img
Jun

This is my first guide that I had never meant to do. It started with a post to let the website know that you can now AOE grind with your druid and somwhow ended up with a guide lol.

Because this is a work-in-progess, I will note UPDATES in the AREAS section

A feral druid level 57 is recommended to effectively AOE grind mass numbers. You need to attain a level 60 weapon and enchant it with Lifeward. However, you can start as soon as you get bear form and swipe.

3. GEAR / ENCHANTS / GLYPHS

Swipe damage is based on AP therefore chose gear with the following stats: AP > STA > STR > OTHER

Enchant Weapon Lifeward This is what heals you enough to make this possible! Lifewardh heals for 250-400 and procs ALOT!

Try to quest Thunder Capacitor ASAP. With all the swipe crits, this does amazing damage. There are other similar trinkets that I am working on.

Major Glyphs:

Glyph of Maul

Glyph of Frenzied Regeneration

Glyph of Survival Instincts

4. MACROS

/cast survival instincts
/cast frenzied regeneration
/cast Barkskin

This macro is essentially for emergencies. It increases your HP so frenzied regeneration is better then uses barkskin to reduce damage. This should bring you to full health everytime…just remeber not to use abilities during frenzied regeneration if rage is low.

#showtooltip Swipe
/cast Swipe
/cast maul

This is your main attack button. You need to key bind this, I reccomend “E”, and spam. When there are just a few mobs left, [ALT-V] to show health bars and target the mob with highest amount of HPs left.

5. GRINDING

1. Pull a group of mobs or round up singles on your mount then “pop”into bear form.
2. Keep mobs infront of you so you can dodge
3. Use Faerie Fire and Growl to pull far away mobs
4. Use demoralizing roar every 5 seconds while pulling mobs; especially yellow or non aggro mobs
5. Start backing up towards more mobs while keeping things infront of you spamming swipe macro
6. Once you get to 60%-80% or you think you shouldn’t pull anymore STOP moving
7. Every 15 seconds re-apply demoralizing roar
8. If below 10% or you think you will die use the emergency macro and while frenzied regeneration is healing you STOP ALL ATTACKING if rage drops low.
9. When you only have a few mobs left, [ALT-V] to show health bars, then target the mob with the highest health. This way you will maul it and the remaining mobs will drop about the same time. This is important so that you do not run out of rage and unable to use your abilites.

6. AREAS

Level 57-65

Bonestripper Vultures and Bonestripper Buzzards in Hellfire

Level 67-70

The Wooly Rhinos north of Warsong Hold in Borean Tundra. Use Demoralizing shout for pulling here.

Level 70-72

Go to Scalding Pools (58,27) NE of Warsong Hold and pull Oiled Fledgelings and Oil-stained Wolves. Just SW you will find lots of Wooly Mammoths.

More areas in the works as I level my druid. 🙂

7. SUMMARY

With this spec gear and glyphs you will take very little damage, will have lots of HP, will dodge a lot, will gain a huge amount of rage fast, will REGAIN a lot of HP from critting/hitting mobs, and will get INSANE XP!!

The main reason this works is because Lifeward procs off swipe which means every swipe you can regain up to 2-3k HP.

OK Your patience will be rewarded!

Moved to Archive SectionWe are recently working on improving the quality of content here on WoW-Pro.com, both by limiting low ranked guides and by moving out of date guides into archives. For more information, see [url=https://www.wow-pro.com/node/3016]the full news post detailing this process[/url].

Your guide has been moved to the archive section for the following reasons:

If you improve your guide to address these issues, you are welcome to move the guide back to it’s proper category. If someone else would like to adopt the guide, please leave a comment.

This is correct, the reasonThis is correct, the reason being that usually parentheses after a spell name indicate the rank of the spell. WoW’s macro system gets confused because of this for these special druid abilities, so you have to add an additional set of parentheses. An empty set tell the game to use the highest rank of the spell.

    Sep 28, 2009 @ 11:00 am

Actually….Actually, for that macro to work, you would also need to add parentheses after Bear too.

    #showtooltip
    /cast Swipe (Bear)()
    /cast Maul

I don’t know why, but I have to add them in order for WoW to use the highest rank, and without them, it says it’s not a spell…

I dunno if it’s something with my game, but I thought I should throw that out there in case anyone else has problem.

