... just so you know what evil tricks are in Ludovicus' head. I am working on a change that would automatically generate RANK tags for all quests in a guide. Imagine that we had filled in all the PRE tags and LVL tags in each guide. For each quest we assign a number which is equal to 1 more than the sum of all the PRE quests. If a quest has no PRE in the quide, then its value is 1. Now look at all the quests that are not listed in any other quests's PRE tag.
Those quests are the end of quests lines. Now the weights assigned to the termini are going to over-weight some of the quest lines which feed off another quest line. Once I figure out how to detect those, then I will be able to assign the prime lines to RANK1, the secondary branches to RANK2 and the rest to RANK3.
I think all the information I need can be provided by the Grail addon; I just need to do some graph analysis on the quest tree.
some of the guides have been written with RANKS. You can adjust this setting up or down to do more or less content on the guides that support that. That being said. Not all guides use ranks.
You can find this setting in the Guide Display options.
Emmaleah == bravely leading the way since ... um a long time ago...
Any time that I attempt to quest in Grizzly Hills, WoW-Pro doesn't update, nor does it communicate with the Quest Log when steps are manually checked off. I don't know about whether it does the same thing for me in Dragonblight or not since the updates. I can tell you that it USED to work in Dragonblight and Grizzly Hills pre-MoP.
"Death is a release, not a punishment." - Inan, from the motion picture 'Dragonheart'
"Please...I use real sarcasm; never canned." - Anita Blake, from the Laurell K. Hamilton novel 'The Laughing Corpse'
I'm experiecing this in GH as well. It was working....then stopped.
(Anita Blake is AWESOME btw)
I reproduced a problem where a guide would get "stuck" if the quest log header where the quests were landing was collapsed.
The addon now expands the collapsed headers, scans the quests and then puts it back the way it found things.
Fixes the problem for you too, I hope!
I had the same problem with leveling through there a few weeks ago.
So the usual questions:
I'm having the same issue, and as far as I can tell, the problem is that every time your character interacts with anything, the Grizzly Hills section of the Quest log is contracted (as if you've clicked the "-" next to the zone name). I guess the way the levelling module works (I've seen the same bug before with TourGuide and others), it "reads" the quest log to check on your progress, and if you've contracted the quest log for the given zone it'll bug out.
Oh! That is a great clue. We do read the quest log to see what quests you are on. I'll try miminizing the quest log on a toon of mine and see what happens.
1) I'm using WoW-Pro version 2.4.1 and TomTom version 50100-1.0.2
3) It does not update the arrow, it does not track the quests, and it will reset back to the beginning of the guide the moment I kill ANYTHING. When I accept a quest, the addon doesn't update, nor does it update when I complete or turn in quests. It works the way that it's supposed to everywhere else (as far as I've seen) EXCEPT for in Grizzly Hills.
What seems to happen is that the Grizzly Hills quest directory in the quest log, collapses every time you kill something, thereby not allowing the wow-pro addon to communicate with it. I have to manually uncollapse (expand) the quest directory every time I kill something to keep wow-pro up and monitoring.
I checked the FAQ, but didn't see my particular problem on there. The profession guide will only show the first step, about going and training the profession. I already have some of my profession built up, but it won't even let me manually skip the step.
Just downloaded the add-on today and I've got to say, I love the questing guides. It's a great add-on!
Unfortunantly, the guy who is doing the professions module had some challenges, including among other things a hard drive crash, there were some major changes for MOP and he hasn't been able to get it updated yet. We are glad you are enjoying the rest of the guides.
So, with your guy down because of a hard-drive issue, when will the profession guide be fixed? I see that some things are populated to advance, but like the other poster said, it only shows when to train to the next level. It doesnt go to the leveling steps.
Completely understand. Hope everything works out for him! And the leveling guide really is pro.
My guide list is totally empty. I followed all of the instructions in the troubleshooting guide. It's showing up for some characters, but not showing up for others. The guide acts like I'm still on a quest that I finished a long, long time ago and won't let me reset.
Which characters is it working for? not working for? Is it faction specific? race specific? Did it work right previously and with this update quit working or was this an original install? Are you seeing any error messages (either in your chat box or the middle of the screen)? Which modules do you have enabled? Do you have the same (other ) addon's on the chars it works for vs the ones it doesn't? Anything else you think might help pinpoint the problem?
