Adventures of Mokrana Chapter 2!Hey folks!
I just finished speed testing Hosho’s Barrens guide. It wasn’t the best result ever, but this time I think I have good reasons why not, and I’m confident that the next chapter is going to go a LOT faster.
For more details check out my blog post – you can also follow my blog if you have a blogger account or use an RSS tracker.
*Any* guide other than*Any* guide other than WoW-Pro’s will be hidden when the WoW-Pro guides are enabled, from what I understand. Again, we’re working on a fix for this, but that the moment you’ll need to disable WoW-Pros guides to see other guides.
What then if you use Gavin’s
What then if you use Gavin’s Leveling Guide?
EDIT: This comment came at the top of the page eventhough I’m pretty sure I clicked reply, but anyways, this comment is a reply to Jiyambi’s post 2 posts below 🙂
The non-wow-pro guides areThe non-wow-pro guides are hidden when the wow-po addon is enabled. This is because we received multiple complaints about people being unable to find our guides, since you have to scroll down to find them. There is currently discussion going on to make “subfolders” within the Tourguide menu to fix this problem, but for now you’ll need to disable the WoW-Pro portion of the addon to see those other guides. Sorry for the inconvenience.
ConfusedLove the guides, but after I installed them again with WOW Matrix, I lost the ability to acces the SSO Daily I had created, as well as the older guides that were present.
If I can figure it out and fix the problem, then I can think about helping test the remaining guides

Jame’s Horde HFP guide – Marking the PathThe marker for the South beacon is off, should point to 36.07, 65.51. All three steps autocomplete properly though.
Applies to V0.5
Thanks! It seems one of ourThanks! It seems one of our users added us, unfortunately Jame is not sure he wants the addon available for download there. It’s being looked into.
WowMatrix!I happen to use WowMatrix (link) to update my addons, and I noticed that your (awesome) addon has been added to their list of supported addons. Just thought I’d let ya know.
Thanks!I’d forgotten about that, thanks for reminding me. I’m fumbling through the last 4 zones with my 4 highest level toons. I’ll take a look at this guide when I finish.
James
ThanksThanks
Grizzly Hills guide – two notesI’ve seen a couple of spots in the guides where the location being marked is the location that the quest is completed at, but it’s an underground or lower-level location where it’s not immediately obvious how to get there. One example is in the Grizzly hills guide, on the step ‘A Dark Influence’, where the arrow points to a location that is a big grassy field. There is no mention of the entrance that takes you to that spot underground.
The sequence for “Heart of the Ancients” and “My Heart is in Your Hands” also seemed confused. It seemed to indicate I should use the elixir to summon the troll at the lumber camp, but that was where I was supposed to loot the heart. I couldn’t summon him until I had gotten 5 desperate mojos, which is the step listed after the quest turnin, and was a significant distance away. I had to go to the paper version to figure out the correct sequence.
DragonblightIn post https://www.wow-pro.com/wiki/addon_in_progress#comment-22789 Rhovanion posted a Dragonblight guide he whipped up. I’ve tried it, it seems pretty good. Maybe it should be used?
The file seems to still be up at
http://www.inculturated.com/files/games/WOW/000_74_75_Jame_Dragonblight.lua
despite his warning it may disappear. I just copied it to the addon folder, and then edited the Guides.xml file with notepad, adding an entry for the file. I found it to be self-explanatory, if anybody else wants to try it.
Coords at startupThere’s sometimes an issue when you first start up, and tourguide doesn’t detect the zone you’re in when it starts. It then maps the coordinates to the world map. If this happens, right-click on the addon, then select ‘guides’, and switch to another guide. When you switch back, it should map the coordinates to the correct zone.
Dragonblight. There’s one that’s included in the original TourGuide mod, but it’s not from here. When you install the wow-pro mod, it disables those guides included in TourGuide.
On the Works in Progress page (https://www.wow-pro.com/wiki/addon_in_progress), it shows that Dragonblight is being worked on, but hasn’t been released.
This is, of course, assuming you’re talking about the Alliance side….LOL
James
Dragonblight Guide?First off, great work everyone. There are some people doing some hard, largely thankless work, and people like me appreciate their efforts. 🙂 So far I have run my 70 (now 74) Hunter through both the Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord guides. I did not alt tab at all, and went expressly by what the guide told me. There weren’t any MAJOR issues, just a couple bad waypoints, and a couple times when the guides failed to send me back to a quest hub for turnins.
My question though, is this, where is the Dragonblight guide? I see it as being listed elsewhere, and thought there was one in the addon at one point, but now I don’t see it in the latest version. Has it just not been created yet, or did it get pulled accidentally from the addon?

