  • The guide's layout has been modified to look even more like Jame's Guides.
  • Section names have been changed.
  • Maps have been edited and some maps have been removed.
  • Boat path changes have been made.
  • Minor spelling errors and other errors have been removed.
  • Recommended addons have been changed to newer versions.
  • Table of Contents have been removed.
Introduction

This is a detailed, in depth guide on leveling an Alliance character from level 20 to level 30. It is focused on questing rather than grinding, though some parts you may be asked to grind. Other guides such as Maw's Alliance Leveling Guide 12-20 or Boston's 12-20 Alliance Leveling Guide will lead into this guide, and are recommended to use before this one. It will otherwise be difficult to begin using this guide, and you will at times find yourself without the right quests at a certain time.
This guide will lead into Jame’s Alliance Leveling Guides and those will bring you all the way to level 77.

Basic Rules
  • Spend your talent points so that you kill things as fast as possible. (e.g: Priest should specialize in Shadow Talents, Warriors in Arms/Fury, etc.)

  • Don't waste your time trying to find groups for questing, you can solo everything that is described in this guide unless I say otherwise. Only group with someone when it's not gonna be a waste of time (e.g: meeting the person at the other end of the zone to show him the way to where your quest is, that is a waste of time)

  • Try to always log out in an inn or in one of the major cities when you take a break.

  • When I say you should make an inn your new home location, it's for a good reason, and it will save you much time.

Useful Addons

To get the most out of my guide, you should get an addon which displays coordinates, because I use them to describe locations in my guide (x,y). You can use any addon you like, but here's a very simple one I use.

Recommended

  • DMiniCoords - A simple box which displays coordinates, left-click it to move it where you like.

Optional

Below is a list of other addons I use, this is 100% optional though, it's mostly for people who are curious to know which addons I use:

Side Note: In case you don't know how to install add-ons, simply download an addon from one of the links above and unzip it. Then drag the unziped folder in your Addon folder (full path is c:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Interface\\Addons). Then, restart World of Warcraft and it should be working.

If it isn't working, you might need to log out to your character selection screen and click on "Addons" in the lower-left corner. Tick the box that says "Load out of date Addons". Re-launch WoW.

This is taken directly from Jame's Horde Leveling Guide - Chapter II (31-41), thanks Jame.

Shopping List
  • Bronze Tube: For the quest [25] Look to the Stars in section Level 27b

Try to get this as soon as possible and store it in your bank until you need it when the guide tells you to get it.

The Guide

Level 20a

First you’ll need to get to the city of Stormwind. If you don’t have the flight path here get it. Do what you need to here (train, sell, etc.) and leave the town through the south gate when you’re ready. Follow the road until you get to Goldshire. Once here, head down the eastern road. Keep going until you come to a tower on the left side of the road (64,68). Go inside and get the quest [21] A Watchful Eye from Theocritus at the top. Head back to the road and continue east until you come to Redridge Mountains.

Keep going and you’ll come to the town Lakeshire. Get the flight path in front of the bridge. Cross the bridge and get the quest [18] The Price of Shoes from Verner Osgood.

Fly to Stormwind and head to Goldshire again. Turn in your quest to Smith Argus. Get the follow-up and return to Stormwind. Then fly to Lakeshire.

If you have done [16] The Lost Tools, skip this next paragraph. If you haven’t, pick it up from Foreman Oslow. Head east to Lake Everstill. About in the middle you’ll find the Sunken Chest at the bottom (41,54). Look out for Lake Thresher, a level 25 elite Loch Ness Monster looking thing. Loot Oslow's Toolbox then turn it back in to Foreman Oslow.

Cross the bridge and get the following quests:

  • [21] Blackrock Menace from Marshall Marris
  • [20] The Everstill Bridge from Foreman Oslow
  • [18] Underbelly Scales from Verner Osgood (becomes the follow-up after turning in your current quest to him)
  • [20] A Baying of Gnolls from Verner Osgood
  • [21] Selling Fish from Dockmaster Baren
  • [20] Murloc Poachers from Dockmaster Baren
Go to the inn and make it your home location.

Level 20b

==NOTE== From now on kill any Black Dragon Whelp you come across.

