I had that errorOpen up the file in notepad.

It should be in the wowpro folder in your addons.

The file you are looking for is called 002_38_41_Dustwallow_Marsh_Jame_3040

Hit Ctrl+F to bring up the find menu.

Type in 8000 or less XP, this should take you right to the line.

    N Level Check: 41 |N|Make sure you’re 8000 or less XP off level 41 before continuing…|

Replace the line with this, save and reload.

Are you using the HowlingAre you using the Howling Fjord guide I posted, or the one in the current upload package? As far as I know, the latter is only the last 10% of Howling Fjord or something like that? And maybe the starting bit.

If you’re using the one I wrote and the quests are out of order, I’d love to know so I can fix it! (But I think they are in order hehe) I posted it on the “main info page” in a comment.

until.. I hit the 38-40 part.

When I try to load up the guide it gives me this message:

    ” ..AddOnsTourGuideParser.lua line 54:
Unknown action: Level Check: 41 |N|Make sure you’re 8000 or less XP off level 41 before continuing…| ”

If anyone has any idea, please help 🙂

Quest orderThe first thing i’d like to say… I love the work you guys are doing here. Jame your guides are awesome. 🙂

I have a question for this addon guide, are the quest supposed to be in the same order as your written guides Jame? Have been doing Borean Tundra (alliance ofc) and have startet the Howling Fjord section. I find that some of the quests are not in the same order as in the written ones?

Dustwallow marsh?so far, i have only experienced small problems with your guide, untill lvl 38!

i’m not sure whats wrong, but the Dustwallow marsh guide is just broken!

when i try to load it, it opens the desolace guide instead, with 0 % complete..

Hopefully someone can look into this. 🙂

Wrong locationI wasn’t sure where to post this and if any one could tell me where to postfuture posts that would be great.

I just wanted to point in the Toure guide addon (Jame’s Horde Leveling Guide – Grizzly Hills (75-77)) the part where you need to get the quest “Sasha’s hunt” points you to a wrong direction, you will end up in Bloodmoon Isle. Also, the other quests that you get from the location where you get the Sasha’s hunt the cordinates are also wrong. This happen when I was in 53-58% of the guide. I dont’t know if was just me or the guide it self. I have a friend that is also trying out the guide so I will be able to confirme either it was me or the guide.

Great guide by the way ;P

No apology needed for me. INo apology needed for me. I worked hard to help give something back to the Wow-Pro community for all the amazing work that’s done here. I think things will end up better by focusing on one addon. Unfortunately, it’s looking like I won’t have the time to help code anything for TourGuide as the requirements of my job are really starting to kick in right now, but I definitely will be providing constructive feedback to help get everything up to Jame’s standard.

It also leaches bandwidthIt also leaches bandwidth from the host sites while profiting itself from the ads in the program. WoWMatrix also doesn’t ask permission from add-on authors to list their add-ons though they will remove them if you request it. This kind of deep linking and profiting from it is a morally questionable practice. Go over to the Ace forums and ask about WoWMatrix if you want but be ready for the flames :p

I would like to say bigI would like to say big props to everyone who was invlved with the wow-pro custom add-on, it was an impressive response and an awesome feat. I would like to bring special attention to the Belf starter guide (snowflake’s one) that had been coded for this add-on. All of the guide writers should try it. Its actually better than the one Jame coded (Maw’s human 1-12) for tourguide. Mainly because it even autocompletes when you train, sell, repair etc. Of course it might just feel that way because the belf starting area is better designed than any other starting area in my opinion. Its worth checking out though, its quite brilliant and is in my opinion the gold standard which the other guides should try to match.

I mean no disrespect to any guide writers in saying this, I just thinks its the standard we should be going for. Oh and I’ve written all this and you probably can’t get hold of the old wow-pro custom add-on now 😀 Oh well.

Thanks to the community for the work it put into this add-on anyway. Was real nice to see tbh.

Guide writing.I finished a guide using nuzz’s tourguide editor and went to play test it. It shows up on the guide list, but when I select it nothing shows up in the tourguide frame. I double checked all my objectives and made sure to add tags for (part 1) etc… Anyone have any idea how to fix this? And do I edit the main tourguide guides.xml or the one in the WoW-Pro_TourGuide_Horde folder (where I put the guide).

