Grail is a library addon maintained by Tepes on CurseForge. WowHead certainly needs no introduction. And my evil syntax checker has been generating reams of errors that folks like Crackerhead22 have attacked.
So I enhanced my syntax checker to check the validity of the QID tags for A and T steps and the validity of the PRE tags as well against both Grail and then WoWHead as a double check, if Grail claims something is wrong.
Results:
32 Obsolete quests in the guides, that Grail and WoWHead agree on
282 Quests that Grail claims do not exist that WoWPro and WoWHead agree exist
~9000 Quests that Everybody agrees on.
Look closely at the first error, and you can see a more subtle problem.
The PRE tag quest is not in Grail, but is in WowHead, but is not the right number.
It should be 28713 not 38713.
I also compared cross checks on map points, but I do not know what to make of the data as yet.

I would think when comparingI would think when comparing the guides against Grail for the most part take your guides’ data as you have many more eyes on them and they are being updated faster than Grail. All the original data for Grail was pulled from wowhead, but I can attest that (1) wowhead does have errors, (2) wowhead has since the original pull corrected some of their errors. So this means the Grail data is not in current agreement with even wowhead. Instead of Grail taking data directly from the guides (which could shortcut a lot of issues), its database is being updated the good old-fashioned way – painstakingly going through the quests and updating all the lovely information. Basically, the same thing that was done to create the guides in the first place. Now that Midsummer is here, a lot of the Alliance quests have been updated, but I do not have the resources to get all the Horde ones done.