1. Head east out of town to the lake. You’ll immediately come across a murloc camp (40,45). Murlocs are all around this area in the water. Kill them until you complete [21] Selling Fish and [20] Murloc Poachers.

2. Head north along the road until you see a dirt path on your left leading to a gnoll camp (38,32). Kill these guys until you finish [20] A Baying of Gnolls and [20] The Everstill Bridge. You can also head northwest into the mountains for more to kill (in fact you may need to for more mystics).

3. Head back to the road and follow it northeast to Render’s Camp at (44,18). Since we can’t go further into the camp because of the higher levels, we’re going to do a triangle between three spots until we finish [18] Underbelly Scales and [21] Blackrock Menace. Once you killed all the orcs here, head south to (42,32) and kill Black Dragon Whelps around this area. Once you killed them all, head southwest to (39,40) and kill the Blackrock Orcs here. Head between the three coordinates, (44,18), (42,32), and (39,40), until you finish your 2 quests.

4. Head back to Lakeshire and turn in your 6 quests (turn in [18] Underbelly Scales to Verner Osgood first because at level 21 it become green and we want to most experience for it). Get the follow-up for [20] A Baying of Gnolls called [21] Howling in the Hills.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Level 21a

1. Head north to the mountains where the gnolls are (27,21). Yowler is here in a camp with two others. Kill him and take his paw.

2. Return to Lakeshire and turn in your quest. Head across the bridge and follow the road until you get to a crossroad (15,71). Take the southern road until you get to Duskwood.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Level 21b

1. Keep following the road until you get to the town of Darkshire. Once here, get the flight path.

Go to the inn and make it your home location.

Head across the road (sort of) to a big, house-like building. Get the quests [20] Raven Hill and [23] Deliveries to Sven from Elaine Carevin.

8. In Darkshire, turn in your quest to Chef Grual and get the follow-up. Head outside and turn in your quest to Madame Eva. Get the follow-up. Head outside and get the quest [24] The Night Watch from Commander Althea Ebonlocke. You should definitely be Level 22 by now. Fly to Stormwind.

Level 22b

Fly to Stormwind.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Head to the western district called the Mage Quarter. Make a left once you enter this district until you see Collin Mauren standing on your left on the raised sidewalk (43,80). Get his quest [26] Retriveal for Mauren. When you’re ready, take the tram to Ironforge. Fly to Thelsmar, Loch Modan (or walk there if you don’t have the flight path and get it once there). Once there, follow the main road north until you get to a tunnel in the mountains. Get the quest [21] The Algaz Gauntlet from Mountaineer Rockgar in front of it. Head through the tunnel.

Level 22c

1. This will bring you to The Wetlands. Go through the next tunnel where you’ll find some orcs to your left side (48,74). Kill the Mottled Raptors and Mottled Screechers here until you complete [24] Ormer’s Revenge. A hint for the screechers: they call for help so if any other raptor is near them they’ll attack you too. Be sure to pull these guys away from any other raptor before you kill them.

5. Head back up to the excavation site in the mountains at (38,51) and turn in your quest to Ormer Ironbraid. Get the follow-up.

6. Return to Menethil Harbor and turn in your 4 quests but don’t get the follow-ups. This should bring you at least half way to Level 24.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Fly to Stormwind, and go to the docks at (22,56). Take the boat to Auberdine, Darkshore.

Level 23b

Once there, walk down the pier toward town. Turn in your quest to Fiora Longears along the way and get the follow-up. Get the flight path in town and follow the main road south. Keep going until you get to the zone, Ashenvale.

Head inside the inn and get the two quests from Raene Wolfrunner.

Go to the inn and make it your home location.

6. Turn in all your quests and get the follow-ups. Be sure and get the quest [21] Pridewings of Stonetalon from Shindrell Swiftfire. This should make you Level 24. If not, just go on with the next circle. You may fly to Darnassus or Exodar to train you new skills (closest trainer for Warlocks is all the way in Ratchet so you need to go there or all the way back to Ironforge).

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

When you’re ready, return to Astranaar and head southeast out of town until you get to Talondeep Path (43,71). Follow this tunnel all the way through to Stonetalon Mountains.

