Crashing WoW - Patch 5.3

I just installed version 2.6.0a by deleting all the old WoWPro folders and then putting the new ones in. Everytime I try and launch WoW with the addon enabled, it hangs and I have to crash it to close it. Any suggestions? I saw that the a version was meant to fix that issue but for me it isn't. I want to get back to levelling my alts with the XP reduction :P

FPS drop when WoW-Pro enabled

Since the last update I have a problem with my FPS.  When the WoW-Pro addon is disabled my FPS is 60-80.  Once I enable the addon my FPS drops to 1 - 10 and the game is unplayable.  When I disable it again, my FPS goes back up to 60-80.  I don't get any errors.

I am using the latest version, downloaded it from the site, removed the old version and did a clean install.

Trouble getting wow to register both

Hi,

I am having problems getting wow to show both wow-pro & carbonite in game, I have the trial version of wow-pro & have updated it but when I load into wow via the launcher directly it will laod carbonite just fine but no wow-pro & if I load the launcher via wow-pro I only get wow-pro & no carbonite, what am i doing wrong.

All i want to do is try this out first, before i decide to buy.

Re: Trouble getting wow to register both

I'm not sure what your problem is specifically, as I am not sure what this launcher is that you are referring to.

However, I am sure that the Trial version is out of date and that I forgot to update it when I released 2.5.0 .

I'll update it tomorrow.  It has some fixes for carbonite, but there have been other reports of compatability issues. We definitely work better with TomTom.

carbonite/wow pro

I really don't know why its not working for you . Im sorry about that. But...what I really wanted to address was your last sentance.  Wow-Pro is free :)

Are both carbonite and Wow Pro showing as enabled on the addon list that comes up when you click on "addons" from the character menu? Are you seeing any messages when you log in about either of them loading or not loading?

Quests auto-accepted but guide isn't continuing

I am currently on the Hellfire Peninsula guide with one of my alts.  When the guide tells me to accept a quest, the quest does get accepted but the guide doesn't move to the next step I have to manually click off (right click) the step but then the entire quest gets ignored all the same and the next steps for this quest aren't shown. This happened to me a lot at the Silithus, Tanaris, Dustwallow Marsh, etc etc guides as well.  I don't get an lua error, the addon just doesn't move on to the next step a lot of times.

Same here. Accepting quests

Same here. Accepting quests but it still says to get the quest from the guy. Tried reinstalling and deleting the files from WTF, but didn't help. Still the same issue. Seems not to be a problem with the guide as I've had this issue from lvl 80 to 84 now. Just doesn't work :(

Me too....weirdness

I have just started experiencing this in Grizzly Hills. Not sure what happened but it just stopped tracking and just listed points of quest pickup.

Similar issue

The guide seems to skip the quests to pickup and goes to next action step. When I pick up a quest I know would normally be picked up, it will back up to that action step.

Unable to select Worgen starting guide

I installed the guide for my daughter who is new to the game and she plays a lot of worgen characters. Recently her addon has bugged and will not let her select the worgen guide at all. I have tried to reset the guid by shift+clicking the guide in the guide list and it is not working. I even reinstalled the addon with no luck. Is there a master reset to reset the whole addon and forget it was ever used?

Re: Unable to select Worgen starting guide

Yeah, the big red button labeled "Reset the current guide" does a heavy duty reset.

What happens when you try to select the guide?  Does it go to another guide?  Do you get an error?

Post the error log!

2.4.3A Errors

Getting tons off messages and errors in 2.4.3A and it keeps trying to compare all quests I turn in with my current quest in my log WoW-Pro addon which is a lowbie one i decided to do on my 90... and it compares Current progress with ALL quests dailies, holiday dailies whatever.  It also gives the error about the Loot one someone else mentioned.

Debug Mode

When I click the green V to see the debug log, it crashes my wow all the time, giving me a critical error.  I'm not sure if it's me or if this is a bug.

When killing things I also get this error all the time (with every kill)

Problem installing

Can someone help me? The tutorial says to install in C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons but i haven't this directory, should i create it?

Emmaleah's picture

Directory

(I could swear I just answered this 5 min ago. but the answer seems to have vanished... so if it shows up, sorry for the double respons)

No, you should not create this directory.  You need to fine where YOUR addon directory is.  The easiest way to do this is to right click on your wow icon and choose properties (probably the bottom option).  On the Shortcut tab there will be a directory listed after the words "start in:" That would be your wow directory.  Add Interface\addons after that to navigate to your addons directory.

If you are using a mac, I have no clue :\

BOA's

Just curious if there is a way to have the guide relize that a user has BOA items and to move more quickly threw the guide.

Maybe some kind of check box to select the BOA's you currently have from 1-5 pieces, and addes the percentage bonus to the quest guide.

Not sure if this has been asked before but seems possible beings you all are so programmer savey that you where able to create the awsome guide.

Thanks for all you do.

Quest Flow

The RANK system is indeed meant to skip some quests if you don't want to do the whole zone. The problem is that this RANK system was implemented before WoW: Cataclysm, when there were still lots of quests in most zones that could safely be skipped. With the complete redesign of almost all quests that happened in Cata, this is no longer the case: In order to continue questing in a zone, you need to do almost all quests or the followups will not be offered.

