076 when you mouseover it (and use a script that shows item ID’s on mouseover) on Wowhead, the item linked to the quest Between a Saurok and a Hard Place is 83076. However, the step wasn’t autocompleting. I did a search on the item name and discovered wowhead had a 2nd item with the same name, but a differant ID (83769). Used that ID and it works now.I also found out how to get proper QID’s for achievments … in case anyone missed this read https://wow-pro.com/node/3448 Or you can simply type /run WoWPro.Achievements:DumpInfo(achievement #) in game.
Re: Lorewalkers guideHmm, let me see.
Which kind of steps are getting the grey checkboxes?
Lorewalkers guideLudovicus, there is a problem with the Lorewalkers guide that I don’t know how to solve. When I complete a step, it autochecks it off with a grey (skipstep) mark. Also, it doesn’t parse the next set of coordintes (for the following line) until you manually check off the step (that the guide just autochecked off) The check mark remains grey whether you right or left click. Also, the steps still need rearranged, I missed putting that in the TO DO. but I do plan to do it.
On a scale of 1-10 onOn a scale of 1-10 on important things to fix… I would rate this about .05 (/sigh) but I noticed a typo. it should be rec’d (not rec’e) or the whole word ‘received’ because probably not everyone accepts that as a common abbreviation.A Between a Saurok and a Hard Place|QID|31055|U|83076|N|From item rec’e in the mail named ‘Between a Saurok and a Hard Place’.|A Hozen in the Mist|QID|31093|U|83770|From item rec’e in the mail named ‘Hozen in the Mist’.|A Fish Tales|QID|31094|U|83771|N|From item rec’e in the mail named ‘Fish Tales’.|A The Dark Heart of the Mogu|QID|31095|U|83772|N|From item rec’e in the mail named ‘ The Dark Heart of the Mogu’.|A What is Worth Fighting For|QID|31096|U|83774|N|From item rec’e in the mail named ‘What is Worth Fighting For’.|A Heart of the Mantid Swarm|QID|31097|U|83773|N|From item rec’e in the mail named ‘Heart of the Mantid Swarm’.|A The Song of the Yaungol|QID|31100|U|83777|N|From item rec’e in the mail named ‘The Song of the Yaungol’.|A The Seven Burdens of Shaohao|QID|31102|U|83779|N|From item rec’e in the mail named ‘The Seven Burdens of Shaohao’.|A The Ballad of Liu Lang|QID|31103|U|83780|N|From item rec’e in the mail named ‘The Ballad of Liu Lang’.|
LorewalkersOK, it is in. I can see it needs a few edits, but it is good raw material!Thank you both. I have asked Lockslap for permission to use the information he gathered in the addon.
No clue…No clue on how to put a guide together, but wondered if this information (taken from Lockslap’s Lorewalker addon – http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/lorewalkers – the waypoints.lua file specifically) may assist someone?