I've been having problems with Tom Tom not clearing the waypoints since the latest update of WoWPro. I tested Tom Tom by itself and it cleared the waypoints, yet it didn't with WoWPro active. This is an annoying bug.
Alright, I installed the plug in as needed. Its showing i have 85 of the 307 quests done in Azshara but iv only done maybe 50? Also its giving me quests i can't even get yet. Any idea why this is happeneing?
As to the 85/307 that means 85 steps, not quests. Most quests have 3 steps (accept, do, turn in) so at a guess you have done about 30 quests in the zone. As to the more important part of your question... What level are you?, what race (maybe its a problem with pandas?) what version of wow-pro, what version of tom tom? And lastly what was the last step that worked properly?
I've been using wow-pro for a while, and leveled quite a few toons with it. However, recently on my warrior, it has been acting strange. When I was questing in Dragonblight, there were no way point arrows for any quests so I had to keep using the map. Now I'm in Grizzly Hills and the guide is not updating. It will accept the quest, but not update the guide to the next step. Also if I am on quests like "loot x items" it no longer tracks how many I've looted to update when complete.
I switched to other toons to load the Dragonblight guide to see if it was character specific, and same thing - no waypoint arrows.
I saw another person was having problems with the Dragonblight Alliance guide. I believe the problem is caused by the addition of the "dragonblight" map level in the Dragon Soul raid. Alas, I don't know how to fix it :(
editted to add... I verified in game, that is the problem, it is mapping to locations on the Dragonblight/Demon Soul map.
Just thought I'd add, I found a really crude fix. If you open the guide file (in a text editor like wordpad) while you are logged out of wow. Change where it says dragonblight to 488, it will map to the correct spot. Unfortunantly it will also say 488 as the name of the guide on the guide list and the guide pane.
That will at least let you play thru dragonblight until someone who knows how can fix it right.
Also had the same problem in Dragonblight - waypoints are not updated on each quest step, so the arrow disappears. It seems that TomTom is working fine (can manually add waypoints) - the guide just isn't updating the waypoints.
Been using wow pro for awhile now, and many times in Borean Tundra. But I just about to change the guide list and Borean Tundra is not there ??????
How can i solve this please???
I am guessing you are alliance ;) There was a change to the levels of that guide a month or 2 back (pre MOP) and the first update after, missed updating the GUIDE.XML file to the new name. Version 2.3.4 has it correct. If you arent seeing it, its probably because your version is from before that got fixed.
Thank you for that i will update,
and yes i am alliannce sry didn't think lol :)
I stopped allowing Curse to update my Wow-pro guides. For some reason, it would just give me the "Trial" version of Wow-pro which did me no good at all. I "ignore" Wow-pro in Curse Client and get my Wow-pro downloads straight from the "Horse's Mouth". Just a thought.
So I leveled one toon already to 90 without guides, but went to take a lvl 70 to 90, just hit 85 and went to Pandaria (Alliance) and the guide is stuck on "Welcome to Pandaria, Don't forget to train your tradeskills" I am now on step 16/431 but it still show step one for the text. I have tried resetting the guide, nothing happend. I restarted wow, I've removed and reinstalled the addon.
I deleted the WoW - Cache and the WTF folders. Guild still show the same deal.
It's happened before to me, but seemed to resolve itself. But now it's just frustrating.
I am using the latest build of wow-pro and tom tom.
Have you tried to check it off manually. Note steps (which the first and last steps of guidles almost always are) require manual check off as there is no way for the game to know if you are done reading a note or note.
I suspect your question is not as easy as that, but I figured we may as well cover the basics first :)
I have recently been seeing a problem in the guides where steps are already checked off before I get to them, and I can not uncheck them. They are checked off with the grey (skipped) type of checkmark. The only help I have found for that is to delete the WTF file. The affected steps are all Note/Run/Fly or get Flight Path type steps.
It keeps telling me that i need to download the full version, says i have the trial version ive downloaded it from here and curse but the only one that worked was the curses downloaded one, when i put the downloaded file from wow-pro.com it doesnt even show up in game in the addons if anyone could help me that would be great.
First step when updating any addon is to delete the older version (or move/rename it )
Next follow these instructions. http://wow-pro.com/addon
Its still not showing up, i even restarted my computer.
are you sure you are extracting the files to the correct location. In the page I linked, and the troubleshooting guide on that page, it shows a screenshot of file manager, make sure yours has the same structure.
