Emmeleah and I have been chatting on the side and I am going to rejigger the way Garrisons are done.
Garrision quests come in a few flavors:
- Quests that an integral part of the leveling guides or that naturally belong there.
- Quests that independent of the leveling guides and depend on the buildings and garrison state.
- Quests that are daily/weekly in nature
- Quests that are raid quest lines
So I think we need to add 3 guides for types 2, 3 and 4. They would not be like regular guides that you switch to. They would be triggered guides. A triggered guide would be a guide you would be offered to switch to when you accepted the quest and would be a high priority on the guide selector. So there would be no angst about doing it now or later in a leveling guide. The user can decide when to do it. A triggered guide would have a:
WoWPro:GuideTriggered(guide)
WoWPro:GuideNextGuide(guide, “previous”)
in the prologue. This would cause the guide to be scanned when it was loaded and a table built of all the QIDs in the guide. Thereafter, if any of those QIDs are accepted and they are not handled by the current guide, the offer to switch guides would be done. The next guide of “previous” would return the user to previous guide they were in.
Anyways, I have the day off tomorrow, so I am going to try to implement a draft of this and finally turn on the guide selector!
Garrions, Guides and RanksI was also going to make another set of changes. I want to change the rank setting in the control panel to set the *default* rank for all guide types.I want to add a rank setting for each guide type, including rank ‘0’ which means do the default.I would also add a guide specific rank for every guide. That will let you change the rank level for a specific guide, class of guides or for everything. It also gives me a way of “ranking” the importance of a guide for guide selector purposes.
yeah, basically that 😉 yeah, basically that 😉 There are times when I want to get it down as quick as I can, then others.. quest out the complete zone… or in this case, get the garrison up asap to max, toon to max, then go back and request the rest (ie reset to guide to lvl 3)and with nagrand the ‘garrison of my own’ or something like that it’s called….
new guide typeEDITTED TO SAY: oops. this was supposed to be a reply to “Yes, say Rank 1…” not a new thread :(The new guide type (If i understand it correctly) wouldnt be the same thing. It covers all the buildings and invasion and whatever else comes up IN your garrison,Where as, (If I understand correctly) you are looking at the questline that unlocks the blueprints in each of the other zones as well. So, in gorgrond its the bony xuk and stonemaul arena if you chose arena and tangleheart and evermorn if you chose lumber milltalador its going to the gorduni questline and the initial majistor/morkoth bladehowl questsspires would be initial skettis quest line, pinchwhistle, murkbog if you choose smuggles or the one where your barkeep gets poisoned if you choose breweryI dont remember anymore w hat nagrands qualifying quest is. it would be the initial setting up your garrison outpost line and maybe that is all?
yes, say rank 1 is everythingyes, say rank 1 is everything need unlock blueprints etc, and (just enough to) move you through the zone…rank 2 – does 1, and quests, that would be important (but still not complete quest the zone)..Rank 3 – chasing the loremaster, and/or doing everything possible in the zone… too bad we didnt have more ranks.. 😉 but only really needed in Dreanor… but then again thinking more on it, IF Ludo was making it work for the simultaneous access to the garrison guide, then that would basically do ‘1’ without having to rework all the guides….. Dangit I dunno, I dont know which would work, or be less work.
garrisons leveling guideLudovicus is working on exactly that, basically we are taking the garrison support quests out of the leveling guides and giving them thier own guide that can be accessed simultaneously, hopefully seamlessly switching back and forth.or…am I totally misunderstanding the question? Are you looking for a guide that has the minimum needed to level your garrison. I’ve been thinking about that. Set the essential chain to rank 1[the one that let’s you buy the blueprints], and everything else to rank 2 [except leaving what is currently at rank 3 will stay rank 3]I’ve also been contemplating making a followers guide, having all the quests necessary for each follower. All that is fine and good, but I’m supposed to be implementing a time clock at work, so I don’t have as much free time as usual, and it may be March before I get to it.
How difficult would it be toHow difficult would it be to have one leveling guide (if on a ‘new’ toon) that would just be the quests need to level and level your garrison? or if one set completeness to ‘1’ on the zone guides, would that just give us that?