MacroThe Swipe macro in the guide doesn’t actually work, you have to put (Bear) after Swipe, like this:

    #showtooltip Swipe (Bear)
    /cast Swipe (Bear)
    /cast Maul

Overall a great guide and an even better video 🙂

One more thing…I couldn’t get the Thunder Capacitor to work at all with this build, but the Darkmoon Card: Madness (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=31859) works awesomely well. Because you are swiping so many things, the card procs all the time, meaning you can have as many as 9 buffs from the card going at once. And lasting for 60 seconds each buff. I found it to be definitely worth the gold (from 250g to 700g on my server). The buffs are:

    * Delusional: +70 attack power (Rogue, Hunter, Paladin, Warrior, Druid, Shaman)
    * Dementia: Every 5 seconds either gives you +5% or -5% damage/healing. (Druid, Shaman, Priest, Warlock, Mage, Paladin)
    * Kleptomania: +35 agility ( Warrior, Rogue, Paladin, Hunter, Druid)
    * Manic: +35 haste (spell, melee and ranged) (All classes except Hunter)
    * Martyr Complex: +35 stamina (All classes)
    * Megalomania: +41 damage/healing (Druid, Shaman, Priest, Warlock, Mage, Paladin)
    * Narcissism: +35 intellect (Druid, Shaman, Priest, Warlock, Mage, Paladin, Hunter)
    * Paranoia: +35 spell/melee/ranged crit strike rating (All classes except Hunter)
    * Sociopath: +35 strength (Paladin, Rogue, Druid, Warrior)

Plus of course the +51 stam that the card gives you on equip. Might be worth considering anyway. 🙂

Thunder Capacitor – doesn’t make sense?I dont understand the Thunder Capacitor advice either. It says that it only works with spell strikes. Furthermore, I went and got the TC to try it, and it didn’t seem to proc even once from my swipes. Am I missing something?

And to the poster above who asked about tanking, I have used the build in this article to tank all instances up to and including normal HOL. It seems to be very useful for low-level tanking as well as grinding. 🙂

I don’t understand theI don’t understand the Thunder Capacitor.
you said With all the swipe crits

You gain a Thunder Charge each time you cause a damaging spell critical strike.

is swipe considered to be a spell or is the item description off ?

ps is there any way this build could tank 5 man normals in northrend?

I found this website when II found [url=http://www.teamopolis.com/tools/bbcode-table-generator.aspx]this website[/url] when I first started writing guides, it’s pretty good but doesnt’t do everything. Just enter your data and click enter and it will create the code for you.

Yeah, I know, but it’s abitYeah, I know, but it’s abit too complicated in that guide. Atleast for me it is 😛

It’s like formulas in maths: it’s much easier to have a formula and put in the numbers or values relative for you than to figure out HOW to make the formula and then make a similar formula from scratch. Same thing with tables.

  • img

Yeah sorry, it’s me again, IYeah sorry, it’s me again, I got a bunch of new suggestions. First I must say that this guide has been improved since first time I saw it. Thank you for doing that 🙂

    [list]
[*]It could be nice if you telled us a bit more about how fast this could be done? How much exp would you get /hour? Is it faster than Questing as a feral cat? You may want to add a section about how this.

[*]A nice way of showing the talent points, will be to make them inside a table. To give it an example, I’ll be making it like this

    Level Required
    Talents

    10-14
    5/5 Ferocity

    15-19
    5/5 Feral Aggression

The codes to make this is:
    [code]

    Level Required
    Talents

    10-14
    5/5 Ferocity

    15-19
    5/5 Feral Aggression

    [/code]
You can add more talent points to the list by adding a
    [code]

    [Level Range]
    [talent spell name]

    [/code]
Between the html and body tags. I think that this will make it more detailed.

[*] Make the video so we can watch it directly from wow-pro instead of clicking on the link, so it will show up in the text. Like one of the other users posted below, it’s very simple done. Go to http://www.youtube.com -> find your video and copy the ’embed’ link from the box to the right of your video into your wow-pro guide, and it will show up when you Prewiev it.

    [/list]
That’s all for now, your guide is great!

  • img
    Jun 16, 2009 @ 18:31 pm

level 57-62All you need is attack power and stamina gear and a weapon that you can put Lifward on. Thats it! Then gather the birds on mount, pop into bear form, and AOE them down. If you slowly back up as shown in my video, you can continually pull all the mobs in the area.

  • img
    Jun 14, 2009 @ 23:19 pm

Getting a Youtube video onGetting a Youtube video on WoW-Pro is actually quite easy, assuming the code mentioned above does the trick. Here’s how:

    1) Go to http://www.youtube.com
    2) Search for the video you want to upload, let’s say this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Xj99s1x5Vg
    3) On you right, beneath the description of the video you will see two boxes. One is named ‘URL’ the other is named ‘Embed’
    4) Put your cursor in the ‘Embed’ box. It will automatically select everything inside it.
    5) Use CTRL+C to copy it.
    6) Past it in your guide by using CTRL+V.

