  • The guide's layout has been modified to look even more like Jame's Guides.
  • Section names have been changed.
  • Maps have been edited and some maps have been removed.
  • Boat path changes have been made.
  • Minor spelling errors and other errors have been removed.
  • Recommended addons have been changed to newer versions.
  • Table of Contents have been removed.
Introduction

This is a detailed, in depth guide on leveling an Alliance character from level 20 to level 30. It is focused on questing rather than grinding, though some parts you may be asked to grind. Other guides such as Maw's Alliance Leveling Guide 12-20 or Boston's 12-20 Alliance Leveling Guide will lead into this guide, and are recommended to use before this one. It will otherwise be difficult to begin using this guide, and you will at times find yourself without the right quests at a certain time.
This guide will lead into Jame’s Alliance Leveling Guides and those will bring you all the way to level 77.

Basic Rules
  • Spend your talent points so that you kill things as fast as possible. (e.g: Priest should specialize in Shadow Talents, Warriors in Arms/Fury, etc.)

  • Don't waste your time trying to find groups for questing, you can solo everything that is described in this guide unless I say otherwise. Only group with someone when it's not gonna be a waste of time (e.g: meeting the person at the other end of the zone to show him the way to where your quest is, that is a waste of time)

  • Try to always log out in an inn or in one of the major cities when you take a break.

  • When I say you should make an inn your new home location, it's for a good reason, and it will save you much time.

Useful Addons

To get the most out of my guide, you should get an addon which displays coordinates, because I use them to describe locations in my guide (x,y). You can use any addon you like, but here's a very simple one I use.

Recommended

  • DMiniCoords - A simple box which displays coordinates, left-click it to move it where you like.

Optional

Below is a list of other addons I use, this is 100% optional though, it's mostly for people who are curious to know which addons I use:

Side Note: In case you don't know how to install add-ons, simply download an addon from one of the links above and unzip it. Then drag the unziped folder in your Addon folder (full path is c:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Interface\\Addons). Then, restart World of Warcraft and it should be working.

If it isn't working, you might need to log out to your character selection screen and click on "Addons" in the lower-left corner. Tick the box that says "Load out of date Addons". Re-launch WoW.

This is taken directly from Jame's Horde Leveling Guide - Chapter II (31-41), thanks Jame.

Shopping List
  • Bronze Tube: For the quest [25] Look to the Stars in section Level 27b

Try to get this as soon as possible and store it in your bank until you need it when the guide tells you to get it.

The Guide

Level 20a

First you’ll need to get to the city of Stormwind. If you don’t have the flight path here get it. Do what you need to here (train, sell, etc.) and leave the town through the south gate when you’re ready. Follow the road until you get to Goldshire. Once here, head down the eastern road. Keep going until you come to a tower on the left side of the road (64,68). Go inside and get the quest [21] A Watchful Eye from Theocritus at the top. Head back to the road and continue east until you come to Redridge Mountains.

Keep going and you’ll come to the town Lakeshire. Get the flight path in front of the bridge. Cross the bridge and get the quest [18] The Price of Shoes from Verner Osgood.

Fly to Stormwind and head to Goldshire again. Turn in your quest to Smith Argus. Get the follow-up and return to Stormwind. Then fly to Lakeshire.

If you have done [16] The Lost Tools, skip this next paragraph. If you haven’t, pick it up from Foreman Oslow. Head east to Lake Everstill. About in the middle you’ll find the Sunken Chest at the bottom (41,54). Look out for Lake Thresher, a level 25 elite Loch Ness Monster looking thing. Loot Oslow's Toolbox then turn it back in to Foreman Oslow.

Cross the bridge and get the following quests:

  • [21] Blackrock Menace from Marshall Marris
  • [20] The Everstill Bridge from Foreman Oslow
  • [18] Underbelly Scales from Verner Osgood (becomes the follow-up after turning in your current quest to him)
  • [20] A Baying of Gnolls from Verner Osgood
  • [21] Selling Fish from Dockmaster Baren
  • [20] Murloc Poachers from Dockmaster Baren
Go to the inn and make it your home location.

Level 20b

==NOTE== From now on kill any Black Dragon Whelp you come across.