5. Return to the Alliance camp a little further up the hill. Turn in your quest but don’t take the follow-ups.

6. Get on the main road and follow it north. You’ll soon come to Mirkfallon Lake (45,46) and (50,43). In these two spots you’ll find Pridewings all around the lake. Kill them until you complete [21] Pridewings of Stonetalon.

7. Get back on the main road and head southwest to The Charred Vale (32,66). Start killing Blackened Basilisks until you complete [26] Retrieval for Mauren.

Level 24b

Hearth to Astranaar.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

1. Head southeast until you get to some Foulweald camps (50,61). Clear the guys here. If you haven’t quite finished [24] An Aggressive Defense after you kill everything, don’t worry because we’re coming back later.

2. Head south to Silverwind Refuge (50,67). Get the quest [24] Elemental Bracers from Sentinel Velene Starstrike inside.

3. Jump into the lake directly south of you. Kill the Befouled Water Elementals here until you get 5 Intact Elemental Bracers from one of them. Once you have them, use your Divining Scroll.

4. Return to Silverwind Refuge and turn in your quest. Do not get the follow-up.

5. Head north to the Foulweald camp and finish [24] An Aggressive Defense.

6. Get back on the main road and head east. Eventually you’ll come to a small town on the northern side of the road called Forest Song (87,45). Turn in your quest to Architect Nemos. Don’t get any of the quests here, just the flight path. Fly to Astranaar.

By now you should be level 25 or close to it. Turn in your 2 quests here.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Level 25a

1. East of Astranaar along the main road you’ll find a small path leading north. Follow this to Iris Lake (46,46) and grab one of the Elune’s Tears on the island in the middle of the lake.

2. Head east out of this area through the hills ahead of you (it’s very easy to get down them) and then head northeast. You’ll come to a moonwell where you’ll find Shael’dryn (53,46). Turn in your quest and get the follow-up.

3. Get out of this area and return to Astranaar. Turn in your quest here and get the follow-up. Fly to Auberdine and take the boat to Stormwind. Fly to Menethil Harbor.

Once in Menethil Harbor grab the following quests:

  • [25] Reclaiming Goods from Karl Boran
  • [26] Apprentice’s Duties from James Halloran
  • [25] Fall of Dun Modr from Harlo Barnaby
  • [26] Report to Captain Stoutfist from Valstag Ironjaw (which you turn in at the top floor of the keep)
  • [26] War Banners from Captain Stoutfist (follow-up of previous
  • [27] The Third Fleet from First Mate Fitzsimmons
Once you done with that, head inside the inn and buy a Flagon of Mead.

Go to the inn and make it your home location.

Turn in your quest to First Mate Fitzsimmons just outside but don’t get the follow-up. Do what you need to here before we leave.

Level 25b

1. Head to Whelgar’s Excavation Site and up the hill to the camp. Get the quest [28] Uncovering the Past from Prospector Whelgar and head down into the actual site. From now on kill Mottled Scytheclaws and Mottled Razormaws along the way as you finish this quest. You’ll see these things on the ground that are either jars, loose soil, or small tomb-like structures. These are hard to map as they spawn all over the place so just look for them while finishing your other quest.

Once you finish [27] Ormer’s Revenge (it’s okay if you didn’t finish [28] Uncovering the Past, we’re coming right back to the site), head back to the camp and turn in your quest. Get the follow-up and head to the western side of this small valley. At about (31,38) you’ll see a path leading up into the mountains. Follow this up and around until you get to the top ledge. Here you’ll see Sarltooth. He’s level 29 but a pretty easy kill. If you don’t think you can kill him, leave him for now and come back later. The reason we came up here anyway is to see if there is another fragment we can get. If you killed him, get his claw. Finish [28] Uncovering the Past and return to the camp. Turn in your 1 (or 2) quest(s).

==NOTE== From now on kill any Giant Wetlands Crocolisk and Fen Creeper you encounter

2. Leave this area and head east until you see some Dragonmaw Orcs on your right. Make your way into Angerfang Encampment at (43,43) and kill the orcs here until you complete [26] War Banners.

3. Once done with that, head northwest into the swamps until you come to a small house with a windmill (26,25). Around this house (typically to around the northern side) you’ll find Giant Wetlands Crocolisks and Fen Creepers. Make wide semi-circles around the northern side of the house until you finish [26] Apprentice’s Duties and [26] Blisters on The Land (the Fen Creepers are invisible and roam only in the water so you’ll have to look for them).