Cords on horde guides are all offLove the site just recently signed up. Been using tour guide to level my new priest horde side. They work fine just the cords for all major towns are completely off. Its telling me Org is in Stonetalon Mountains and that Splintertree post is in Hillsbrad. its not a big deal for me but for someone who’s never played it would be confusing. Keep up the good work other than that small issue its great.
Thanks much, the BarrensThanks much, the Barrens guide probably has a lot of errors since I didn’t test it after coding, I was waiting for Hosho to finish his revamp.
Still another problem foundStill another problem found in the Barrens guide:
– The “Call of Fire” Shaman quest chain needs to be split up into parts and the numbers needs to match the ones in the Durotar guide.
I found some problems in theI found some problems in the Barrens guide:
1. The fly to crossroads and set heartstone to crossroads items does not auto-complete. This is because the place is named “The Crossroads”, not crossroads.
2. The “Plainstrider Menace” quest does not auto-complete and when I check it manually it also checks the turn-in as complete. I think this is caused by wrong QID. It looks like it should have QID 844 NOT 871.
Howling Fjord – clarification neededI forgot to note that I’ve tried and enjoyed the Howling Fjord guide. I used it almost entirely without issue. The one issue I found was that when you’re in Gjalerbron and have to wake Dormant Vrykul and kill Fearsome Horrors, it’s not clear where to go. The web version of the guide leads you to the correct entrance, but I hadn’t seen the entrance when I came up the stairs, and the addon simply pointed to the coordinate without noting where the entrance was.
Thanks for the hard work, everybody!
Badlands and Swamp of Sorrows switched?Great to see such a big update 🙂
I do have a question though: it seems Badlands and Swamp of Sorrows are switched. The guides will have you go to the badlands, crush some rock elementals on the way and then you have to go straight to the swamp of sorrows. In the paper version you stay in the Badlands and when finished you continue in the swamp of sorrows…is this a glitch or is this intentional swapped in the addon guide?
keep up the good work, its getting better every time 😀
By ‘nothing happens’ do youBy ‘nothing happens’ do you mean you don’t see them on the addon menu that appears when you click on the ‘addons’ button in the bottom corner when you are at the WoW character selection screen? You have to close the WoW window and re run it for it to work.
Clarify please? 🙂
Help??Ok well i added all of the addons YES all of them (4), and when i extract them into my addons folder nothing happens.. im using vista btw. and i really want to use this guide.
Big updateBig update today!

Sounds like you are missingSounds like you are missing some of the base required addons (most likely, Tour Guide itself). You need to have four total addons installed:

Tour Guide

WoW-Pro’s Tour Guide files (separate ones exist for Horde and Alliance)