1. Head east out of town to the lake. You’ll immediately come across a murloc camp (40,45). Murlocs are all around this area in the water. Kill them until you complete [21] Selling Fish and [20] Murloc Poachers.

2. Head north along the road until you see a dirt path on your left leading to a gnoll camp (38,32). Kill these guys until you finish [20] A Baying of Gnolls and [20] The Everstill Bridge. You can also head northwest into the mountains for more to kill (in fact you may need to for more mystics).

3. Head back to the road and follow it northeast to Render’s Camp at (44,18). Since we can’t go further into the camp because of the higher levels, we’re going to do a triangle between three spots until we finish [18] Underbelly Scales and [21] Blackrock Menace. Once you killed all the orcs here, head south to (42,32) and kill Black Dragon Whelps around this area. Once you killed them all, head southwest to (39,40) and kill the Blackrock Orcs here. Head between the three coordinates, (44,18), (42,32), and (39,40), until you finish your 2 quests.

4. Head back to Lakeshire and turn in your 6 quests (turn in [18] Underbelly Scales to Verner Osgood first because at level 21 it become green and we want to most experience for it). Get the follow-up for [20] A Baying of Gnolls called [21] Howling in the Hills.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Level 21a

1. Head north to the mountains where the gnolls are (27,21). Yowler is here in a camp with two others. Kill him and take his paw.

2. Return to Lakeshire and turn in your quest. Head across the bridge and follow the road until you get to a crossroad (15,71). Take the southern road until you get to Duskwood.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Level 21b

1. Keep following the road until you get to the town of Darkshire. Once here, get the flight path.

Go to the inn and make it your home location.

Head across the road (sort of) to a big, house-like building. Get the quests [20] Raven Hill and [23] Deliveries to Sven from Elaine Carevin.

8. In Darkshire, turn in your quest to Chef Grual and get the follow-up. Head outside and turn in your quest to Madame Eva. Get the follow-up. Head outside and get the quest [24] The Night Watch from Commander Althea Ebonlocke. You should definitely be Level 22 by now. Fly to Stormwind.

Level 22b

Fly to Stormwind.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Head to the western district called the Mage Quarter. Make a left once you enter this district until you see Collin Mauren standing on your left on the raised sidewalk (43,80). Get his quest [26] Retriveal for Mauren. When you’re ready, take the tram to Ironforge. Fly to Thelsmar, Loch Modan (or walk there if you don’t have the flight path and get it once there). Once there, follow the main road north until you get to a tunnel in the mountains. Get the quest [21] The Algaz Gauntlet from Mountaineer Rockgar in front of it. Head through the tunnel.

Level 22c

1. This will bring you to The Wetlands. Go through the next tunnel where you’ll find some orcs to your left side (48,74). Kill the Mottled Raptors and Mottled Screechers here until you complete [24] Ormer’s Revenge. A hint for the screechers: they call for help so if any other raptor is near them they’ll attack you too. Be sure to pull these guys away from any other raptor before you kill them.

5. Head back up to the excavation site in the mountains at (38,51) and turn in your quest to Ormer Ironbraid. Get the follow-up.

6. Return to Menethil Harbor and turn in your 4 quests but don’t get the follow-ups. This should bring you at least half way to Level 24.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Fly to Stormwind, and go to the docks at (22,56). Take the boat to Auberdine, Darkshore.

Level 23b

Once there, walk down the pier toward town. Turn in your quest to Fiora Longears along the way and get the follow-up. Get the flight path in town and follow the main road south. Keep going until you get to the zone, Ashenvale.

Head inside the inn and get the two quests from Raene Wolfrunner.

Go to the inn and make it your home location.

6. Turn in all your quests and get the follow-ups. Be sure and get the quest [21] Pridewings of Stonetalon from Shindrell Swiftfire. This should make you Level 24. If not, just go on with the next circle. You may fly to Darnassus or Exodar to train you new skills (closest trainer for Warlocks is all the way in Ratchet so you need to go there or all the way back to Ironforge).

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

When you’re ready, return to Astranaar and head southeast out of town until you get to Talondeep Path (43,71). Follow this tunnel all the way through to Stonetalon Mountains.

