Download and install the following Addons
- WoW-Pro Leveling Addon – The base of the addon. Updated for patch 3.3
- TomTom – Handles coordinates (It’s that arrow which points you to where you need to go). If you have Cartographer, you don’t need this, since Cartographer has it’s own arrow.
- Lightheaded – Makes TomTom even better, make sure to install this addon or you won’t always get a TomTom arrow to show you the way.
- WARNING: If you have QuestHelper installed, you should disable it, or at least disable the TomTom arrow option in Questhelper, or it will conflict with our addon and give you wrong directions. If you are not familiar with the installation of addons, it can be done as follows:
- Download and unzip the addon files.
- Navigate to the World of Warcraft directory
- Windows XP: C:\Program FilesWorld of Warcraft
- Windows Vista: C:\UsersPublicGamesWorld of Warcraft
- Open the “Interface” folder, then the “Addons” folder inside it.
- Copy and paste the “WoW-Pro”, “TomTom” and “Lightheaded” folders into the World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons directory.
You can check in-game if you’ve installed it correctly; when you go to the character selection screen, on the bottom left corner of the screen is a button called “Addons”. Click that, then scroll down and look for Lightheaded, TomTom and WoW-Pro (it’s in alphabetical order). Make sure they’re enabled.
It should look like this:
Once in game, you should see the TourGuide bar und
:
If this is a new character you just created, the correct guide should already be selected automatically.
If this is not a new character, click the TourGuide bar, a window will pop-up with a list of guides sorted by zones and level ranges:
Pick a guide close to your level and in a zone where you haven’t done all the quests.
There you go, just follow the addon!
For more information on how to use the addon, please visit the WoW-Pro Leveling Addon General Info Page.
If you want to help contributing by working on a section, please check the following links:
Even though it’s an in-game leveling addon, there are still a few things you need to know, and you’ll find them in each section of the guide below. They will contain information such as shopping lists, general information about the zone and other things which can’t be included in the addon for practical reasons. The addon will tell you to alt-tab back to the guide page whenever necessary, this will happen very rarely though, don’t worry, 99% of the guide is taken care of by the addon in-game!
Excellent! I haven’t testedExcellent! I haven’t tested this guide yet since Hosho was planning on doing some major changes to it, but I haven’t heard from him in a while so I may go ahead and test it soon. We’ll see.
I’ve heard other peopleI’ve heard other people having the same problem, though my rogue is currently in Howling Fjord and it’s working fine. I don’t know what’s up with it, it appears to be only this guide malfunctioning. I’ll look into it when I have time.
TroubleAlright, thanks for your tips guys- my computer must fall under the category of Vista not allowing the addon to work properly. It’s odd though because the addon shows up on the Add-on screen in game (character selection), yet when I log on, it isn’t existent. tourguide/tom tom/lightheaded all work A-OK. I’ve used zygor’s guide before (similar in format to Jame’s in game addon I’m sure) and it worked fine as well. Once again, thanks for your time…I’ll have to do things the old school way…. alt…tab….alt….tab…
Horde Hosho’s Barrens GuideHello, just wanted to tell that I’ve been using Hosho’s guide for the Barrens. All in all it was good, but being 42% complete, I’ve noted a few things that could improve the add-on.
1st, the quest “Echeyakee”, the only description in the add on is “U”. Would help if the description is fixed, and if the arrow guide would guide the played to where Echeyakee would be summoned.
2nd, in the quest “The Disruption Ends”, the coordinates to where Kreenig Snarlsnout patrols is wrong. I found here near 58, 26 rather than the guide’s 54.4 27.3.
Thanks, would report again if I see any more discrepancies or errors as I progress with the guide 🙂
Howling Fjord Guide not workingClicking on the HF guide in tourguide shows no guide loaded on the small onscreen tracker and the expanded guide selection area just shows it sitting at 100% complete. Tried updating both addons and removing the tourguide.lua files from my WTF folder, still no love. Anyone with a possible fix?
Is there any way that weIs there any way that we could write them using the site as a Backbone for it ? If so, could i be directed towards a link explaining that lol.
Very true, and that is anVery true, and that is an excellent suggestion. I think Jame is busy with RL stuff at the moment, so if he doesn’t add this notice soon I may go ahead and do it.
