Jame,

    I just wanted toJame,

I just wanted to thank you so much for this addon. I have known of your guide for a long time. However, I’m blond and I don’t really go looking for it until I’m stuck (which happens a lot) with where do I go next? I’m done with this zone (usually anything I can get my hands on). I found the addon this time around, loaded it. Picked one that I thought was the right one for the level I already was – it wasn’t the right one, so I picked the next one lower. It was the right one. I have already leveled two times and am close to leveling to 30. But I’m too tired to finish it tonight (will work on it again tomorrow).

So, Jame, a big thank you for all your hard work in putting the guide together in the first place and for getting this wonderful addon together as well.

I would hate to see theseI would hate to see these add-ons on curse.com. I still agree with the person who said the add-on version of this guide should be a members only type deal.

I actually stumbled on this community by accident while trying to find some leveling help on Google, and I have to say, it was the best mistake I ever made 😀 .

Levelling SpeedI levelled my blood elf paladin through the addon version. I used rested experience but no emblem shoulders.

I hit level 60 in 2 days 21 hours played. I finished about 1/4 of the way through the Western Plaguelands so I decided to stop questing in the Old World there. So basically, this is really fast I guess.

This will most likely neverThis will most likely never happen. If this addon was up on curse.com, no one would come to this website anymore. The community and guides written by users at wow-pro.com is something Jame is very proud of, and if visitors stopped coming to the site, those guides would never be seen and the community would disappear.

I’ll add this question to the FAQ, it gets asked a lot.

Speaking of Brian Kopp…You also don’t end up where his customers are right now. Ripped off. He never released a completed 70-80 guide which he wanted to charge more money for, and he has been missing ever since. Almost a year now and his forums are filled with angry people unable to get a refund. Finally Spugnort or w/e his seller is, had to make posts to calm people down.

With wow-pro, if Jame ever stops there are others who will be happy to take over or pitch in. The beauty of open source is anyone can help and you get a great community like you have here.

Don’t Think So….If the mod here was the reason your account was closed, there would be a metric TON of people voicing their displeasure. And trust me, I would be at the head of the line on this!!!!

Jiyambi is right, you need to get in touch with Blizzard and find out what supposedly happened to get your account banned. I’d be curious to see what exactly they did state as the reason for the ban though.

That would be a mistake. That would be a mistake. This is not software, it is an addon and addons are approved by Blizzard. If Blizzard has a problem with this addon specifically (which they shouldn’t, it breaks no rules and does not request donations in game, nor do we charge for it), then they need to contact us. I would suggest you try to contact Blizzard and find out what happened.

When you download a newWhen you download a new version, it can loose some of your progress if that version has been heavily edited. Basically if the conditions for steps being checked off have been changed, they won’t be checked off anymore. So I would recommend writing down where you are in the guide section you are currently working on before the update.

I should probably write this somewhere on this page!

Also, a new version should be coming out this weekend so you might want to wait until then to update!

Taralom’s Nightelf GuideFor some reason my computer doesn’t want to let me edit the addon, so instead I made a text document with all the mistakes/improvements I could think of while playing through the Nightelf Guide. Here is a link to the file on MediaFire. In addition I think that there could be more notes to make it more user friendly. Overall the guide wasn’t bad, what seemed like a strange order of quests initially worked out well.

I hope this helps someone when they come to adjust the guide.

I’m a little concerned whenI’m a little concerned when you say you used out addon guide for Blade’s Edge and Shadowmoon, because our addon does not cover those zones. It may be that you’ve been using TourGuide’s default guides, and NOT WoW-Pro’s guides. Check to make sure the guide says both “WoW-Pro” and “Jame” in the title.

status :Dhey. i’ve used the addon for levelling a couple of chars now, and with this new horde char (With heirloom xp shoulders equipped) its going great!