5. Return to the Alliance camp a little further up the hill. Turn in your quest but don’t take the follow-ups.

6. Get on the main road and follow it north. You’ll soon come to Mirkfallon Lake (45,46) and (50,43). In these two spots you’ll find Pridewings all around the lake. Kill them until you complete [21] Pridewings of Stonetalon.

7. Get back on the main road and head southwest to The Charred Vale (32,66). Start killing Blackened Basilisks until you complete [26] Retrieval for Mauren.

Level 24b

Hearth to Astranaar.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

1. Head southeast until you get to some Foulweald camps (50,61). Clear the guys here. If you haven’t quite finished [24] An Aggressive Defense after you kill everything, don’t worry because we’re coming back later.

2. Head south to Silverwind Refuge (50,67). Get the quest [24] Elemental Bracers from Sentinel Velene Starstrike inside.

3. Jump into the lake directly south of you. Kill the Befouled Water Elementals here until you get 5 Intact Elemental Bracers from one of them. Once you have them, use your Divining Scroll.

4. Return to Silverwind Refuge and turn in your quest. Do not get the follow-up.

5. Head north to the Foulweald camp and finish [24] An Aggressive Defense.

6. Get back on the main road and head east. Eventually you’ll come to a small town on the northern side of the road called Forest Song (87,45). Turn in your quest to Architect Nemos. Don’t get any of the quests here, just the flight path. Fly to Astranaar.

By now you should be level 25 or close to it. Turn in your 2 quests here.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Level 25a

1. East of Astranaar along the main road you’ll find a small path leading north. Follow this to Iris Lake (46,46) and grab one of the Elune’s Tears on the island in the middle of the lake.

2. Head east out of this area through the hills ahead of you (it’s very easy to get down them) and then head northeast. You’ll come to a moonwell where you’ll find Shael’dryn (53,46). Turn in your quest and get the follow-up.

3. Get out of this area and return to Astranaar. Turn in your quest here and get the follow-up. Fly to Auberdine and take the boat to Stormwind. Fly to Menethil Harbor.

Once in Menethil Harbor grab the following quests:

  • [25] Reclaiming Goods from Karl Boran
  • [26] Apprentice’s Duties from James Halloran
  • [25] Fall of Dun Modr from Harlo Barnaby
  • [26] Report to Captain Stoutfist from Valstag Ironjaw (which you turn in at the top floor of the keep)
  • [26] War Banners from Captain Stoutfist (follow-up of previous
  • [27] The Third Fleet from First Mate Fitzsimmons
Once you done with that, head inside the inn and buy a Flagon of Mead.

Go to the inn and make it your home location.

Turn in your quest to First Mate Fitzsimmons just outside but don’t get the follow-up. Do what you need to here before we leave.

Level 25b

1. Head to Whelgar’s Excavation Site and up the hill to the camp. Get the quest [28] Uncovering the Past from Prospector Whelgar and head down into the actual site. From now on kill Mottled Scytheclaws and Mottled Razormaws along the way as you finish this quest. You’ll see these things on the ground that are either jars, loose soil, or small tomb-like structures. These are hard to map as they spawn all over the place so just look for them while finishing your other quest.

Once you finish [27] Ormer’s Revenge (it’s okay if you didn’t finish [28] Uncovering the Past, we’re coming right back to the site), head back to the camp and turn in your quest. Get the follow-up and head to the western side of this small valley. At about (31,38) you’ll see a path leading up into the mountains. Follow this up and around until you get to the top ledge. Here you’ll see Sarltooth. He’s level 29 but a pretty easy kill. If you don’t think you can kill him, leave him for now and come back later. The reason we came up here anyway is to see if there is another fragment we can get. If you killed him, get his claw. Finish [28] Uncovering the Past and return to the camp. Turn in your 1 (or 2) quest(s).

==NOTE== From now on kill any Giant Wetlands Crocolisk and Fen Creeper you encounter

2. Leave this area and head east until you see some Dragonmaw Orcs on your right. Make your way into Angerfang Encampment at (43,43) and kill the orcs here until you complete [26] War Banners.

3. Once done with that, head northwest into the swamps until you come to a small house with a windmill (26,25). Around this house (typically to around the northern side) you’ll find Giant Wetlands Crocolisks and Fen Creepers. Make wide semi-circles around the northern side of the house until you finish [26] Apprentice’s Duties and [26] Blisters on The Land (the Fen Creepers are invisible and roam only in the water so you’ll have to look for them).