TomTom or Cartographer

Lightheaded
Please see the Main Info Page of the addon for links to download each of these, it should be near the top.
Horde Lvl’ing guide add-onOn the add-on char screen being told ‘dependency missing’
Really wanna use add-on same with friend. Great raves from it in game.
PLZZZZZZ help me 😕
Thanks for all the hard workThanks for all the hard work you put on the addon Black Cat.
Good luck !
We’ll miss you Black Cat,We’ll miss you Black Cat, thanks for all the work you did on the addon! You know you’re always welcome here, should your life become less hectic!
Hah, agreed!Hah, agreed!
Thank you, didn’t know aboutThank you, didn’t know about that interview as well. It’s a nice reading but a bit too much about Deathknights and the new patch, and too less about wow-pro. But thats just my opinion 😀
An Apology and a FarewellFirst off, I’m very sorry to everyone here for disappearing without a trace. Several things all came together at once, and because of this, I’ve basically had no free time for the last month or so.
Long story short; year 12 and a young lady.
As such, I’ve had to reshuffle my priorities, and for the forseeable future, WoW is a long way down the list. I’ve cancelled my account and don’t plan on returning.
So, once again, I’m very sorry for pulling a Houdini, and wish you all the best here at WoW-Pro.
Horde 41-51 UPDATEHey folks,
I just finished testing and doing a massive revamp on the Horde 41-51 section. It’s far from perfect, but also much better than it was. This shouldn’t receive the “quality” sticker just yet, but it’s definitely play-able now and shouldn’t have any major problems. Most remaining issues are stylistic and will be fixed slowly as folks play it through.
The file can be downloaded here, is linked in the table above, and will be part of the next addon release.
Wow, thanks for the link!Wow, thanks for the link! That was a fun read 🙂 I didn’t know Jame had done another interview. Well, cool!
Found another littleFound another little waypoint problem in the Orc/Troll 1-12 guide.
The Warlock class quest “The Binding” has a coordinate problem. The numbers are right, but the waypoint is in Durotar, when it should be in Orgrimmar.
Way to go, Jame! You’re on WOWinsider ^^Nice article here:
http://www.wowinsider.com/2009/03/05/interview-jame-of-wow-pro/
I hope that because of that article, more people will get to know your guides an especially the new “kickass”-addon-version. 🙂 🙂 🙂
The addon helped me to level my resto-shaman as resto shaman parallel to playing and raiding my main (and getting some rl and doing my 9-5 job ^^), without ever having the feeling that it took to long…
Because of the rested bonus gained during the week (when my chars where sleeping 😉 and i was at work) few quick instance runs, the guides helped me to ding, while I was in Grizzly Hills! 🙂
Now it’s all about playing the guide till the end, to earn some quest-cash 🙂
Hope you will find some time soon to complete your guides / addon for the last few “open” zones, so that earning cash will be easy as pie 🙂
Big thanks to you and this great community for the guides and the addon! Keep up the great work 🙂
Orc/Troll Starter UpdateVery true, sorry I missed this one! File has been edited and you can download it here. It’s also updated on the works in progress page.
I had another little problemI had another little problem with the 1-12 Orc/Troll guide.
This time it was with finding Gazz’uz in Skull Rock. Since I was unfamiliar that mob and there was no waypoint, I had to search the whole cave for him. A waypoint or at least a description where in the cave to find him would be welcome.
12-20 Maw’s GuideFinally got my priest to level 20 yesterday.
Here’s my feedback on the guide :
There is two quest related steps with no autocompletion. They are both in the Loch Modan part (16-18). There is no QID tag for those steps in the file, so i guess you did’nt include them on purpose. Probably because you provide a given path to get to the questgiver and don’t want ligthheaded to mess with it. Maybe it could be done with a ‘Run here’ step detecting the zone name and then the quest step.
The first one is the turn in step for Ironband’s Excavation. The second one is the accept step for A Dark Threat Looms. This one is a little more annoying since by ticking this step TourGuide automatically tick the turn in, and you can’t have the arrow to get to the complete step.