4. Head southeast to Rethiel the Greenwarden at (56,40). Turn in your quest to him.

5. Hearth to Menethil Harbor and head north to Bluegill Marsh. Go to the camp at (13,41) and turn in your quest to the Damaged Crate there. Get the follow up and head to the camp just north of you (13,38). Turn in your quest to the sealed barrel and get the follow-up. Head to the camp north of you and turn in your quest there (13,34). Get the follow-up and go to Menethil Harbor.

6. Turn in you 3 quests but don’t get the follow-up. This should make you over Level 26. Fly to Ironforge.

Level 25c

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink, and train.

Take the tram to Stormwind. By now you should have your Bronze Tube so grab that out of your bank or wherever. Head to the trade district from the old town but don’t enter the actual district. After crossing the bridge to the trade district, make a left here and head to the end of the wall of the trade district. Here you’ll find the shop Fragrant Flowers (64,60). Head inside and buy Stormwind Seasoning Herbs from Felicia Gum. Now go to the Mage’s Quarter and turn in your quest to Collin Mauren. Once that’s done, fly to Lakeshire.

Get the following quests from here:

  • [25] Blackrock Bounty from Guard Howe (right next to you)
  • [23] Shadow Magic from Marshal Marris
  • [25] Tharil’zun from Marshal Marris
  • [26] Wanted: Gath’llzogg from wanted poster in front of town hall
  • [23] Solomon’s Law from Bailiff Conacher (inside town hall)
  • [26] Wanted: Lieutenant Fangore from wanted poster in front of inn
  • [24] An Unwelcome Guest from Martie Jainrose (west side of town)
From where you’re at, head west out of town until you see Bellygrub (16,49). Kill him, loot his tusk, then turn in the quest just east of you.

Go to the inn and make it your home location.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Look in you quest log to make sure you still have a quest we got in the beginning called [21] A Watchful Eye. If not, refer to the beginning on how to get it.

Level 26a

1. Head northeast along the main road into the mountains. Take the left path once the road falls apart to get to Render’s Camp (35,9). Kill any Blackrock Champion you see as you make your way to the back where you’ll find a cave. Enter and go down the left side and make your way to the bottom. Here you’ll find Corporal Keeshan (28,12). He is an escort quest where you’ll have to follow him and protect him while he gets out of the cave. So kill the rest of the Blackrock Champions you need for the quest then take his quest and start following him. The mobs here are close together so always try to make the pull your self. Once outside the cave, he’ll stop to rest. At this point you need to pull the camps. So start with the one on your right and make the best pull, then repeat with the left. Otherwise, he’ll just charge in and aggro everything. From there he’ll go straight to Lakeshire.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Start trying to find a group to do [25] Tharil’zun and [26] Wanted: Gath’llzogg. If you do, skip to step 5. After you’re done, come back to finish the other steps. If you don’t find a group, do the steps in order until number 5. At number 5, finish the quest [23] Shadow Magic and skip the killing of the two other guys. The missing exp. won’t kill you and you’ll be able to make it up.)

2. Get back on the main road and head northeast. This time, when you get to the fork, head east. Keep going until you come to some gnoll camps. Kill any of them you see as you make your way to Lieutenant Fangore (80,38). Kill him and loot his paw.

3. Head south until you see a lion statue next to the mountain (84,46). Turn in your quest to it and get the follow-up.

4. Continue to kill gnolls and head west. You’ll soon come to some orcs along the road. You need to go to the tower on the right side (63,50). Make your way to the top of the tower, being careful not to get extras. At the top, turn in your quest to the jar on top of a barrel.

5. Head out of the tower and go down the left road this time. This will bring you to a keep (67,55). Kill the orcs out front and gather the Midnight Orbs from the Blackrock Shadowcasters. Once the front is clear, make a sharp left at the wall toward the back and clear the orcs here. In this area you’ll find Tharil’zun along with 3 or 4 other mobs. Kill him and loot his head. Back out of this area toward the keep and head inside. At the top you’ll find Gath’llzogg along with 2 other mobs and another elite. Kill him and loot his head. If you haven’t finished [23] Shadow Magic, do so before you leave.

