Tailoring Gold
By Domobb

Tailoring is a great profession. People don’t understand tailoring quite as well as they could. I thought it was a rubbish profession to use to make money. Although I have developed a great way to make gold with tailoring, and it involves using the auction house, but it is simple and free.

Addons:
Auctioneer

Requirements:
Tailoring from level 1-450.
Some items may require higher level tailoring to make so just stick to items that you can make.

These items you will want to make because they sell easily, and higher levels buy them for there alts to level up quicker.
Good sellers.
Simple kilt – may take from 20s-1g to make, sell higher price depending on price cost to make. (sell in bulk) http://www.wowhead.com/?item=10047
Tuxedo pants – may take 1-3g to make, sell for 10-15g, these are great because they are rarer to the jacket. (sell 1-3 at a time) http://www.wowhead.com/?item=10035
Enchanters cowl – Not to expensive, only make if thick spider’s silk is cheaper than 20s, sell 3-5g. (sell 1-2 at a time) http://www.wowhead.com/?item=4322
Soft-soled linen boots – takes around 1-2g to make, sell for 3-4g depending on price. (sell in bulk(6) ) http://www.wowhead.com/?item=4312
Dreamweave vest – this is an awesome item because it may take only 1-3g to make, and you can sell it for 20-40g. (sell 1 at a time) http://www.wowhead.com/?item=10021
Dreamweave circlet – another great item just like the vest. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=10041
Dreamweave gloves – another great item just like the circlet and vest. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=10019
Spidersilk boots – these boots may only cost 1-5g to make, although 1 mat is very expensive, if you find it cheap can sell up to 40-60g http://www.wowhead.com/?item=4320

CLOTH, CLOTH, CLOTH!

Buy cloth, cloth is very valuable because it can be cheap, but the next day jump a load. The same as mining ores.
Always buy linen if it is 20s or lower a stack.
Always buy runecloth if it is 2g or less a stack.
Always buy mageweave if it is 1g or less a stack.
Always buy silk cloth it it is 50s-1g or less a stack.
Always buy Wool cloth if it is 50s or less a stack.

*NOTE*, if you notice shadow silk or thick spiders silk for less than 20s a piece, buy it, will help in making items.

Now you should be on your way with making money using tailoring. One more thing. If you wish to make more money, take the mining profession as your second and follow this mining guide: Mining 1-450

Good luck Tailoring your gold.

Here’s a few things to addHere’s a few things to add to your list:
    • Bags. Most bags you can produce, in particular Runecloth and Netherweave bags can be desired and highly profitable. Once you’re past 375, use Frostweave bags to level your skill until it’s gray to eliminate the majority of the cost to level your skill.
    • Armor kits. The Spellthread you can produce are very cheap to make, especially the blue-quality ones, and can be sold (at times) for 5x material cost.
    • Specialty items. TBC epic items and TBC rare cloth are items that you may be able to sell one or two of, as well as any items that require rep to learn.
The above tips also apply to Leatherworking!

Above all else, use your cloth cooldowns each and every time they’re up! You can always trade the cloth you’re specialized in for another type.

I can’t agree with muchI can’t agree with much here. Buy mageweave when it’s 1g or less? When is the last time you saw a stack of mageweave for 1g? These days, it never drops below 10g making it far more cost effective to sell the cloth than anything you can make with it.

On that list, Spidersilk Boots are the only item I can agree with. The only problem is that with the speed of leveling through the early twenties, only 19 bg twinks are really interested in shelling out for them. That’s a pretty limited audience.

Some things that you really can make money on at the early levels: The Phoenix gloves/pants and Robes of Arcana if you’re willing to farm up the patterns, Spidersilk Drape, Gloves of Meditation if you know an alchemist who works cheap. I’m sure there are more, but honestly I’ve made far more money using tailoring to make disenchantables and selling the materials.

I think you’re new to guideI think you’re new to guide writing. If that’s the case, please read the guide-writing-guides under general guides, here on this site.

This is somewhat a strange guide, because it could perfectly fit in a tailor-leveling guide, and not having to be a guide on it’s self. Ah well, I hope you’ll improve the guide.

That’s an okay guide, but itThat’s an okay guide, but it could be improved a lot. A few suggestions:

Add wowhead links for each item you suggest to make.

Try to suggest an average sale price for each time. I know it differs depending on server and economy, but a rough estimation would be a plus.

Try to make it look nicer overall. Inspire yourself with some of our guides with nice layouts, like for example: Eternal Farming
Keep it up!
