This guide will hopefully solve any problems you are having with the addon.
For instructions on how to download/install our addon see the How to Install section on this page.
Be sure you always completely close WoW and restart it after modifying your addons and before going any further. If all else fails, try a full computer restart, it can actually clear up a lot of issues.
*Note, our site only provides support for live realms. If you are playing on a private server, our addon may not work for you.
BEFORE YOU READ FARTHER: Is your version of our addon up to date? Is your version of TomTom up to date? If you answered no, please go update them as a first troubleshooting measure!
Table of Contents
- I don’t have an arrow.
- My frame says No Guide Loaded.
- Addon isn’t showing up at all, or my guide list is empty.
- I’m missing only one guide.
- I lost my guide window!
- I need to skip just ONE step!
- I checked off a step and now I can’t go back.
- I checked off all of the steps and now I can’t select the guide on the guide list.
- I’ve enabled the wrong guide or I want to have no guide enabled.
Problem: I don’t have an arrow to guide me.
Solution:
- Make sure you have TomTom installed and updated. If TomTom is broken, try Carbonite instead for the time being.
Problem: When I log in, My addon says “No guide loaded”. What should I do?
Solution:
- Right click on the header of the addon, or the panda next to your mini map and choose “Guide List”. Select a guide. There you go!
Problem: I have no guides in the guide list. Or, the addon isn’t showing up at all.
Solution:
-
- Make sure that you have separate WoWPro files in your addon folder. Here are common locations for the file. Be aware Blizzard changed the default location of addons in December 2018.
Windows XP location:
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\Addons
Windows Vista/7 location:
C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\Addons
Windows 8/10 location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\Addons
Mac location:
Macintosh HD/Applications/World of Warcraft/_retail_/Interface/Addons
This picture is for a custom Windows 10, but should help you understand what we mean by seeing Multiple folders, not one:
Make sure you also close wow 100% before trying to see your changes.
If, after trying all of this, you are STILL unable to see the addon in your in-game checklist, AND if you use the curse auto-updater, please try the following:
-
-
- Open the Curse Client and go to Tools –> Options –> Games and Addons
- UNcheck “Yes, manage the addons for this game” for World of Warcraft, then click “Done”.
- Try installing our addon again by dragging the extracted (unzipped) folders (BOTH WoWPro and WoWPro_Leveling) to your addons folder.
- Start WoW back up. You should see our addon in-game.
- You can now safely go back into the Curse Client and allow it to manage your addons – just remember not to update our addon with it, as you won’t get all the guides!
-
Thanks to Screamindaemon for this workaround!
Problem: Wait! I’m only missing XXXXXX guide! What now?
Solution:
-
- Make sure you have the most recent update from our site. Curse, WoWInterface, etc. are not updated as frequently.
- If an update doesn’t fix the problem, try emptying your Saved Variables, located in your WoW WTF Folder. Example for Windows XP: Program Files\World of Warcraft\_retail_\WTF\Account\YOURACCOUNTNAME\Saved Variables Once there, delete all files that begin with “WoWPro”.
- Open your addon folder for WoWPro Leveling. Select your faction folder. Make sure the guide is in the folder. If it is, check the .xml file and be sure it’s on the list.
- If the file that you are missing is Horde Vash’jir, try the following:Open the WoWPro_Leveling folder, then open the Horde folder. Open “80_82_Arixan_Vashjir.lua” with a text editor (like Notepad). Go all the way to the last line. The last thing you should see is…
end)
If it is not there, then add it underneath the ]]
Problem: I lost my guide window!!!
Solution:
Reset your profile. Right click on the panda or open your Interface menu, Addons tab. Under WoW-Pro Guides, click WoW-Pro Profiles, then Reset Profile.
Problem: I need to skip a step, just one, not 100. How?
Solution:
Right click on the step. If you still have trouble, see the next solution.
Problem: I checked off a step, and now I can’t go back!
Solution 1:
- Right click on the guide window header, click on “Current Guide”, uncheck the steps that you want to go back to.
Solution 2:
- If the first way doesn’t work. Reset the guide. Right click on the guide window header. The last option should be Reset Current Guide. Click that baby!
Problem: I clicked off all of the steps and now can’t select my guide in the guide list.
Solution:
Shift click on the guide in the guide list.
Problem: I’ve enabled the wrong guide or I want to have no guide enabled.
Solution 1:
You can select a different guide by right clicking in the guide pane heading and then choosing the guide you wanted.
Solution 2:
You can disable the addon by right clicking in the guide pane heading and then choosing the wow-pro module you want disabled and clicking the disable checkbox.
Solution 3:
If you only want the guide temporarily disabled for example while in dungeons or pet battles there is a option in the display settings for that (which is disabled by default).
If none of the above solutions work for you, feel free to contact us in the Addon Questions Chat or on Discord at https://discord.gg/cdKB94f.
If possible please copy any lua errors you are receiving or take a screenshot of your issue. Thanks!
I have no access to any of the other guides, just professions only. Any help would be very grateful.
RE:Show only primary stepthere are two things that may what you are looking for. Both are on the general options. You may be looking for the Rank setting, (which is on the right towards the top of the screen) set it to Rank 1 for the minimal amount of steps. (Options are 1 to 3)Or… you may be looking for number of steps displayed st a time. That setting is towards the bottom of the screen on the left. It can be set to any number. (Or perhaps it’s 1 to 10?)
Show only primary stepI forgot how to make the guide stop showing bonus steps and only show the current step. I don’t see the option anymore, so did you remove it? I could have sworn I saw an option to do that and now I need to know how again.
Re: Got it working. ThanksGlad to hear it.
Got it working. ThanksGot it working. Thanks all!Should have watched the whole video 🙂
RE: Cant get Guides to loadThere is a current bliz bug (and there is an addon that fixes it) when you pick the settings (for most/all?) addons that it takes you to the blizzard interface addons tab. You need to click on addons at the top of that window and find wowpro (in the alpha list of addons). This is the same list you see if you hit ESC then click Interfac and choose the addons tab
RE: Can’t get Guides to loadOK, the fact that the window shows up means you installed it right. You need to right click on the top part of the window and pick:WoW Pro Guides -> Guide ListYou will then see a set of tabs for the different types of guides. Pick “Leveling” and then select the guide for the zone you are in.Or Right click on the Panda around the minimap and then select “Guide List” and do as above.
Can’t get Guides to loadHi. May be rusty. Haven’t played WoW for 5 years.Just DLed it and started new account. Started a Dwarf hunter and got him to level 8 then decided to load your addon.Followed instructions and DLed WoW+v2.7.0.zip and TomTom-v50400-1.0.0.zip and extracted all the folders into the interface/addon folder.Guide window shows up no guide. Says right-click to load. I do and make sure the WoW-Pro Leveling Guide is checked. CLick on Apply, but it still doesn’t show up in the window. What am I missing?
error: need full versionI am having the same problems. I have uninstalled and deleted any trace of wowpro form every folder on my computer. I check and see that the add on is not showing up in my wow loading screen. I then download from curse. When I try to load the guide list again it always shows “‘It seems that you’re using a trial version, you need to download the full version from the website”. This is getting frustrating. I really enjoy the add on when it is working but I just can’t figure out what to do to get it to work again. disappointing.