If you haven’t finished [23] Solomon’s Law do so now by killing the gnolls. Step 6 and 7 are a little hard and are optional.

6. Return to the lion statue and get the quest [26] Morganth from it.

7. Head to the tower west of you just across the road (79,49). Make your way to the top where you’ll find Morganth. Kill him and loot his Pendant of Shadow. Now hearth to Lakeshire.

Turn in all of your quests here (those who did [26] Morganth, head west into Elwynn Forest to the Tower of Azora (65,69) and turn in your quest to Theocritus).

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

When you’re done, fly to Darkshire.

In Darkshire, grab the following quests:

  • [25] Look To The Stars from Viktori Prism’Antras (turn it in with the Bronze Tube and get the follow-up)
  • [28] The Legend of Stalvan from Madame Eva
  • [25] The Totem of Infliction from Madame Eva
  • [24] Deliver the Thread from Madame Eva
  • [28] Worgen in the Woods from Calor
  • [26] The Night Watch from Commander Althea Ebonlocke
  • [28] The Legend of Stalvan from Clerk Daltry (after turning in your quest to him, this becomes the follow-up)
  • [20] Return to Jitters from Chef Grual
Go to the inn and make it your home location.

You should now be Level 27.

1. Head southeast to (81,59). Turn in your quest to Blind Mary inside the small house and get the follow-up.

3. Get on the main road and head west until you come to a crossroads. Head southeast to The Yorgen Farmstead. Make your way around the field on the western side until you come to the barn (first building you will come to). Head around the back to the eastern side and kill the one defias guy there and turn in your quest to the Mound of Loose Dirt (49,77). Get the follow-up and head north to the main road.

==NOTE== Kill any Black Widow Hatchling you come across until you get 5 Vials of Spider Venom.

4. On the main road, head west. At about (32,59), start heading northwest. You’ll soon come to a small shack where you’ll find Abercrombie (28,31). Turn in your quest to him and take the follow-up.

5. Head southwest into the cemetery and start killing all of the ghoul creatures (zombie-like guys, for example, the Flesh Eaters and everything that looks like them) at around (24,36). Keep killing them until you get 10 Ghoul Fangs for the quest [25] The Totem of Infliction.

6. Head southwest out of the cemetery to (20,45) where you’ll find Skeletal Fiends and Skeletal Horrors. Kill them until you finish [26] Night Watch and gather 10 Skeleton Fingers.

7. Go south out of this area where you’ll find Jitters (18,56). Turn in your quest to him. Note: If you haven’t gotten 5 Vials of Spider Venom, then kill the Black Widow Hatchlings around the eastern edge of this area until you do.

8. Head northwest of Jitters until you get to Sven’s Camp. Turn in your quest to Sven and grab the follow-up.

Level 27c

Get on the main road to the south and head west across the bridge into Westfall. Keep following the main road west until you get to Moonbrook. Head to the schoolhouse (tallest building with a tower on top on the west side of the village) (41,66) and turn in your quest to the Old Footlocker inside. A Forlorn Spirit will spawn and attack you once you take the follow-up. So get the follow-up and kill the spawn. Hearth to Darkshire.

Turn in your 7 quests here and get the follow-ups and quests:

  • [29] Worgen in the Woods from Calor
  • [30] The Night Watch from Commander Althea Ebonlocke
  • [28] The Legend of Stalvan from Clerk Daltry
  • [24] Gather Rot Blossoms from Tavernkeep Smitts
  • [25] The Shadowy Search Continues from Madame Eva
This should make you Level 28. Turn in [25] The Shadowy Search Continues to Clerk Daltry once you get it and get the follow-up. Head to the inn and turn in your quest to Tavernkeep Smitts and get the follow-up. If you read the clues you can figure out who the shadowy figure is as it’s someone we’ve met before Smiling. Fly to Stormwind.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink, and train.

When your ready, fly back to Darkshire.