  • img
    Feb 3, 2009 @ 0:35 am

Thanks for trying, JahwoI appreciate your attempt at doing this. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to code any of the guides into Tourguide format, but I do have a plethora of alts to test a lot of them 😛 . There didn’t seem much that I’d be able to contribute writing-wise, anyways.

Again, thanks for trying. I know this will end up helping the community in the long run!

No problem!I initially liked more the wow pro custom addon, but after discussing here I figured that the tourguide style addon is potentially a lot better than any other leveling addon (small , “clever” , simple yet clear) and with the efforts that a lot of user put in it it is really good. I think that with all “modders” (or customizers :)) working on the same project, things will move faster and Jame will have more time to write Northrend leveling guides while other experts of tourguide will import his and other users’ guide in the addon.

Keep up the good work, complete support from me!

I want to give someI want to give some apologies, too… To all the community members who made the effort to write guides for my addon and supported it. I thank you very much. Also some special thanks to rioshin, without him, this decision would surely have been made even earlier.
Please keep your motivation up and use it to make the TourGuide AddOn as perfect as possible.

Thanks again, I hope you’re not too disappointed.

More GuidesThere are more guides. Alliance also has 1-12 draenei, Jame’s 30-40, Jame’s Dragonblight, and a few more.

Same with Horde. They have more guides than the ones you mention.

Step no longer necessaryThanks for making such an awesome guide, and then going even farther to make it an add-on. I’ve got a DK going through the Alliance Hellfire one so I’ll provide feedback on it. I downloaded the addon yesterday, and started clicking through it on my DK to get where he was and I noticed that it’s still telling you to buy the Maiden’s Anguish for the “Fei Fei’s Treats”. I’ll post aything else as I come across it. Thanks again for taking the time to do this.

    Jan 27, 2009 @ 10:49 am

Nope.In wow pro there is only 1 guide for alliance (maw’s human leveling guide 1-12) and a bit more for the horde: Zernij’s Durotar Leveling Guide 1-12 and Jame’s horde leveling guide – Dragonblight & Grizzly Hills. I’ve tested the last 2 and they are great.

There are actually more guides for Tourguide, expecially for alliance side. There is the whole Jame’s leveling guides 30-60, Outland guides until Blade’s edge mountains and 1 or 2 Northrend guides!

Tourguide is smaller, it isTourguide is smaller, it is also most perfmormant because it auto-completes 90% of the steps. It activates autmatically the quest tracker and, by far, is the easiest to use.

The custom addon is, as the name hints, a customized window. You can resize it, move where you want to fit your deisres. It has a nice arrow pointing system, which also is integrated in the addon (meaning no tom tom, which is one of the most ram consuming addons [at least whenever I check it heavier than lightheaded!] thus it slows down your FPS a bit). The wow pro custom addon is better because it contains more informations (basically it’s an exact copy – paste of the guides on this site) and thus is more easy to understand what to do. You can browse through steps whenever you want, it’s easy. Basically, in areas like Dragonblight, you can go back and see what Jame said about the instances or group quests, and evalutate if you want to do those :).

I have tried both addons, and frankly I can’t decide. Both have pros and cons, it’s up to your tastes.

This is true of everyThis is true of every addons. The variables in memory are saved to disk only if you logout or exit the game properly. If you crash or if you kill the program, nothing get saved.

The only way to have the data written to disk is to reload the UI but I would not advice to do that since some mods respond strangely to that.

If you didn’t changeIf you didn’t change anything in the WTF-Folder or didn’t change the language of your client this should really not happen.

If this problem still occurs look if there is a file called Tourguide.lua in the folder World of warcraftWTFAccountACCOUNTNAMESavedVariables

if not.. hmm just try reinstalling the addon, or deleting the WTF folder (which will reset your configurations!) 😛

It’s really easy to find your addon folder.

Generally the full path is: c:program filesworld of warcraftinterfaceaddons

Oh No! It’s forgotten almost everything! It was great fun to use this yesterday; I love the idea. But …

… when I logged back on this morning the addon/tour-guide or some part of this system had totally forgotten the history of all the quests that I had completed by the time that I logged out yesterday. I had to reselect the appropriate guide and then click the “completed” button on all of the quests until I got to the correct point.

Interestingly, it did seem to know the current “active” quest but it still was trying to make me repeat all of the ones that lead up to that point.