Kind of a lame change in design from Blizzard, since they specifically designed Heirloom items to level faster, then changing quest design so you still have to do everything :P

If you just want to level as fast as possible and don't care about the background story that is told through the quests, my advice would be to do a zone until you have the required level to start the next one. Then you can abandon all quests you still have and start the next zone.

Life isn't like a box of chocolates, it's more like a jar of jalapeños: What you do today might burn your a** tomorrow.

Auto RANK

... just so you know what evil tricks are in Ludovicus' head.   I am working on a change that would automatically generate RANK tags for all quests in a guide.   Imagine that we had filled in all the PRE tags and LVL tags in each guide.  For each quest we assign a number which is equal to 1 more than the sum of all the PRE quests.  If a quest has no PRE in the quide, then its value is 1.   Now look at all the quests that are not listed in any other quests's PRE tag.

Those quests are the end of quests lines.  Now the weights assigned to the termini are going to over-weight some of the quest lines which feed off another quest line.  Once I figure out how to detect those, then I will be able to assign the prime lines to RANK1, the secondary branches to RANK2 and the rest to RANK3.

I think all the information I need can be provided by the Grail addon; I just need to do some graph analysis on the quest tree.

Emmaleah's picture

BoA's

some of the guides have been written with RANKS.  You can adjust this setting up or down to do more or less content on the guides that support that. That being said. Not all guides use ranks.

You can find this setting in the Guide Display options.

Grizzly Hills not updating...

Any time that I attempt to quest in Grizzly Hills, WoW-Pro doesn't update, nor does it communicate with the Quest Log when steps are manually checked off. I don't know about whether it does the same thing for me in Dragonblight or not since the updates. I can tell you that it USED to work in Dragonblight and Grizzly Hills pre-MoP.

Collapsed Headers in the Quest Log

I reproduced a problem where a guide would get "stuck" if the quest log header where the quests were landing was collapsed.

The addon now expands the collapsed headers, scans the quests and then puts it back the way it found things.

Fixes the problem for you too, I hope!

Ditto

I had the same problem with leveling through there a few weeks ago.

Re: Grizzly Hills not updating...

So the usual questions:

  1. What version of the addon, TomTom/Carbonite are you using?
  2. Horde or Alliance?
  3. What do you mean by "does not update"?  Do you mean the arrow is not tracking the quests?  Do you mean that you accept a quest in the guide from the NPC and the guide does not update?   A step by step description is key!

Re: Grizzly Hills not updating...

I'm having the same issue, and as far as I can tell, the problem is that every time your character interacts with anything, the Grizzly Hills section of the Quest log is contracted (as if you've clicked the "-" next to the zone name). I guess the way the levelling module works (I've seen the same bug before with TourGuide and others), it "reads" the quest log to check on your progress, and if you've contracted the quest log for the given zone it'll bug out.

Ludovicus_Maior's picture

Re: Re: Grizzly Hills not updating...

Oh!   That is a great clue.  We do read the quest log to see what quests you are on.  I'll try miminizing the quest log on a toon of mine and see what happens.

Melenthral's picture

1) I'm using WoW-Pro version

1) I'm using WoW-Pro version 2.4.1 and TomTom version 50100-1.0.2

2) Horde

3) It does not update the arrow, it does not track the quests, and it will reset back to the beginning of the guide the moment I kill ANYTHING.  When I accept a quest, the addon doesn't update, nor does it update when I complete or turn in quests.  It works the way that it's supposed to everywhere else (as far as I've seen) EXCEPT for in Grizzly Hills.

"Death is a release, not a punishment." - Inan, from the motion picture 'Dragonheart'

"Please...I use real sarcasm; never canned." - Anita Blake, from the Laurell K. Hamilton novel 'The Laughing Corpse'

What seems to happen is that

What seems to happen is that the Grizzly Hills quest directory in the quest log, collapses every time you kill something, thereby not allowing the wow-pro addon to communicate with it. I have to manually uncollapse (expand) the quest directory every time I kill something to keep wow-pro up and monitoring.

Having an Issue with the Profession Guide

I checked the FAQ, but didn't see my particular problem on there. The profession guide will only show the first step, about going and training the profession. I already have some of my profession built up, but it won't even let me manually skip the step.

Just downloaded the add-on today and I've got to say, I love the questing guides. It's a great add-on!

Emmaleah's picture

Professions Guide

Unfortunantly, the guy who is doing the professions module had some challenges, including among other things a hard drive crash, there were some major changes for MOP and he hasn't been able to get it updated yet.  We are glad you are enjoying the rest of the guides.

Emmaleah == bravely leading the way since ... um a long time ago... Smiling

Profession Guide Update??

So, with your guy down because of a hard-drive issue, when will the profession guide be fixed?  I see that some things are populated to advance, but like the other poster said, it only shows when to train to the next level.  It doesnt go to the leveling steps.

Thanks...

Great guides!

thanks!

Completely understand. Hope everything works out for him! And the leveling guide really is pro.