Level 28a

2. Get back on the main road and head west until you get to the crossroads next to the camp. Head down the small road to the southwest here toward some ogres. Be sure to kill the ogres as they will sometimes drop An Old History Book which will start a quest. Make your way into this area until you see a cave toward the south (33,76). Head inside and make a left at the fork. Keep heading straight and you’ll see Zzarc’ Vul. He usually has one other with him. If he does, pull him and hide around the wall to your right, like the picture below:

Kill him and loot Ogre’s Monocle from him. If you got An Old History Book from one of the ogres, start its quest. If you didn't get the book, don't worry about it. It's not necessary.

3. Get back to the crossroads and head west along the road. Head to Jitters at (18,56) and turn in your quest to him. Get the follow-up.

4. Head north to (20,44) and start killing Skeletal Fiends and Skeletal Horrors. Keep killing them until you get 8 Rot Blossoms to complete [24] Gather Rot Blossoms.

5. Head north to (23,35) and start killing the Plague Spreaders here. There are some inside the underground tomb here and you’ll need to go inside to get 20 kills for [30] The Night Watch.

6. Head west until you see a Weathered Grave at (17,28). Get its quest [35] The Weathered Grave.

7. Continue west to Sven’s Camp (7,34) and turn in your quest to Sven Yorgen. Get the follow-up.

8. Head east to the undead (16,37) and kill Skeletal Healers, Skeletal Raiders, and Skeletal Warders until you complete [28] Proving Your Worth. The warders are in the underground tomb here so you’ll need to go in there to kill them.

9. Return to Sven’s Camp and turn in your quest as well as get the follow-up.

Head northeast, across the river, and go to Goldshire. Head inside the inn and turn in your quest to Innkeeper Farley. Get the follow-up and head upstairs. In the back room you’ll see a Storage Chest by the bed. Get An Undelivered Letter from it and hearth to Darkshire.

Leveling

Hi boston i'm with my lvl 21 paladin, in you guide 21b when you say i definetely should be in lvl 22 i still need 6k xp, i didn't skip anything...
please help!

Hello Boston Thank you for

Hello Boston

Thank you for this awesome guide, I very much enjoyed leveling with it and I know what an amount of work goes into writing such an article.

Unfortunately I was one level ahead of the guide but at some point I was quite glad about that because it helped me to deal with some tricky situations. I did choose a Shaman to level with, which isn't the easiest class at the beginning (before they get Windfury Weapon and all the nice enhancement talents). Anyway, the extra level made it impossible for me to test the last circuits, but I'm sure they are just as good as the previous ones.

I took notes whenever I came across a problem or when I had a suggestion, I apologize if any of this has been posted already:

I. Level 20a: If I recall correctly you make us bind at Lakeshire after traveling back there from Stormwind. After that we don't really use the hearthstone until we rebind in Darkshire (unless I missed something). Could maybe make use of the hearthstone by binding at Lakeshire right at the start when we get there, then after flying to Stormwind and going to Golshire can just warp back to Lakeshire instead of running back to Stormwind and flying.

IV. Level 21b: Additional tip for others: Pygmy Venom Web Spiders can indeed be found in the red zone which is marked on the map but most of them are close to the river. When I ran through the first time, I was closer to the graveryard than the river and missed the spiders. I also found these same spiders all around Ambercrombies shack (in a large circle).

V. Level 22a: To be able to accept [25] Seasoned Wolf Kabobs you unfortunately need a cooking skill of 50+.

XII. Level 23d: The glowing gem doesn't only drop from Saltspittle Warriors.

XIII. Level 24a: At (53,44) you can kill Pridewings and the forced respawn will guarantee you non-stop respawns.

XIV. Level 24b:
- Should mention to turn in the Pridewings quest upon arrival.

- [24] An Aggressive Defense is currently often broken. Den Watchers and Ursas glitch spawn into one group of 8 mobs which is simply impossible to pull apart. Other people have had the same issue: http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=1025. Personally I had to abandon the quest but luckily I was a level ahead of the guide.

XXII. Level 28a: An old history book can also drop from Skeletal Fiends/Horrors (maybe even other mobs)

Ahhh this one solved my

Ahhh this one solved my problem - have been following the Boston guides since level 12, but got to 22a and found when it says to go back to Darkshire, I only had 2 to hand in there (not sure what i've done wrong...) and when I went to collect the quest from Chef Gruel I couldn't.