Everything was up-to-date asEverything was up-to-date as of yesterday night (EST) when I posted the original message.
I know that each guide says “needs testing” in small print next to the guides… but perhaps a big BETA logo/text on the front page so that users know what they are getting from the front page?
I honestly thought this was a finished product (as much as software is ever ‘finished’) until I started reading the comments.
Now with that said, I mean no disrespect. I understand the effort it takes to create anything. I just think it might be a bit more confusing to people thinking it might be release quality (besides, who reads when you are excited and want to try the in-game addon asap!) because the main page doesn’t call it a beta or work in progress kind of thing. I think we are so used to Jame’s quality guides that it is hard to accept something of beta quality. 🙂
Many thanks for all the contributors hard work!
Nah I figured it out.Nah I figured it out. Apparently there is one section of the 51-60 guide done, the Feralas part. Weird I know.
Hmmm.. maybe he was workingHmmm.. maybe he was working on the Tourguide standard guides 😀
First, make sure you haveFirst, make sure you have the most recent version of the guide. Our guide is in beta right now, and not all the coordinates for quest objectives have been added yet. It’s very possible that the guide you are using simply hasn’t been revised and tested yet. We’re all working very hard to get everything to a quality level, but for now you’ll have to make do with what we have. Jame will post on this page when each new version comes out, so watch that for updates!
Quests have no marker (pointer arrow):jawdrop:
SO I am using Dragonblight guide right now. Quest givers get arrows pointing to where they stand (seems to be a bit off compared to Carbonite’s marking feature which I used with the web based guide) however, when it tells me to do a quest… there is no arrow telling me where to go. Am I supposed to open up the quest log each time???
check the foldersBe sure you’re putting the WoW-Pro Addon in the “AddOns” folder and not the “TourGuide” folder, it should look like:
World of Warcraft
>Interface
>>AddOns
>>>TourGuide
>>>WoW-Pro_TourGuide_Horde
When I first installed the addon I made the mistake of putting the WoW-Pro folder INTO the TourGuide folder this will not work as it’s its own separate addon.
Also, it does not matter what OS you are using, the file structure within the WoW folder is the same everywhere. The only thing that changes is where the WoW folder, and thus the game itself, is located.
In Vista the WoW folder is in C:UsersPublicGames
In any other Windows its in C:Program Files
I don’t use Macs so I don’t know where they put it.
I also run Vista without anyI also run Vista without any trouble, but I have heard many accounts and from what I understand it’s a known issue that something in Vista can cause addons not to show up correctly. Unfortunately I don’t know much more about it than that.
My bad – I can see *later*My bad – I can see *later* guides, but NOT the 51-60 guide. Trying to find a fix now, as those files seem to be missing from the last version. Perhaps that section is still being written.
I’m using Vista 64 HomeI’m using Vista 64 Home Premium Edition and I have no issue what so ever. Just FYI
Hmmm, what operating systemHmmm, what operating system are you using? Vista has been known to eat addons in the past.
I just checked my guideI just checked my guide folder and in fact these guides are missing. I think they do exist, since supposedly there are suggested improvements and Valtimus is working on them. However they appear to be missing from the last download pack. I’ll message Valt and see what I can find out.
problem with installing the addonHello Jame,
Before I complain, I must say that I’ve dearly enjoyed your guide and am thankful beyond reason for it. I used it to get 80 on my main, and now am leveling a Pally (good fun).
For some odd reason, the addon/guide will not show up in game and I have followed the installation instructions carefully and correctly, or so I think. I have installed many addons before, no idea why this one isn’t working. Any suggestions? I’m horde by the way.
Thanks for all of your time!
guidesare you sure there is a guide above 52 for horde?
im sat looking at the download page now, and it doesnt list a guide above 52…
i’ll try re downloading it.
but im just checking that we ARE talking about horde guides…
yours truly, hateol
I’m having same problem…After I’m done with feralas in level 52, it says I can do optional searing gorge circuit or move onto un’goro by clicking guides. But I don’t see any guides on the list and I’m stuck with level 52.
I definitely can see theI definitely can see the later guides on my Horde character, and I know others can as well, so there must be something wrong going on with your version. I would recommend re-installing the addon, but Jahwo might have a better fix for you.
Same problem as Flanks. With the newest version of each of the required addons, I also have the problem of Howling Fjord ticking off as 100% complete when trying to activate it.