If its not showing up in game, it is (obviously) not installed correct. The one from curse is not updated to the current version so it will not work correctly. However, curse automates the installation for you so you don't have to find the correct location and I suspect that is the problem you are having.
Well im on a mac ive extracted them using expressZip but that puts them into a folder inside of the addons folder, i cant figure out the problem i mean i did it the same way with tomtom and it worked fine.
do you have the directories all listed under addons?
the most common mistake people seem to make is instead of the above (correct ) way, they do it the following INCORRECT way.
Yeah i have it like the first way.
Well. i went to find this.. but I suppose you don't actually need it, ill leave it for anyone else who may benefit. (green bordered is correct, red bordered is incorrect... I could swear that was part of the image)
I'm stumped what the problem could be. You are doing it with wow closed. right? obviously you are, since you said you even rebooted your machine. (which shouldnt be necessary
I have to go and won't be able to check back for several hours. I hope you figure it out. It should be the same way you did tomtom.
If anyone has any ideas add me on skype to make it alittle easier
I downloaded the latest guides and everything after level 88 says I have to download the guides still. Trying to continue but cant. When you open up the folder the guides. the last guidea is Karasong Wilds. Im trying to find the ones for Townlong Steppes. Any sugestions? I tried 2.3.2 and 2.3.3
did you delete the old files/direcotories before extracting the new files. I suspect your guide.xml file is not being replaced when you install.
If you are comfortable with editting the xml file, you can add them in yourself. Open ...\<your wow directory>\interface\addons\wow-pro leveling\neutral\guides.xml and add the townlong and dreadwaste files into the list, following the pattern of the others... but... if those two lines are missing, it means you don't have the most recent version, despite you efforts to the contrary
ok I downloaded the addon, i go ingame it tells me i still need to download teh guides, where are they? and how do i dl the ones for 85 to 90? Please help
Did you download from this website? THe version currently available 2.3.3 has all the guildes in it.
I just got my wow-pro installed. I saw those "GPS-like" arrow in the video, but i don't see it in game. Is that a separate addon ?
The arrow comes from the addon called TomTom. It is available on both Curse and Wowinterface.
I cannnot get the arrow to point to the quest that is at the top of the list. Although I have noticed that it does seem to point ot the one nearest, is that what it is supposed to do??
Not sure what or how i fixed this prob, but i deleted all versions ,did the curse thing and reloaded new version, is now working beautifully :) so no idea .....But have to say ur addon is awesome, has saved me many a day needlessly wandering tryin to find missing quests :) so cheers for all the hard work. it IS appreciated.I sent ya a lil somethin by way of thanks :)
mate, ur captcha is TERRIBLE
That I have ran into this problem. Everything will work fine. Then the profession guides start to mess up. They will only say to go to the trainer and learn the skill to level it up. Occasionaly, I will get a part of the guide, but it's in the wrong area. Like if my skill is 200 it will give me the parts for 120. Then, I will stop using those guides, and continue using the regular leveling guides. However, when I load up a new guide, or sometimes just when I turn the guide on, it will not show the next step. It will only show the WoW-Pro Guide header, and nothing else below it, not even a blank window where a piece of the guide should be. So I uninstall it, and reinstall it, and the past 2 times it has fixed it, but I am wondering if there is a way to avoid having to do this, or what's causing the problem?
I can't help you with most of your questions as I have never used the profession guides. But, one part of your question I may be able to help with.
you said: "when I load up a new guide, or sometimes just when I turn the guide on, it will not show the next step. It will only show the WoW-Pro Guide header, and nothing else below it, not even a blank window where a piece of the guide should be. "
There is an option to minimize the guide. As I recall when you double click on the header it will toggle between minimize (make it just a header) or maximize (show the guide details) Its possible for some reason it opened in the minimized state and clicking in the header will "open it up"
@Ludovicus Rumour is probably 3/28 or 4/4 for 7.2
@Emmaleah I have done both horde/alliance Stormheim guides at the start and they are OK, sans the nasty note.
@Emmaleah I will update again on Tuesday/Wednesday when 7.2.0 hits.
I guess I better get my stormheim changes in... Gotta do the instance then I will finalize.
@Blanckaert Well, all the guides are in (except for some DH Order hall adds I have queued up). Aiming to release this afternoon!
