A Fond (and possibly temporary) Farewell
As you've likely noticed, I've become a bit more scarce around the site lately. The truth is, I've been devoting almost all of my time to school and to my new career these days. The little free time I've had, I have wanted to spend with my significant other relaxing. I haven't actually logged into WoW since I posted the last addon update - and before that, I hadn't logged in for roughly two weeks.
I've come to realize that as much as I love this community, and as much as you have all done for me, I think it's time for me to take a step back from everything here. Even with the small amount I've been doing, I'm struggling a bit to keep up with my school work and stressing myself out. And, being a starving college student, I really can't afford to be paying 15$ a month just to stress myself out and not actually play at all.
Therefor, I have decided to cancel my WoW account. Subsequently, I won't be able to update and maintain the addon any longer. Likewise, producing guide and video content here on WoW-Pro is probably not going to happen. I still may log in occasionally and try to take care of some administrative things, but to be honest I've become so burned out on trying to do karma, moderation, and everything on my own that I'm not especially motivated to do this.
Unfortunately, I don't believe we have anyone at the 200 karma mark right now to be promoted to Moderator to help with these issues in my absence - excepting possibly Silvann, but he is in a similar situation as I am and I don't want to put to much pressure on him. If any of the senior contributors is interested in a moderator position, I would suggest sending a message to Jame - I know he does still check the site regularly even if he has been quiet. It's quite possible that, if you've proved yourself to be a helpful member of the community, he might promote you despite a shortage of points.
I want to thank everyone here on WoW-Pro for the wonderful opportunity you gave me with the WoW-Pro addon. Working on this project has had a tremendous effect on my life - not only was it a fun and rewarding experience in and of itself, it gave me a chance to try something that I have subsequently decided to pursue a career in. Plus I've been able to meet all sorts of awesome people!
The future of the WoW-Pro addon should not be in any danger. There are lots of very active and talented developers already working on the project. I am making sure all of the major developers have full privileges to the WoW-Pro addon's database - you should be able to manage the repository fully as well as post updates to the "downloads" section. You guys have been an absolute pleasure to work with, and I've learned so much from you! I'm not going to pick any one person to be "in charge" of the project, and I'll still check the git site frequently to see if anyone has questions I can answer, but at least for now I must step down from actively working on the project.
It's fully possible that I will return to WoW, WoW-Pro, and the addon project in the future. I'm not going to give a time frame because I just don't know how long a break I will need. I will at least be away until March, but after that it's all up in the air.
If you're still reading, thanks for sticking with me through this (extremely) lengthy farewell. Much love to all of you, and best of luck until we meet again!
NOTE: I will be checking this post over the next few days so if you have anything you need me to do or any questions before I fade away into the background, feel free to leave them here.
