Jame's Alliance Leveling Guide

If you need guides for any other level range please check out this page.
Suggestion on how to use these guides (from PraterR):
I found that playing WOW in Windowed Mode feels very comfortable while following along with this guide.
The guide will be open in an internet window.
You then Alt-Tab to your WOW game. (Log in and enter game world)
Press escape and access your Video options. Near the top there is a checkbox with "Windowed Mode" inscribed next to it.
Check the Box [x] and press okay.
You will notice that you can move and stretch your WOW window in such a way as to see the internet guide above or below it.
When you need to click the internet window and scroll down or up (depending on how you want to view it) to the next paragraph of the guide.

compared to boosting
If you compare following your xp guide, to say getting boost in SM to 40. (pala way), how you think it is then? My leech is atm lvl 29 and wondering if I should follow the guide or boost myself to atleast around 36 or so.

Hey
Hey Jame!
My computer recently broke (3 months ago!) and just today I ordered a new one. A few days ago i found this website and it really looked like quality work! Im a lvl 27 rogue, so i'll immedietly start using this guide when im lvl 30. My friends are already lvl 50 and above! imagine their surprise when they see me gaining 5 lvls a day!
Many thanks!

Alliance leveling guide part 3 revamp
First of all I wanted to thank you and snowflake for these wonderful guides. Now to my question; the revamp for the alliance 50-60 have it been much delayed or just a couple of days since my hunter is standing and just waiting for the next part so I can see what new fun quests that have been added
Realy loved this guide and tell all my other guild members about it as soon they ask were to go level I just tell them to go here or use one of the places you tell us to go to at that level. Keep up the good work man!
also im not sure if its just
also im not sure if its just me but you told us to take the continuation of martek the exiled. i reread that part 2 times and it never said to abandon it. then when you give us a list at boty bay of everything we should have martek the exiled is the only one tat isnt presant there. im wondering if i should abandon it. its the one where it tells me to deliver a quest item to martek at badlands.
outrunning guide
well ive been using this guide for nearly 5 lvls and i have been leveling to fast for it. i dont do anything you dont do but because most of your quests are slaying or collecting my drop rates make me kill more and ym rest exp makes me lvl faster then the guide. i am currently lvl 35 and 3/5 of the way to 36 and im still at the end of 34 before even handing in like 8 completed quests. what should i do? im worried to skipp to the lvl 35 or 36 section cause then ill miss on some pre quests.
Warrior Leveling
Warriors are usually tagged as harder to level from forums and the like, am i ok using this guide as a warrior? and if so what would be the best spec. Thanks in advance
Administrator
To be honest with you, the
To be honest with you, the first class I ever played was warrior. It's one of the harder classes to level, it's true, mostly because it is very gear dependant. If you get decent armor and most importantly a good weapon, you should be fine. But even without that, warriors can follow this guide just fine.
I personally like to find a big 2-Hander (preferably an axe, because I like to crit a lot!
) and go for Mortal Strike as soon as possible, then go for the fury tree up until flurry 5/5. You should end up with a talent build kinda like this one:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=LAM0dAioz0zZVV0i0xRV
It's purely for solo pve dps.
A way to use the guide :D
Hey Jame!
I love your guides, but i always hated that in order to keep up with it you have to kill everything along the way. I like it much better to go to an instance or two so you level up once and then your set for 2-5 levels without haveing to kill everything
Thanks for the guides Jame!
Administrator
Actually the "kill
Actually the "kill everything on the way" rule has been removed as of patch 2.3.
should I skip ahead?
Hi Jame
Let me start off by saying that this guide is insanely fast. Thank you so much for devoting such a large amount of time to it.
But the main issue at hand is, I'm a little ahead of the guide. I just hit 40 and I'm still doing quests for the 38-39 range, do you think I should skip ahead? I'm noticing many of these quests are green, and if this will affect my xp gain later on if I continue from where I am now?
Administrator
My advice is to not skip, as
My advice is to not skip, as long as the quests are not grey. Skip instances and optional circuits when there are some.
Paladin Leveling
While following your guide, what spec should a paladin go for leveling? I've heard that both Ret and Prot are good leveling specs, but I'm not sure which on to choose right now. Any suggestions?
Administrator
I personally favor
I personally favor retribution now. The tree got so much love in the past months it's definitely great for leveling now.
Prot is also very solid though. It's up to personal preference I guess, I'm no paladin expert anyway, but I just know I leveled my paladin as ret and enjoyed it a lot.
Prot
Well, I ended up going prot for leveling after some friends convinced me, and it seems to be holding up better than I though it would have. In the Shimmering Flats circuit, I managed to take on about 3-5 mobs at a time, which greatly helped finishing all of the quests.
I might try out ret to see how it fairs as well, but I'm guessing that it all comes down to the circumstances. When fighting a group of mobs all close together, prot is better, but if just fighting single mobs, ret would pull ahead in dps.
great job
Your guides are brilliant
I've used since level 40 and it's got me to 70 without many problems.
But now I understand you can quest for cash in outlands
is there any chance you will be creating a guide for this?
Admin's note: Fixed spelling. Please do an effort with your spelling next time. Use proper capitalization, "I" instead of "i" etc. Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's already planned.