There you are. Now you should be able to view the Youtube video on WoW-Pro.

Once again, these steps assume that the embed code is the code mentioned above.

    Kind regards,

    Yokaij

IAll I can say is awesome.
I also found a video of a level 80 doing this.
It was in some oriental language so I could not read it.
I remember at one time blizzard said that all classes were going to have a way of aoe leveling.
If I remember it was when mages were first doing it.

Again this was a great read and a very nice video

any chance on some more info on the Level 57-65 part killing Bonestripper Vultures and Bonestripper Buzzards in Hellfire
not sure on the skills and eq that would be necessary at this level.

sure hope you continue with updates on this guide.

FeedbackI agree with everything that Trollvink has said, but would also add that the contents list can be improved (made interactive), you can do this by following the guide [url=https://www.wow-pro.com/general_guides/creating_table_contents_your_guide]here[/url].

The code to insert a video into a guide is:

    [ youtube ] http://www . youtube . com / watch?v= MH9zYewwdb0 [ /youtube ]

    (remember to remove spaces)

There is a small segement on the forum [url=http://nontt.com/f23/how-insert-videos-into-posts-using-bbcode-204/]here[/url] which explains it. The unique code for your video is [b]MH9zYewwdb0[/b], it appears in the URL when you are on the video’s page.

    Hope this helps.

Hmm, a nice guide! AHmm, a nice guide! A somewhat awkward subject, but very nice explained and very in-depth. I have a few suggestions, though, and I only to hope to improve your guide.

First of all, formatting, it can be a P.I.T.A, but it can also be easy and fast. What I always do for titles, is simply making them bold, and underlined.

    [b][u]Example[/u][/b]

See? It’s very clear, but only requires two commands.

Second, colours; remove them. They don’t make it any easier to read, nor making it more clarifying.

Then third, remove the different sizes as well, these [i]can[/i] bring more structure in the guide, but in this case, they don’t. Either fix them (by making them smaller) or remove them — whatever your lazyness orders you :p

And as last, remove the advertisements to the/your movie, just add one clear link in the beginning, and one clear at the end.

Nice guide, I hope you’ll use my opinions.

EDIT: Totally forget this; you can show youtube movies as well here in the guide-page, unfortunately, I can’t tell you how, because I do not know this… But it ís possible.

Pilfer is probably tooPilfer is probably too difficult of a concept for the ‘author’ to comprehend. Remember, just because you state something using the appropriate term, does not mean that people will accept the criticism that is due them. I probably would have told him that he ‘waited until everybody rolled greed on the it, then he needed.’ Not only would he have understood the severity of the offense, but he might not have been so defensive about the fact that he plagiarized another’s work.

To the ‘Author’, the knowledge that you were attempting to impart on this community is in the public-domain. Use your own language and this will not bite your backside in the future. Good luck tracking down the original author.

    Hah, brilliant! Pilfer itHah, brilliant!

    Pilfer it is 🙂

To the author: I see you have both continued to look into getting permission for this and are also spiffing it up and making it look nicer. I’m content to leave this up for now, keep trying to get ahold of the original author. If you can’t find him, I think it’s probably okay to leave this up unless he comes along and asks us to take it down. I’m thinking it was probably a forum post originally, which means it may be difficult to track him down.

Sorry for dealing with this a bit harshly, I’ve been under a lot of stress these last few weeks and it’s made me cranky >_< Thanks for being such a good sport about it!

Word other than “Steal”hey Jiyambi, try use Pilfer, much more adequite word in my opinion, btw nice guide.

  • img
    Jun 8, 2009 @ 22:37 pm

I’ve admitted that “steal”I’ve admitted that “steal” is a strong word. However it’s still the best word to describe this. If there was a “steal-but-slightly-less-harsh” word I would use it 😛

If you think I’m being harsh, it’s only because I’ve already dealt with this same conflict twice before on this site. It is actually illegal to re-post something without the original author’s permission, it is indeed a copyright violation. As I said above, I apologize that this is not more clearly stated in the site rules, and it will be revamped soon.

If you talk to the original author and get permission, it’s fine. However it sounds like the author on the site you found this was actually *also* “stealing”.

Just think about it in terms of the websites. Because our site has his guide, people might come to this site instead of his. That’s not exactly okay, is it? What if someone re-posted Jame’s guides on another site, even if they called them Jame’s guides and gave him credit? People may visit that site instead, Jame would lose money from ads, and the sight may not be able to stay online. That’s not okay, is it?