51 onwardshey i just downloaded this guide, and all the other required addon’s ect.
but i’ve noticed your guide stops at 51…
which hacked me off….cos the char i planned on using this guide for is 52..
is there going to be an update?
or am i stuck like this D=
thanks, hateol
The Barrens 12-20 Orc Shaman– The tracker for Lushwater Oasis in the Altered Beings quest is wrong. It point to 47,49. the actual coordinates are 47,39.
– There’s a few things wrong with the “Ignition” quest in the Barrens. First you spelled it “Ignition!” in the guide so it gives the error that the quest is not in the guide.
Second for the action part of it (the 2 crossed swords) your marker gives the coordinates 5.3,8.x which is wrong. it is more 56.x,8.x.
And lastly said coordinates are set for Desolace not the Barrens.
– Warsong Scout Update (ashenvale), the tracker and tooltip say 71,61 which is Splintertree Post. The Scout per say is at 71,68
– The Flight Path tracker for Splintertree shows up in Dustwallow Marsh at 72,14. the tooltip has the right coordinates but says it’s in the Barrens.
and I’m done for the night 🙂
PS: I hate the freaking Venture Co. who start running at 30% health. and the running to Splintertree to Azshara to Zoram Strand is a paaaain 😛
mistakeehey, first off great guide. Best to level with.
in hellfire penninsula, on our first trip to spinebreaker post, I am told to get 5 quests before leaving, the first 4 are fine but when it comes to get the 5th one, the waypoint arrow points to forward command To’arch where we just came from, the guide is correct saying who to get the quest from, but tomtom points to the wrong place. i don’t believe this is a problem with my computer because i tried logging and resetting and stuff and it didn’t work. Thanks.
no worries.
I’m an Orc so Ino worries.
I’m an Orc so I go there during the timed quest that takes me to the Pools of Vision.
On a side note while going to TB the trackers are wrong.
The coordinates for both Bloodhoof Village and TB are correct but they are set for the Barrens hence pointing in the opposite direction.
I’ll keep you posted if I find anything else.
my faction isThe Horde
Sorry, what race are you?Sorry, what race are you? Different races go to camp T at different times (namely, Tauren).
Unfortunately I haven’t got a chance to thoroughly test the Barrens guide either, since Hosho is planning on revamping it.
Let me know what race though and I’ll fix that issue 🙂
Barrens Guide – Camp TaurajoWhen first heading to Camp Taurajo and then ‘activating’ the flight path, the marker for the path is back at the Crossroads.
Hmm according to the worksHmm according to the works in progress page, someone is testing the 51-60 guide 😕 Weird, as it’s not included yet 😀 But no, there is no release date, sorry.
grizzly hills horde – Add-on Levling guide suggestion“1. Go to the area north of the trench (68,11).
Target a Grizzly Hill Giant (it doesn’t work on the giants throwing boulders from the side, you have to find a giant fighting in the middle of the field)
Right-click the Shard of the Earth on the Grizzly Hill Giant.
An Iron Rune Avenger will come out of the ground and attack you. Kill it.
Repeat 5 times.”
During this part of the guide, the add-on do just say if u mouseover the add-on that it’s NOT the boulder throwing giants, maybe add a waypoint/arrow so the add-on sends you to the correct place before telling you to use the item on the giants?:)
Level 51-60?Is there a release date on the Horde level 51-60 AddOn guide?
Howling Fjord MistakesAlright well I just got my DK to Howling Fjord and I would like to point out a few errors in the guide. 🙂
1. Getting the quest Report to Anselm. The guide misspelled it Report to Anslem, thus telling us that it is not listed in your current guide. 😛
2. Getting the quest Adding Injury to Insult. The guide misspelled it Adding Insult to Injury, thus telling us that it is not listed in your current guide.
Just thought I would point those out. 🙂
could you please tell usecould you please tell us which guide and faction you are talking about? thanks 🙂
Error: Turning in THe Final CodeWhen I went to turn in The Final Code; the guide pointed me to Honor Hold, HEllfire PEnninsula, instead of stonebreaker post, terrokar forest
Thank God!!!!I just created an account to post this.
You guys rock. I had been using your guides for a while now and had actually forgotten about them until a few weeks ago when I created a Death Knight.