Re: It says I need the full versionHave you followed the directons on the front page: https://wow-pro.com/addon ?
Re: Need full versionFirst off, you have to get rid of the trial addon. You can nuke it from the curse client or you can nuke it by deleting the WOWPro folders from the World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns folder.Start up WoW and at the addon page, verify that there are no more WoWPro addons. If you still have it, you have either more than one copy of the game or you installed the WowPro addon into more than one directory. Repeat until nuked. Then follow the install instructions. If you let Curse manage WowPro, it will overwrite the one you carefully downloaded the next time you update through Curse.Mark WowPro as not to be managed by Curse.
Need full versionI have same problem as Elfty. When i start WOW (was doing the guide ‘Hellfire Peninsula’ ) The guide is not loaded. I get the message ‘It seems that you’re using a trial version, you need to download the full version from the website. I get this after installing latest version (2.4.1) I did get the latest version from the website , did the upgrade first with ‘Curse’ then manually. None of this works. Also tried this:—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–If, after trying all of this, you are STILL unable to see the addon

I’ve noticed that in the column ‘progress’ of all guides (the ones i cannot load ) is marked as 1/1, where others are completed or it says 20/180 for example.I’v also noticed that in de add-on page (befor login WOW) there are 6 wow-pro add-ons but 4 are out of date. When i uncheck the out of dates there’s no change. The list won’t work. What is going wrong?
It says I need the full versionI have downloaded directly from your site, but when I load in game it says I have a trial version and I need to get from your site. Help ?
Re: Have to say the addon isYeah, the last update to MoP (5.1) broke our reputation handling. We have a patch testing right now and hope to get an update out today.
Have to say the addon isHave to say the addon is great! Having this problem where the guide stop changing to the next step after I have done the previous one, not sure if it’s about I Have not checked it manually (asked in the guide) before I selecting sides (in Shattrath City, and I have chosen Aldor). The guide just stop working after that, I have tried reseting, log out, exit game, reload guide but none is working.Pls Help~!
Professions UpdateI am hoping to have the professions up and working prior to the relase.
profession guide not workingthe professions r not working for me. it is not reading what i have done and starts at step one. then i right-click to get up to where i am but i can’t it jumps to train journeyman(i cant left-cickit dos nuthing). if i go to current guide i can see all the steps. i dont know why its not going throug the steps plz help i love thes addon and have used it for a long time.
oh.. well either way illoh.. well either way ill use it for solo lvling. Id like to find, or see you implement a feature that uses what i call smart injection? The addon looks at your toon history, lvl, and class type and then applys these factors to where u could lvl fastest… I know addons can look at quest histories because Carbonite does, and we can actually look at them. Since the smart injection looks at lvl, it could adapt by itself to RaF or Hierlooms. And even if that isnt possible… maybe a feature to limit the amount of gathering quests? those types can rlly rlly slow down raf.And even on the side of that, somebody could always make a RaF quest guide right?Im actually thinking about it… but my friend likes dungeons more than quests lol Anyhow thanks for the quick reply!
Honestly, our guides are doneHonestly, our guides are done as if you have no heirlooms, guild bonuses or RaF. You can always skip ahead if you wish.
RaFHiya, ive been reading up on this addon. I was wondering about using it with RaF… Will it self adjust to our insane leveling, is there certain guides, or is there a settting to adjust it myself? Very good work thus far. Id like to see me and my friend using it soon xD
Re: I’m on Alliance, and I hadIt is a bug in our addon. If you set a waypoint in TomTom manually, our arrival logic can get screwed up.You might try doing:/way reset all/reloadands see if it starts working. PS: I am not familiar with the Taranir quests. What zone are they in? What level is your toon?