I’m sorry that this seems unfair, but it is how things have to be on this site. I’m not just speaking for myself here – Jame posted this same opinion when this conflict arose before. So this is *his* rule, not just mine.

EDIT: I just wanted to make it clear that this is still valuable information and I would still love to see a guide about it from you. The information itself cannot be copyrighted, but you’d need to re-write the guide yourself. As I said above, copy-pasting isn’t too good anyway because it left you with no formatting. A guide written by you and properly formatted would be a great addition to WoW-Pro.

But….[quote]If you checked the wesite, it’s called FREE WOW GUIDES. How do you STEAL something that is free.[/quote]

Jame’s guides are free. How would he feel if someone copied and pasted them onto another website?

I’m sure Jiyambi will replyI’m sure Jiyambi will reply to your post, but I wanted to state the following:

You say that because the original article was on a site called Free WoW Guides you’re free to use it. I’ll have to disagree. Copyrighted articles do not lose their copyright just because someone placed them on a site named Free WoW Guides. For example, if I’d make a website, put U2 music on it and name it FreeU2Music, would the music automatically lose its copyright? I don’t think so.

Moreover, you received a reply from Free WoW Guides regarding your question if you could post the article at WoW-Pro. Free WoW Guides answer was:

[Quote]To Holytetter, it’s not my work. I have stated it was written by krazy1killa at the bottom. Please give the original author credit if you want to repost. Thanks.[/Quote]

So, have you contacted the person who originally wrote this guide?

I’m not trying to be harsh here, but I think you were wrong stating that you didn’t steal this guide because it’s on a site called ‘FreeWowGuides’. I don’t think you stole it, but you didn’t give credit where it’s due.

    Kind regards,

    Yokaij.

  • img
    Jun 8, 2009 @ 13:49 pm

    A bit over the top….
I feel that you post is harsh and a bit over the top. I neither stole nor playgerized.

If you checked the wesite, it’s called FREE WOW GUIDES. How do you STEAL something that is free.

Also, I gave more credit then credit is due as I actually started editing and changing content as I play the spec and wanted to tweek it.

I have no problem is you want to say that you like to keep guides more original and please work on it, but please do not say that I STOLE the information which is not really what it is.

    DKs rule…others drool

  • img
    Jun 7, 2009 @ 0:11 am

Re-posting guidesI’m sorry, but without the permission of the author you may not repost guides word-for-word on here. I know you “gave them credit” but they still “own” these words, and reposting them without permission is stealing even if you happen to say that you’re stealing in the process. I know that’s a strong word for it, but that really is what it is.

I think the information is great, and the information itself cannot be “owned”, so if you wanted to do a complete re-write of the guide that would be okay. As the poster below me said, this needs a lot of formatting work anyway.

I’ll leave the guide viewable for a bit longer in case people want to comment about this, but it needs to be changed, and I’m going to put it back to work in progress until the change is made after a day or so.

Sorry about this, we’ll post more clear rules regarding copying other guides when I have time to revamp some of the rules pages on this site. Almost done with finals/projects/moving, so should be soon!

This is looking veryThis is looking very interesting, basically good information and a nice video. However I got some improvements this guide needs:
    [list]
    [*]
    [b]Colours/Sizes[/b]
What this guide could use is: Colours and Sizes. All of you’re text is just a boring grey, give the titles a bigger size a colour and the guide will become alot more ‘readable’. I advise you to take a look at [url=https://www.wow-pro.com/general_guides/colour_guide]this[/url] guide for further information.
    [*]
    [b]Links[/b]
Links will show up in a lesser confusing mode if you make them as hyberlinks. Basically, you’ll have to make a
    [ u r l = w w w . y o u r l i n k . c o m ] y o u r t e x t [ / u r l ] ( without the spaced ofc) tag.
Replace ‘www.yourlink.com’ with the link, and ‘your text’ with the text that need to show up.
    [*]
    [b]Lists[/b]
There is plenty much of lists, in your guide, and the best way to make them is to make it like this:
    [ l i s t ]
    [ * ] n u m b e r o n e
    [ * ] n u m b e r t w o
    [ / l i s t ]
    [/list]

That’s all for now. Basically, it’s just about text formatting, so I advise you to take a look at [url=https://www.wow-pro.com/jame_guide_writing_guide]Jame’s Guide Writing Guide[/url]
Looking forward to see improvements! So far I would give it 4/5 🙂
