Access is denied becauseAccess is denied because WoW-Pro no longer maintains a TourGuide version of the addon and it’s -heavily- out of date.
The page you want to download the current WoW-Pro addon and guide from is here. This page has the most up-to-date compiled version of the addon. You can also reach it by clicking on the addon tab on the top bar menu.
access denied? 🙁 fix pleaseaccess denied? 🙁 fix please
Sadly, this probably won’tSadly, this probably won’t be implemented until after Cataclysm – we just have too much to do 🙁
But, once Cataclysm comes out, our guides will be comprehensive zone guides rather than just leveling guides. You can use a slider to determine how “complete” you want the guide to be. For people working on Loremaster achievements, setting it to the most complete should take you through pretty much every quest in the zone.
Mavet, 80 DK onMavet, 80 DK on Boulderfist
The addon is great for leveling. I leveled several toons, both allies and horde, from 1-80 using the addon (and the written guides before that) in 9 or 10 days played, and this is while spending time on leveling two professions, cookig and first aid to 450.
However. I am now trying to achieve the Loremaster title. It would be a great help if the addon incorporated the written guides for SMV, and the part of Netherstorm. The rest of the quests in Netherstorm are all pretty well thoght out, and allow for efficiet circuits. In addition, it would be cool to add the needed quests in Nagrand and BEM.
The horde eastern kingdom guides easily allow you to complete the achievment, but the guides for Kalimador do not, leaving you with about 100 quests short. Note that people going for the loremaster are usually level 80, with decent gear. So all elite quests in BC, including most 5 men instances in regular mode are easily soloable. that is you can solo the bosses and not agro the minions. A “raid” of 3 level 80 (tank, healer and DPS) with decent gear (item level 232-264) can do all 40 men raids in the old world.
This my “wish list”
Thanks for the great guide.
The guides were initiallyThe guides were initially tuned for playing before the first time Blizzard sped up the leveling experience with TBC. And heirlooms just messed things up even more. Just ignore some quests when they turn green or grey and live with the fact that you’ll be quite a few levels in advance until Cataclysm comes out and all the new guides are out. Personally I tend to use the dungeon finder as well when I level up, making me drop up to 70% of the quests. It’s not as fun as before, but neither is WoW.
Your guides are excellents,Your guides are excellents, that’s a fact.
But when i create a toon, and let him play with full rest and full heirloom, i have to drop 50% to 66% of them, because things start to turn grey : heirloom + rest = incredible amount of xp with no effort.
So, i think a faster way of leveling is possible.
But i was not aware than total beginners made their way here too. And so, guides “with no help” seem more important to me now than guides “with heirloom and rest”.
Keep up the good work 🙂
I have downloaded the addonI have downloaded the addon version – i copied it to addon file in wow, but i dont seem to be getting anything! i have a new screen added onto my quest log but nothing in it when i search a quest!
Any one know what is wrong?Thank you.
Mario K
Thank You!!!Before I begin, I want to point out that I am a ‘noob’ with playing time in the area of 2.5 months. With that said I want to say thank you for the addon…I can’t imagine playing the game without it. I am currently leveling a DK which is at 73 and having a blast. Thanks again
thank youSouricette-THANK YOU so much.
I always use my mouse for everything, but my hubby is using a laptop (touch pad) and it was he who had the problem getting back into sunken temple after dying. I can’t remember encountering that problem so using the mouse advice is spot on.
You can swin under water while dead!Hello nimuwe.
You can swim under water while dead, by using the mouse. You can swim under water by using the mouse alive too 🙂
Just right-click on your mouse, maintain the button pressed, and rotate your character so that it faces your feet – and walk (using your keyboard key or by clicking both buttons of your mouse). That’s done, you are under water!
In general, it is a better choice to use your mouse to do your moves instead of the keyboard – it may be a little tricky at the beginning to master it, but later it will be very helpful in many conditions!
Good swim,
Souricette
probably stoopid noob questionHI 🙂 If you die in sunken temple, then how can you get back into the instance, since it seems you cannot swim when you are dead. 🙁 and we need to swim underwater to get into the temple. tried but when you get to the water part it is like hitting a wall and cannot get under.