Mage?
Which spec should a mage go for in this guide? I'm currently frost, but I can respec if you would recommend it, otherwise I'll keep on frosting it up.

Keep frosting it up is my advice!
Jame's Guides
Your guides are amazing, they help more than anything I could imagine. I used the old ones to level my Warlock, now lvl 70 (4/5 Venge) and now Im using your guides to lvl my rouge who is 55 currently. I just wanted to say thanks a bunch for making these guides, and for keeping them free : P
Hey Jame
I noticed int the 50-60 guide you say that the stolen plans are behind 3 elites. When I did that part of the guide yesterday, there were only two mobs, and they were a 48 and a 50, which were easy to solo for a hunter.
Administrator
Yes, it will be changed in

Dilema
Dear James, im really in a dilema. Im a level 32 hunter that's really fortunate to come by your spectacular guide. However i seem to be unable to follow your guide properly sicne some quests recommended seems to have prerequisites that are mentioned in the earlier guide which i did not follow. What should i do? =(
Administrator
Do not worry about it, just
Do not worry about it, just skip the first Ashenvale circuit. Start at the point where the guide makes you travel to the Thousand Needles. If there's any quests you can't access because you lack prerequisited, just ignore them, you are already ahead of the guide in levels, so it's not a problem if you skip a quest here and there.
Hello just found this
Hello just found this today,
i am lvl 54 prot pala, how am i gonna latch onto the leveling guide?
Should i abandon all of my quests and start in chapter 3 where it says lvl 54?
Ty in advance
Administrator
It depends. Have you done
It depends. Have you done the first Un'goro Crater quests? Including the first two steps of the Linken quest line? (the one that starts at the wrecked raft in Ungoro).
If you haven't, start at the first Ungoro circuit in the level 51 section. If you have, then yes, just start at the beginning of a circuit close to level 54.
ty
kk good I aint started ungoro, tyvm will start asap on lvling and hopefully if I have time make some guides myself

Hey James,
I was just wandering, do you think it would be better for me to level to 70 without this guide first so I get more of the storyline? Or should I play through the game using this guide, so I get to 70 faster?
Thanks.

Well actually, my guide
Well actually, my guide makes you do a truckload of quests, probably many more than if you were doing it on your own. So you'll most likely get more of the storyline if you follow my guide

Hi
Hi james !
Fisrt , thanks for your AMAZING GUIDE !!! lol, if it wasn't you , I would still be a lowbie
Anyways, when I was searching the internet today, I found http://wow-powerlevelings.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
it copied your lvl 30-40 guide down about 3quarters of the page, I'm more then 100% certain, since I completed your 30-40 guide.
Once again , thanks for your hard work !!

First thing your guides are amazing James. Should I use your old 41 to 50 guide which I started or switch to your new guide? and abandon old quest?
Administrator
Switch to the new guide,
Switch to the new guide, don't abandon quests. If you lack quest space, abandon some of the Stranglethorn Vale quests and retake them when we get to that section.

What spec do you think a level 60 warlock should be for leveling?
Administrator
I think it boils down to
I think it boils down to personal preference. All 3 specs are viable for leveling. I personally like to go with affliction up to level 60, then respec demonology.
Something like that:
Demonology Leveling Spec
Not destro.
Afflic is the best from 1-56, by far. Next to no downtime at all. At 56, when Felguard finally learns all it's abilities, it becomes just as competitive. Destro is never very efficient. You can kill fast by spamming shadowbolts, but this eats mana, leading to alot of downtime. All 3 work, but only two are efficient.

Hey Jame's I love your guide and I'm currently using it to level 2 alts and just have one little suggestion to help make things easier for people.
I sometimes exept quest by accident that you dident tell us to get and I would love it if you could at the end of every level put the quest you should have in your log before continueing onto the next level. Just a little change but I think it woud help out alot.

Upgraded Guide?
On the "Jame's Alliance leveling Guide - Chapter I (30-40)" link, I notice it is version 2. Is the link for "Jame's Alliance leveling guide - Chapter II (41-50)" also version 2? I didn't see any mention of where Chapter I left off so I'm assuming its not but correct me if I'm wrong.
Small addition
Hey mate
great job on the guide, I've been using it recently to level my warlock and for once, I'm not bored of out my skull with leveling cause I know where to go and what to do
.
I'm at Theramore in the 30-40 part now, and I've thought of a small addition you could do there. First Aid is generally a great profession to have for all classes, even healers can use it (for leveling, or silence parts in the end game). I've got my FA to 225 and arriving in Theramore, did the Triage quest. It's an easy 5550 xp at level 38, so you may want to bring people's attention to try and do that quest when they're there
Thanks again for a great guide

WoTLK
Hi Jame,
Thanks for the wonderful guide. I was just wondering how long do you think it will take for you to write a 70-80 alliance guide when WoTLK has come out?
Administrator
It should be much faster
It should be much faster than my Outland guides. I've set myself a personal goal to write the guide as I level my main character (the one I raid and arena with) in WotLK. This will of course slow me down a lot with my leveling, and my guildmates will probably whine at me for that, but it won't stop me