I’m on Alliance, and I hadI’m on Alliance, and I had choseen the Taranir quests. Really, I hadn’t touched a thing since setting the guide up, and it simply stopped working correctly. As of now, only the TomTom arrow works and seems to know what I’m supposed to be doing – it just won’t show up in the actual guide.
Re: Guide suddenly stopped working. What guide were you in? Were you playing Horde or Alliance? The Guide selection menu should say which step you were on (39/147 for example).Had you set or cleared any waypoints manually?I need a little more information.
Guide suddenly stopped working.I am honestly not sure what happened, but I was doing a quest, and all of a sudden the guide showed the “No guide loaded” error. I tried reloading the one I wanted, but it wouldn’t show up. Restarted, and when I tried messing with it again, it gave me this:

There was a recent update toThere was a recent update to the source code page, but not the guide in the addon. Jiya should be pushing an update out soon.
Guide is not moving forward on its ownUsing windows vista, Human starting area guide Elwyn Forest (lvls 1-11). 99% of the time this guide is not auto moving forward as I complete objectives and I am having to manually check them off. What is also weird is once or twice it did do it on its own likes its suppose to. Any fix for this?
hehe that’s ok then :Dhehe that’s ok then 😀

HELPI too am having trouble with my add on guide. the add on works, and I can access everything from the menu/config area; however the little pop up box has disappeared. I have reinstalled, get the same thing; reset the thing from the menu options nadda..
any ideas on how to get it to work ?
I just tried this again andEDIT:
I’m sorry…didn’t see your second response before posting this…..
It worked! We are back in business! Thank you so much!
Love the guide/addon and have been singing its praises to all my buddies…now theres even more to sing about! Thanks again for the help!
Adding the ClampedToScreenAdding the ClampedToScreen script to the main frame solves this problem as users can’t then drag it off screen no matter how hard they try. I did send you this code before, but it’s never made it into a release version :(update the mainframe creation to this:— Main Frame —function WoWPro:CreateMainFrame() local frame = CreateFrame(“Button”, “WoWPro.MainFrame”, WoWPro.AnchorFrame) frame:SetClampedToScreen(true) frame:SetMovable(true) frame:SetResizable(true) frame:SetHeight(300) frame:SetWidth(200) frame:SetMinResize(150,40) frame:SetPoint(“TOPRIGHT”, WoWPro.AnchorFrame, “TOPRIGHT”) frame:EnableMouseWheel() WoWPro.MainFrame = frameThe highlighted line can be added anywhere within the frame creation code.

I’ve answered it enough times that I had a copy/paste response, maybe I should add it to the FAQ… though theoretically this will not be an issue in the new version.

Issues with Guide Display on 1 toon..I cannot for the life of me get the quest guide display to come back onto my screen. I tried reseting the profile and even deleting and redownloading the entire addon and still on ONE of my toons the guide display refuses to show up. It is visable on all my other characters except the one, though the addon IS working since I have the arrow that is directing me to the next quest in the guide (which IS visible under “current guide” in the interface/addons tab). Have you heard of this before? Is there something that I did on this Character’s specific UI that screwed something up (though I restored all defaults and still didn’t fix it)? Please help! its kinda frustrating 🙂
I’m not exactly sure if youI’m not exactly sure if you are saying the arrow is in the middle of your screen, in the way (as wkjezz assumed and answered) or if you mean the point the arrow is pointing to is following you.If it’s the second case – update TomTom. This is not a bug with our addon, it means you are in one of the new zones and TomTom doesn’t know what to do. Make sure you have the most up to date versions of things as a first troubleshooting test, please. If you DO have the most up to date version of TomTom and you are still having trouble, let me know.
this should workhold down alt or shift then click and drag the arrow