4. Head southeast to Rethiel the Greenwarden at (56,40). Turn in your quest to him.

5. Hearth to Menethil Harbor and head north to Bluegill Marsh. Go to the camp at (13,41) and turn in your quest to the Damaged Crate there. Get the follow up and head to the camp just north of you (13,38). Turn in your quest to the sealed barrel and get the follow-up. Head to the camp north of you and turn in your quest there (13,34). Get the follow-up and go to Menethil Harbor.

6. Turn in you 3 quests but don’t get the follow-up. This should make you over Level 26. Fly to Ironforge.

Level 25c

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink, and train.

Take the tram to Stormwind. By now you should have your Bronze Tube so grab that out of your bank or wherever. Head to the trade district from the old town but don’t enter the actual district. After crossing the bridge to the trade district, make a left here and head to the end of the wall of the trade district. Here you’ll find the shop Fragrant Flowers (64,60). Head inside and buy Stormwind Seasoning Herbs from Felicia Gum. Now go to the Mage’s Quarter and turn in your quest to Collin Mauren. Once that’s done, fly to Lakeshire.

Get the following quests from here:

  • [25] Blackrock Bounty from Guard Howe (right next to you)
  • [23] Shadow Magic from Marshal Marris
  • [25] Tharil’zun from Marshal Marris
  • [26] Wanted: Gath’llzogg from wanted poster in front of town hall
  • [23] Solomon’s Law from Bailiff Conacher (inside town hall)
  • [26] Wanted: Lieutenant Fangore from wanted poster in front of inn
  • [24] An Unwelcome Guest from Martie Jainrose (west side of town)
From where you’re at, head west out of town until you see Bellygrub (16,49). Kill him, loot his tusk, then turn in the quest just east of you.

Go to the inn and make it your home location.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Look in you quest log to make sure you still have a quest we got in the beginning called [21] A Watchful Eye. If not, refer to the beginning on how to get it.

Level 26a

1. Head northeast along the main road into the mountains. Take the left path once the road falls apart to get to Render’s Camp (35,9). Kill any Blackrock Champion you see as you make your way to the back where you’ll find a cave. Enter and go down the left side and make your way to the bottom. Here you’ll find Corporal Keeshan (28,12). He is an escort quest where you’ll have to follow him and protect him while he gets out of the cave. So kill the rest of the Blackrock Champions you need for the quest then take his quest and start following him. The mobs here are close together so always try to make the pull your self. Once outside the cave, he’ll stop to rest. At this point you need to pull the camps. So start with the one on your right and make the best pull, then repeat with the left. Otherwise, he’ll just charge in and aggro everything. From there he’ll go straight to Lakeshire.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Start trying to find a group to do [25] Tharil’zun and [26] Wanted: Gath’llzogg. If you do, skip to step 5. After you’re done, come back to finish the other steps. If you don’t find a group, do the steps in order until number 5. At number 5, finish the quest [23] Shadow Magic and skip the killing of the two other guys. The missing exp. won’t kill you and you’ll be able to make it up.)

2. Get back on the main road and head northeast. This time, when you get to the fork, head east. Keep going until you come to some gnoll camps. Kill any of them you see as you make your way to Lieutenant Fangore (80,38). Kill him and loot his paw.

3. Head south until you see a lion statue next to the mountain (84,46). Turn in your quest to it and get the follow-up.

4. Continue to kill gnolls and head west. You’ll soon come to some orcs along the road. You need to go to the tower on the right side (63,50). Make your way to the top of the tower, being careful not to get extras. At the top, turn in your quest to the jar on top of a barrel.

5. Head out of the tower and go down the left road this time. This will bring you to a keep (67,55). Kill the orcs out front and gather the Midnight Orbs from the Blackrock Shadowcasters. Once the front is clear, make a sharp left at the wall toward the back and clear the orcs here. In this area you’ll find Tharil’zun along with 3 or 4 other mobs. Kill him and loot his head. Back out of this area toward the keep and head inside. At the top you’ll find Gath’llzogg along with 2 other mobs and another elite. Kill him and loot his head. If you haven’t finished [23] Shadow Magic, do so before you leave.