even though i slacked ALOT at lower levels (mostly i was just playing that new peggle addon and standing in orgrimmar :P) so i got 8 days played. but when i quit slacking and just stuck to the guide it went blitzing fast

i even completed all quests in blades edge, netherstorm and almost all in shadowmoon.(and ofc the quests the addon tells me to do, so basicly i’ve done all regular quests in outland, more or less) so i went to northrend when i was level 72ish almost 73

when i was done in howling fjord i was level 75, and before i got to dragonblight i hit level 77..

this was without ever being fully rested, or grouped. i did get a friend to rush me through UK though, and i’ve only done one instance so far, and thats nexus..

mostly i did the outland guides coz i needed the items to disenchant for my enchanting skill levelling (357 atm, just gathering mats atm :P)

overall its a great guide, and its a shame that the blades edge, netherstorm and shadowmoon guides arent in addonform yet. i hope they’ll be added (and suggested as optional stuff ofc)

good work to all people who work on this! you diserve a medal

Jahwo designed the bugJahwo designed the bug reporting site, because before it was worse. Well, before, we were doing what we are doing now – which is posting feedback haphazardly all over the site. This is because there have been reports of the bug reporting site not functioning properly of late. Yes, a better system is needed, but folks have been busy and it hasn’t gotten done yet. It’s a big job 🙁

    Anyways thanks for the feedback!

why.. (bug reporting)the whole idea with the bug report system is great..

but.. why is it designed as it is?

you come to the bug report “main page” and have to click a guide. its great, theres a list of the current reports for that particular guide, which i wanted to post about.

then if i wanna post a bug, i have to click the same guide, again, from the dropdown menu? why? :<
    seems silly

Leveling speedJust finished leveling a character from 1-80 using the addon. I had decided to make a NightElf Priest as my 2nd character in WoW. Following the addon to the letter from 1-80 took me 7days, 13hours, 26minutes. This was without logging in any major towns or inns, so very minimal rested xp. Figured I post my leveling speed since I hadn’t seen any and figured some people might be curious as to how fast it can be. Not bad considering its my 2nd ever WoW character and don’t know the questing circuits all that well, I’m very pleased. Thanks guys appreciate the hard work.

It’s actually more likelyIt’s actually more likely that you’ll have problems with quests you’ve already done.

However, just keep following the guide and those kinks will work themselves out in a few levels.

Since Jame’s guides start at 30, I don’t think you’ll have any trouble with pre-reqs.

    *Pokes head in*Huh? What? 😉

Yeah, Tekkub’s and Jame’s guides, as well as some user created guides for Dragonblight and Grizzly hills, basically left only one area to have a guide for, and that was Icecrown. So I made a basic guide for it. It’ll get you the achievement, but you’ll need some help in the end for the group quests. I’d like to work on it a little more to improve the questcircuits, but I need to find time to do that.

I understood what you mentI understood what you ment in your first comment, np 😛

My above comment was more a reply to Eric, who said that the guides themselves look like Tour Guide or WoW-Pro guides.

There are others too that have made profit from Tour Guide, one of them is Gavin.

It’s not what I said :)I didn’t say that he “plagiated” (I hope the verb exists in English :)) some other guides – he is certainly the one who wrote them, since they also exist in a paper form, and they may be excellent.

I just said that he is using the “guide engine addon” TourGuide to distribute them, and I wonder if Tekkub knows that someone takes profit from his addon – this is the point annoying me.

Well, it clearly is TourWell, it clearly is Tour Guide. However…

If go to this page, you can test out the guide yourself, and see that it’s not a WoW-Pro guide at all.
For example, Dugi’s guide includes a 12-17 Darkshore part, and that doesn’t exist on WoW-Pro.

Dugi has also made other guides, such as a Daily Quest & Events guide.

You can see by this that Dugi simply uses the Tour Guide to make his own in-game guides.

Although, he MAY have just edited the already existing guides built into Tour Guide and just added a whole bunch more information. And he may also have used Lyran’s Daily Quest Guide to make his own Daily Quest & Events guide.