I know there must be an obvious answer but after googling and searching everywhere i cannot find how to do it.
thanks for any help.
Yep, we are looking intoYep, we are looking into this and discussing our options. Thanks very much for the heads up and concern from everyone! We’ll make an announcement as soon as we’ve decided what our course of action will be.
Already noticedI’ve noticed that tourguide won’t be longer available. I also have told this to Jame and he is going to check it out with the other administrators what to do now.
Wow….I can’t blame Tekkub for selling the rights to TourGuide. He puts a lot of work into what he does and probably doesn’t get a lot of donations. On the other hand, that kind of leaves us out in the cold if TourGuide will no longer be updated unless we buy it from Zygor? I’m going to keep watching that post to see what they have in store.
James
Edit: Thanks for the heads up!!!!

I won’t add any words.
Since 3.2 came out I’veSince 3.2 came out I’ve found out some Alliance guides are missing. All addons with an authors name are missing, and Alliance LvL 35 is missing car news from the list I am following (no author). It has 34 with Desolace, then skips to 36 in Stranglethorn.
Thanks for info
A possible reason forA possible reason for this…
Many quests in the guide are tagged (part 1) (part 2) etc, which isn’t recognized as the quest name. So you pick up a quest, it doesn’t quite match up log vs guide, and perhaps…
Just a thought. I’m not sure if that’s the reason or not. I just had it happening with what’s listed as Rise of the Silithid (final) in the Alliance Azshara 51-52 chapter.
the keyJust wanted to share the answer with you all. 😉
Before you start it never hurts to make backups 😉
1. Close WoW
2. For instance, if you’re on the laptop. Copy X:World of WarcraftWTFAccountSavedVariablesTourGuide.lua
onto e.g. a usb flashdrive or email it to yourself. (Where ‘X’ is the drive letter you’ve installed WoW).
3. Fire up the desktop, plug in the flashdrive and copy the ‘TourGuide.lua’ to X:World of WarcraftWTFAccountSavedVariablesTourGuide.lua
4. Start WoW and you’ll notice that you can continue Jame’s guide without having to click every quest which you’ve just done already on the other pc.
Thanks!Just wanted to give some love for all the work you’ve put in to the addon version of your guides. I feel that using your addon gives me a huge advantage over anyone any other guide.
Hope you’ll continue to post updates. It was a sad day when I finished your Alliance Grizzly Hills section and had to go reinstall Quest Helper.
completed ingame questsFirst of all, thank you for bringing all the information on this into a single addon ! *bows deeply*
Second, i was wondering if there is a way to ‘remember’ the quests you’ve done when logging on to a different computer.
The following.. When i’v been playing on the desktop, the wife comes home we eat and i grab my latop to sit on the couch and play WoW with ofcourse this great addon.
The moment i log on to the laptop i have to single-handedly selected all the quests i’ve just been through on the desktop to get to the quest where i was.
I’ve been trying to do the following:
– desktop >> copy tourguide.lua >> laptop “saved variables” directory
Result is, i ended up with and empty ‘no guide selected’ message 😉
Hopefull this little story clarifies one another a bit 🙂
Is there a way to make this work, rather than copying and playing wow on an external HD or am i missing something ?
Kind regards
This is a lua file, it isThis is a lua file, it is impossible for it to hack you. If you are using an auto-downloader or opening .exe files, that can possibly compromise your computer. Somehow a keylogger made it’s way onto your system. However, the lua file downloaded from this site cannot do anything outside of wow (after you’ve already entered your password) so there is no way it could have hacked you.
I suggest getting some anti-virus and anti-spyware programs, and also getting an authenticator, to help prevent these type of issues.

Here’s a link to myHere’s a link to my guides,if you don’t already have them. I have all but Icecrown for the Horde. Alliance side, all but Storm Peaks and Icecrown, but there is an Icecrown guide already in the WoW-Pro Alliance pack. There is a Read Me file included with instructions on how to get them to work, if you need it.
Hah, I guess I just assumedHah, I guess I just assumed you meant that you had been using addon versions of the guides and wanted to see paper versions. But now I see that there are several ways to interpret your first comment.
Oh well sounds like you got your answer anyways 🙂