I had troubles to find Ol’Sooty for the Vyrin’s Revenge Quest. I waited for him in his cave like 15 mins, then went to wowdbu and found him wandering down the hill. That’s something you may want to add to the step note.
I did’nt found any other problems.
My played at level 20 was 13h12. It’s already 4h behind holyjame, but i believe it’s still good considering i level a priest.
The grinding session in level 19 was terrible, more than 1h for 60% exp. Maybe some of the 20-30 part could be transferred here, since you found yourself a lot ahead at the end of the 30 part. But it would probably mess with the 12-20 boston’s guide, and got me a lot of money, wich i’ll need for my mount.
Sephrenya
Yeah, I noticed this too.Yeah, I noticed this too. It’s not too far off, but it really should be fixed. I’ll do it when I get around to it, if someone hasn’t already by then. Thanks for the tip! 🙂
I found a little coordinateI found a little coordinate bug in the 1-12 Orc/Troll starter guide.
The quest NPC for the quest “Finding the Antidote” was moved in WotLK, but the addon still shows the waypoint in his old location. He’s now at (43, 50).
Problem with the Drenai GuidesHi,
I am having a problem with the drenai Guide.
When I finish the 1-12 Part it always resets back to this guide and unticks most non quest related things that you have to click yourself.
Is there a way to change this, as I am really loving the guides and just wanted to level another character using it, wihtout worries 😉
Stitch
I intalled the frenchI intalled the french version, thanks =) I’ll try it for the end of the 12-20 part. Maybe a link on the main page to a list of all translations available could be of some use. I’ve been using the guides for a while, and still did’nt now there was a french version. Anyway, using the original one makes me improve my english level ^^
I’m currently 16, and the shield makes things a lot easier. Can’t wait level 20 to get Mind Flay.
I did’nt take a look at all the levels time, but i think i’m a lot closer to Jame’s speed in this part.
In the same part of theIn the same part of the guide, the coordinates for turning in the quest “The Search Continues” are wrong. The correct coordinates are (13.61 , 38.22).
The follow-up “Search More Hovels” has no coordinates whatsoever.
The circuits in this part of the guide also seem a bit inefficient to me, you might want to look at them again.
For instance, it might make more sense to do these quests on the way from Menethil to the place where you kill the Giant Wetlands Crocolisks, then move in the direction of the Greenkeeper while killing Fen Creepers and then do the quests at the orc camp and the digsite.
Major issue with first Tanaris guideHey folks, I discovered a significant chunk of quest accepts and turn ins missing from the first Horde Tanaris guide. A hotfix can be found here. I was planning on linking the full 41-51 guide when I finished it, but this is important enough that I wanted to link it sooner. The other updates I am working on can all be found here if anyone in that level range needs them. They aren’t perfect yet, but they are an improvement.
Hello Sephrenya.
First,Hello Sephrenya.
First, please note that there is a french page for the plugin:
https://www.wow-pro.com/guides_other_languages/addon_tourguide_et_guides_de_wowprocom_l039addon_fran%C3%A7ais
You can notice that the “1-12 Maw’s Human Guide” was one of the few already translated – the class-specific quests would have been handled 🙂
Yes, leveling a priest is not very easy for the first levels… But getting the Power word: Shield and the fear will help – and knowing when to flee!!!
My advice is: don’t spare your mana, use it intensively, and buy plenty of water to replenish it! I remember when I was a young priest, I was trying to spare my mana by fighting with my staff and my wand – I lost plenty of time doing that…
Good luck in your leveling!!
Souricette
1-12 Maw’s Human GuideHello =)
First, i need to say your guides are really great, and the addon is even greater, so thanks a lot.
Just started a human priest and it seems they are by far worse levelers than paladins. Took me 4h30 to reach the end of the 1-12 Maw’s guide, while being 36% ahead of level 12.
I really died A LOT, like 10-12 times in the 8th level. Priests are so weak in early levels =\'(
The class quests didn’t show up for me, but it semms to be related to my french client. TourGuide does’nt seem to handle any localisation. Didn’t notice any other problem. I’ll try to be better in the next part =p
Jiyambi has already answeredJiyambi already answered your question here 😀