This will be because I haven't ever done anything with my cooking so if you're able to add that you need a cooking skill of 50 that would be good. Also, I had loads of lean wolf flank (think that was what it was called!) but sold it as it didn't say to keep it! Sad

Thanks for the guide!

So I just got to the Level 29 part of your guide. Two thumbs up so far, I must say. It did seem to flow in and out of zones nicely.

However I did have a few problems with it. First of all was that I have been a whole level ahead of your guide since section 21a even though I started your guide with only a quarter of my XP bar filled. This is even after skipping the escort quest and the two elite orcs.

Second, you told us to purchase Stormwind Seasoning Herbs. As far as I could tell, we never used it and it wasn't required for any of the quests we were sent on.

Also, the quest James Hyal, that is part of the 29a section is not obtainable until level 30, at which point in the guide your readers should be just barely 29.

Lastly, the quest "An Old History Book" is included in the guide. I cleared the area of ogres at this point in the guide twice and never got the drop. I understand that is how drops work, but maybe it shouldn't be one of the quests we are told to get so much as it should be another of your "optional" quests.

Aside from those small details I found the guide to be very smooth and quick. My Draenei Warrior has gone from 20 to 29 in a Sunday's play time thanks to you. Keep up the good work Boston.

Thanks for the feedback. I

Thanks for the feedback.

I know that the guide is a little behind in experience and the problem is being worked on.

The Stormwind Seasoning Herbs are for the quest [25] Seasoned Wolf Kabobs in Level 27b.

I took the James Hyal quest out. I'm not even sure why I put it in there in the first place.

That quest was meant to be optional. I reworded it to make it more understandable.

Very nice

I got a new alt coming up, and as soon he is 20 I am gonna try this guilde out to get it to 30.
My first impression is very good:

- You divided the levels in parts, which makes it easier to see if you are going to fast or not.. also the icons of HS/repair are very nice. You recognize them very fast, so you can just read through the guide while seeing such an icon, you won't read over it.

I can't wait to try it out =)

I've read through your guide

I've read through your guide and by the looks of it it's every bit as good as Jame's guides are. I have no more characters below level 30 (I have every class lvl'd to 70 or close) but I plan to level my final character using the guides on wow-pro just to see how fast it can be done, and this guide will be a part of that. Just waiting for the revamp of alliance 30-60 and my lovely draenei hunter can get going:-) Good job!

We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We've been doing so much with so little for so long, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

Hey I read your comment,

Hey I read your comment, thanks for the feedback. When you do get a character through, would you mind taking note of how long it took you to finish and how much xp you were ahead/behind if any at different levels. My xp rates were a little off and it would be a lot of help if someone could test run this. Thanks again.

Yes, that is my plan exactly

Yes, that is my plan exactly to mark where in the guides I level up, and to mark where I am when the guide says I should level up. I will do this with your 12-20 and 20-30 guide aswell. I also plan to measure how much rested I have. By reading your guide (and not following it leveling, but comparing my own leveling experiences 20-30) I get a sense that there is too much content to finish in those ten levels. By going Ashenvale->Wetlands->Ashenvale (after they added the quests in Forest Song and made Dun Modr non elite) I usually get to 30-31. Getting to 31 before starting Jame's guide is a good thing though since he spends it grinding harpies for a bag you can buy for a few golds in the AH (I assume this will be removed in the revamp). I can't remember how much rested was involved in this though, so I'll leave it to my hunter to get the answers I want:-)

We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We've been doing so much with so little for so long, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

Very nice guide

I'm about halfway through it so far, working very well, clove the maps and colour scheme. One comment though in the 24b Area is that the "an Aggressive Defence" quest is bugged and near impossible to complete at this level. The problem is that the mobs spawn on top of each other an the camps and you cannot pull less than 5 at a time. Pity. Hopefully this will be fixed in 2.4

Anyway Great guide
Cheers mate
Brad

Awesome guide, but I'm having some problems...

Thanks a lot for writing the guide. So far (I'm level 25) it's been great. Right now, I'm at the part where I have to get crystalized scales from the Blackened Basilisks in the Charred Vale, and I'm having serious problems! First of all, there were so few blackened basilisks there that I had to wait a very, very long time between each one, and going deep into the charred vale to get the other kinds of basilisk is out of the question. I tried a couple of times, but got instantly killed by...well...everything, really. So right now, my armor is so low that I have no other choice but to hearth back to Ashenvale, repair, and continue with the other quests in the guide. Is it really supposed to be this hard to find blackened basilisks?