Been using the Northrend guide and as usual is rocked.
But here’s the thing.
I rerolled a Shaman and decided I’d try your addon version.
the Durotar part was swell but when I got to The Barrens it started messing up, doing quests that were to hard for my level and such….
that’s when I realized that I was a retard and had not been using YOUR guide but the default 12-20 guide.
so now I’m using yours and I just love you guys 🙂
PS: for Shaman (elemental) Leatherwork or Enchanting? 😛
Same for mesame thing happened to me.
If you mean by “do thisIf you mean by “do this quest now”, to accept or turn in a quest, then you should have arrows (if you have installed the addon Lightheaded!)
If you mean steps which want you to complete a quest, there should be arrows for them as well, but those have to be included by the guide authors. So if they are missing it means that the guide needs to be revamped to reach the quality we want to achieve.
Thank you, noted this for aThank you, noted this for a “known mistakes” page I’m planning to make.
Should you get arrows forShould you get arrows for all “do this quest now” bits? Because I’m pretty sure I don’t for everything.
Should just remove thatShould just remove that information altogether. Since we have TomTom arrows pointing you to the exact location, giving such directions is useless.
Weird, I’ll take a look atWeird, I’ll take a look at it.
Guide continuityFinishing Feralas 46 section, the guide jumped to Snowflake’s Ghostlands guide instead of 47-48 Tanaris section.
small fixI’m currently testing your howling fjord guide addon and on the part where you are to go from Unu’pe to Warsong Hold the Waypoint for Warsong Hold is set in Borean Tundra by the Ember Clutch.
Glad to helpYea I’m just glad to help out 🙂
Quick correction to guideIn the “Snowflake’s Ghostlands Guide (13-21)” on the part it directs you to do “Down the Dead Scar”.
It says: They are in the Dead Scar, east of Tranquillen.
Of course the Dead Scar is west not east 🙂
Ok, thank you. It will beOk, thank you. It will be fixed soon.
Tanaris 46 section missing stuffmissing this whole section from the leveling guide:
While killing stuff in Tanaris if you find an item named OOX-17/TN Distress Beacon. Right click it and keep the quest. You’ll find beacons in Feralas and Hinterlands as well, proceed equally with those. Each of those beacons start a quest where you will have to find a Homing Robot and escort it. The beacons won’t always drop for you, they are kinda rare. The escort quests are hard to do solo especially for certain classes. But if you are lucky to find all 3 beacons you should really put the effort and finish all 3 rescue quests, it will be described when to do them in the guide later on. Anyway, if you don’t get a distress beacon, or if you don’t manage to complete the rescue quests, it’s not a big deal, this is optional, it’s a nifty exp bonus but it’s not that important.
Sell, Repair, re-supply food/drink (3 stacks).
No map needed for this very short part.
Get out of Gadgetzan, ride east until Noonshade Ruins (61,24), kill all the Bandits you can find there (If it’s crowded just skip this part and keep riding east).. Then go further east to Steamwheedle Port even if you still haven’t completed Wastewander Justice yet.
In Steamwheedle port get:
* [45]Pirate Hats Ahoy!
* [44] Screecher Spirits
* [45] Southsea Shakedown
Turn in [45]Stoley’s Debt and get the follow up [46]Stoley’s Shipment.
Ride back towards Gadgetzan, make a stop at Noonshade Ruins and kill bandits / thieves there until you finish Wastewander Justice and have 10 Wastewander Water Pouches. If the place is crowded, there are more wastewander camps southeast of here (63,30).
Go back to Gadgetzan and turn in:
* [46] Slake That Thirst, don’t take the follow up.
* [44]Water Pouch Bounty
* [43]Wastewander Justice, get the follow up [44]More Wastewander Justice.
Ride north to Thousand Needles and to the Shimmering Flats at the Mirage Raceway (80,75).
…which i didn’t discover was missing until i got to middle of feralas 46 guide, where it tells you to go do the screecher quest.
Hmm, that’s odd, I justHmm, that’s odd, I just checked the file and it looks like it’s spelled right, and I don’t recall having that problem while testing. Not sure what would be causing it.
AHA! I found the problem. In the file, “The” is capitalized, but it shouldn’t be. I’ll fix it and upload it. For now just accept it and manually check off that step.