I’m not judging nor protecting Dugi in this matter, just enlightning 😉

Agreed. Jame’s guides haveAgreed. Jame’s guides have increased my leveling speed at all level brackets with about 30-50% (depending on the bracket), and that is compared with my leveling speed while following various other guides such as Joana’s, Brian Kopp’s, Idemise & Zygor.

I’ve tried most of the paid guides, and yet I end up following Jame’s. This, and the bold text above, speaks for itself when it comes to WoW-Pro guides vs. Paid guides.

By the way, thanks for posting, Skumball, I were thinking about the very same things just yesterday.

  • img
    Jun 2, 2009 @ 2:37 am

Well, as someone who hasWell, as someone who has bought many different paid guides (I don’t like to download paid things for free, I much prefer wasting money), SPEED-wise, they’re all pretty good and comparable with the WoW-Pro guides. (I should point out that I am speaking solely of leveling guides.) However, WoW-Pro beats them in one very significant way: details. When using the other guides I would often go to a location and be told to do a quest, and that’s it. I’d spend a lot of time going to Wowhead in order to look up what I was supposed to do in the obscure quests. Seriously, just giving a location and a quest name isn’t enough sometimes. Wow-Pro’s guides however go into a staggering about of detail by comparison. The level of detail here made it so I almost never had to go to Wowhead to look things up, and the few times I did were for situations like running out of enemies to kill and looking up other locations, and such. (Well, and that Red Rocket PvP quest in Grizzly Hills, which Jame says to skip anyway.) So, yes, the details provided on the guides here at WoW-Pro, to me, set the guides here head and shoulders above the rest.

    tl;dr version: Details are good.

  • img
    Jun 2, 2009 @ 1:13 am

WoW-Pro guides vs. Paid guides…I got asked this question today: “What’s so special about those WoW-Pro guides? Why would I use a crappy free guide over something I have to pay for like Joana’s? Surely if I pay for something it’s going to be better.”

I answered it very easily, I’ll share that answer here and now.

I actually have Joana’s guide – one of the many (and probably one of the best known) guides you have to pay for. It was given to me as a present by a friend who got me into WoW – he paid for it for me once I had been playing a few weeks and asked him about any guides n whatnot. Now, why would I use the guides here on WoW-Pro rather than Joana’s guide?

Joana’s guide is designed purely for use for a Warlock or Hunter, commonly considered the fastest levelers due to their exceptional abilities at being able to go for long sustained periods of time without taking a break. Jame’s guides work for every single class equally.

Joana’s guide is extremely poor in it’s appearance. In my eyes, it looks like it was put together by a bunch of 7 year-olds. It follows very basic stages: do this, do that, then go here and do this… Jame’s guides look absolutely amazing, you can really appriciate the time and effort he put into them and see that they are very well presented. You never get stuck or lost as everything is explained in crystal-clear detail.

Why pay for something when you can get it (and so much more) for free? Free is the best price you can pay.

Joana’s guide is exactly that, nothing more. WoW-Pro is so much more than just a collection of guides, even if that collection is vast and covers almost every aspect of the game. It has a large community of friendly and helpful people who are always willing to offer advice and criticism in a good way. You can make alot of good friends in a community like this. You will also learn alot more about the game here too compared to following Joana’s guide.
There you have it. That’s short and simple I know, but I think it sums it up pretty well.

I would like to make it clear though that I don’t intend for this to offend anyone. I used Joana’s guide as an example as it was brought up in the question and I have it myself and so I feel like I can compare the two as I have reasoning and experience of both behind my opinions. If Joana reads this then I do appologise to you if this offends or upsets you, that was never my intention.

    Anyway, peace out!

    – Skumball

I’m at 28 now on a ShamanI’m at 28 now on a Shaman and tbh there’s ALOT of grinding I’m doing, I’ve even ran an instance for the 30-40% level exp to catch up.

I don’t remember doing this when I leveled my druid through this guide at this stage using the paper version but I will confess I’m not killing anything besides quest objectives this time round – I’m lazy and want to get it leveled and get everything done as fast as I can. That’s probably why it’s llike this for me.