Boston's picture

I'm not sure. With my

I'm not sure. With my character I ran into no problems and all the crocolisks were level 23ish. I may have messed up with the coordinates. Try going to the top of the Charred Vale (the way that leads into it). If you still run into problems let me know and I'll see if that quest should be dropped or not. If you want you can skip it since you're ahead of the guide anyway.

awesome guide

This was an awesome guide! I started halfway through 20 due to a DM run giving me more EXP than expected. I hit 30 before the the final duskwood circuit and hit 31 before the end of the guide. just a few things for anyone using this guide.
Pridewings in stonetalon were basically respawning right on top of me. fun but challenging for those without a pet. The quest where you have to get 9 Flint Stone, get ready for a long wait on these. The drop rate was quite low. The EXP was worth it in the end.

all around a very great guide and extremely easy to follow. Working on Jame's 30-40 guide now and is even easier to read now because i leveled through this guide. The only change i would recommend would be to list the same mods as jame's guide. Titan pannel is a great mod but i am becoming more partial to FuBar.

Great Job Boston, i have and will continue to use and recommend this guide to friends.

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to change the mods listed as the ones I have on there are very basic and easy to use. It seems my guide dishes out a little more experience than I thought. I'm trying to decide if I should keep it that way (then you may get to 70 faster with some quests left over) or if I should drop some runs.

Just some additional tips

Just some additional tips (only played till section 22a):

- in Lakeshire get the quest for Hillary's Necklace (easy XP)
- when running from Elwynn to Redridge, get the quest from guard Parker
- when running to Darkshire from Redridge deliver Parker's Meal (starts in Lakeshire Inn) get followup
- the flight quests are also nice xp-wise (first quest has no ! as it's below lvl):
[Redridge - Stormwind - Redridge
Redridge - Westfall - Redridge
Redridge - Darkshire - Redridge]

- for Murlocs and Black Whelps SE of the Everstill Bridge is a nice area where there are more (in case first place is occupied)

- at start of first Duskwood Circuit take the quest The Hermit (from Elaine Carevin) as you're going to him anyway

Greetings Juri (will add more as my char progresses Eye )

Very nice guide

Just completed the guide. I went from 20 - 30 in about 8 hours of game play on a NE hunter. I did have a bit of afk and fishing/cooking, but otherwise, It was about 7-8 hours. I think I did quite well there.

I have found myself very far ahead in the guide sometimes. i think its because I always follow the 'kill everything on your way rule' or maybe It took me awhile to get the required drop of a mob (That Ooze quest in Wetlands). I also stayed until I found all the relics in dino place in the Wetlands. You sure love the wetlands xD

Anyway, because I found myself ahead, and often drifting off the guide, I might of hit 30 a lot earlier If I didn't skip out some areas in your guide (Some of the Darkshire quests and the last Wetlands quest run). However, for hr parts I did use, it was a very good guide and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't like the 20 - 30 period (Like myself).

Thank you Boston. Smiling

My first impression of the guide was: WOW! Detailed maps, loved the HS, repair and restock icons and the quest items are all screened. I'm starting with the guide now and I hope it's as good as it looks. I found your 1-20 guide very decent so I guess that this will be as good as your previous two.

Great work!

Good work!

Hey Boston, I think you lightened Jame's load a little. Smiling

Very well written and thought out. I think with this, Jame can skip his 20-30 guide and begin work on his revamps for v2.3. Very nice work.

Looks nice :) found 1 mistake

Looking awesome

Had a quick look thru the guide and must say it looks awesome mate.
I did some reruns of your previous levelling guides and will certainly do this one too (will combine it with my new hobby, multiboxing Eye )

Yeah, go ahead and start

Yeah, go ahead and start from the level 25 section of the guide. If you start getting behind in XP, grind until you catch up.

Raene's Cleansing

You also forgot to mention to pick up Raene's Cleansing. When I got to Teronis' Corpse there was no quest.