Not displaying guides

My guide list is totally empty. I followed all of the instructions in the troubleshooting guide. It's showing up for some characters, but not showing up for others. The guide acts like I'm still on a quest that I finished a long, long time ago and won't let me reset.

Emmaleah's picture

troubleshooting ?

Which characters is it working for? not working for? Is it faction specific? race specific? Did it work right previously and with this update quit working or was this an original install? Are you seeing any error messages (either in your chat box or the middle of the screen)?  Which modules do you have enabled? Do you have the same (other ) addon's on the chars it works for vs the ones it doesn't?  Anything else you think might help pinpoint the problem?

TomTom problems

I've been having problems with Tom Tom not clearing the waypoints since the latest update of WoWPro. I tested Tom Tom by itself and it cleared the waypoints, yet it didn't with WoWPro active. This is an annoying bug.

Not working at all for me.

Alright, I installed the plug in as needed. Its showing i have 85 of the 307 quests done in Azshara but iv only done maybe 50? Also its giving me quests i can't even get yet. Any idea why this is happeneing?

Emmaleah's picture

Problems in Azshara

As to the 85/307 that means 85 steps, not quests.  Most quests have 3 steps (accept, do, turn in) so at a guess you have done about 30 quests in the zone.  As to  the more important part of your question... What level are you?, what race (maybe its a problem with pandas?) what version of wow-pro, what version of tom tom? And lastly what was the last step that worked properly?

Emmaleah == bravely leading the way since ... um a long time ago... Smiling

Issues with my addon

I've been using wow-pro for a while, and leveled quite a few toons with it.  However, recently on my warrior, it has been acting strange.  When I was questing in Dragonblight, there were no way point arrows for any quests so I had to keep using the map.  Now I'm in Grizzly Hills and the guide is not updating.  It will accept the quest, but not update the guide to the next step.  Also if I am on quests like "loot x items" it no longer tracks how many I've looted to update when complete.

I switched to other toons to load the Dragonblight guide to see if it was character specific, and same thing - no waypoint arrows.

Emmaleah's picture

Dragonblight

I saw another person was having problems with the Dragonblight Alliance guide.  I believe the problem is caused by the addition of the "dragonblight" map level in the Dragon Soul raid.   Alas, I don't know how to fix it :(

editted to add... I verified in game, that is the problem, it is mapping to locations on the Dragonblight/Demon Soul map.

Just thought I'd add, I found a really crude fix. If you open the guide file (in a text editor like wordpad) while you are logged out of wow. Change where it says dragonblight to 488, it will map to the correct spot. Unfortunantly it will also say 488 as the name of the guide on the guide list and the guide pane.

example:

  • WoWPro.Leveling:RegisterGuide("JamDra7475", "488", "Jame", "74", "75", "JamGriA7577", "Alliance", function()

That will at least let you play thru dragonblight until someone who knows how can fix it right.

Emmaleah == bravely leading the way since ... um a long time ago... Smiling

Also had the same problem in

Also had the same problem in Dragonblight - waypoints are not updated on each quest step, so the arrow disappears. It seems that TomTom is working fine (can manually add waypoints) - the guide just isn't updating the waypoints.

Missing from guide list

Been using wow pro for awhile now, and many times in Borean Tundra. But I just about to change the guide list and Borean Tundra is not there ??????

How can i solve this please???

Emmaleah's picture

I am guessing you are

I am guessing you are alliance ;)  There was a change to the levels of that guide a month or 2 back (pre MOP) and the first update after, missed updating the GUIDE.XML file to the new name.  Version 2.3.4 has it correct.  If you arent seeing it, its probably because your version is from before that got fixed.

Thank you for that i will update,

and yes i am alliannce sry didn't think lol :)

Wow-pro Guide via Curse

I stopped allowing Curse to update my Wow-pro guides.  For some reason, it would just give me the "Trial" version of Wow-pro which did me no good at all.  I "ignore" Wow-pro in Curse Client and get my Wow-pro downloads straight from the "Horse's Mouth".  Just a thought.

Stuck progressing Quests in Pandaria.

So I leveled one toon already to 90 without guides, but went to take a lvl 70 to 90, just hit 85 and went to Pandaria (Alliance) and the guide is stuck on "Welcome to Pandaria, Don't forget to train your tradeskills" I am now on step 16/431 but it still show step one for the text. I have tried resetting the guide, nothing happend. I restarted wow, I've removed and reinstalled the addon.

I deleted the WoW - Cache and the WTF folders. Guild still show the same deal.

It's happened before to me, but seemed to resolve itself. But now it's just frustrating.

I am using the latest build of wow-pro and tom tom.

Emmaleah's picture

Have you tried to check it

Have you tried to check it off manually.   Note steps (which the first and last steps of guidles almost always are) require manual check off as there is no way for the game to know if you are done reading a note or note.

I suspect your question is not as easy as that, but I figured we may as well cover the basics first :)

I have recently been seeing a problem in the guides where steps are already checked off before I get to them, and I can not uncheck them.  They are checked off with the grey (skipped) type of checkmark.  The only help I have found for that is to delete the WTF file.  The affected steps are all Note/Run/Fly or get Flight Path type steps.