If you haven’t finished [23] Solomon’s Law do so now by killing the gnolls. Step 6 and 7 are a little hard and are optional.

6. Return to the lion statue and get the quest [26] Morganth from it.

7. Head to the tower west of you just across the road (79,49). Make your way to the top where you’ll find Morganth. Kill him and loot his Pendant of Shadow. Now hearth to Lakeshire.

Turn in all of your quests here (those who did [26] Morganth, head west into Elwynn Forest to the Tower of Azora (65,69) and turn in your quest to Theocritus).

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

When you’re done, fly to Darkshire.

In Darkshire, grab the following quests:

  • [25] Look To The Stars from Viktori Prism’Antras (turn it in with the Bronze Tube and get the follow-up)
  • [28] The Legend of Stalvan from Madame Eva
  • [25] The Totem of Infliction from Madame Eva
  • [24] Deliver the Thread from Madame Eva
  • [28] Worgen in the Woods from Calor
  • [26] The Night Watch from Commander Althea Ebonlocke
  • [28] The Legend of Stalvan from Clerk Daltry (after turning in your quest to him, this becomes the follow-up)
  • [20] Return to Jitters from Chef Grual
Go to the inn and make it your home location.

You should now be Level 27.

1. Head southeast to (81,59). Turn in your quest to Blind Mary inside the small house and get the follow-up.

3. Get on the main road and head west until you come to a crossroads. Head southeast to The Yorgen Farmstead. Make your way around the field on the western side until you come to the barn (first building you will come to). Head around the back to the eastern side and kill the one defias guy there and turn in your quest to the Mound of Loose Dirt (49,77). Get the follow-up and head north to the main road.

==NOTE== Kill any Black Widow Hatchling you come across until you get 5 Vials of Spider Venom.

4. On the main road, head west. At about (32,59), start heading northwest. You’ll soon come to a small shack where you’ll find Abercrombie (28,31). Turn in your quest to him and take the follow-up.

5. Head southwest into the cemetery and start killing all of the ghoul creatures (zombie-like guys, for example, the Flesh Eaters and everything that looks like them) at around (24,36). Keep killing them until you get 10 Ghoul Fangs for the quest [25] The Totem of Infliction.

6. Head southwest out of the cemetery to (20,45) where you’ll find Skeletal Fiends and Skeletal Horrors. Kill them until you finish [26] Night Watch and gather 10 Skeleton Fingers.

7. Go south out of this area where you’ll find Jitters (18,56). Turn in your quest to him. Note: If you haven’t gotten 5 Vials of Spider Venom, then kill the Black Widow Hatchlings around the eastern edge of this area until you do.

8. Head northwest of Jitters until you get to Sven’s Camp. Turn in your quest to Sven and grab the follow-up.

Level 27c

Get on the main road to the south and head west across the bridge into Westfall. Keep following the main road west until you get to Moonbrook. Head to the schoolhouse (tallest building with a tower on top on the west side of the village) (41,66) and turn in your quest to the Old Footlocker inside. A Forlorn Spirit will spawn and attack you once you take the follow-up. So get the follow-up and kill the spawn. Hearth to Darkshire.

This should make you Level 28. Turn in [25] The Shadowy Search Continues to Clerk Daltry once you get it and get the follow-up. Head to the inn and turn in your quest to Tavernkeep Smitts and get the follow-up. If you read the clues you can figure out who the shadowy figure is as it’s someone we’ve met before Smiling. Be sure to kill the ogres as they will sometimes drop An Old History Book which will start a quest. Make your way into this area until you see a cave toward the south (33,76). Head inside and make a left at the fork. Keep heading straight and you’ll see Zzarc’ Vul. He usually has one other with him. If he does, pull him and hide around the wall to your right, like the picture below:

Kill him and loot Ogre’s Monocle from him. If you got An Old History Book from one of the ogres, start its quest. If you didn't get the book, don't worry about it. It's not necessary.

3. Get back to the crossroads and head west along the road. Head to Jitters at (18,56) and turn in your quest to him. Get the follow-up.

9. Return to Sven’s Camp and turn in your quest as well as get the follow-up.

Head northeast, across the river, and go to Goldshire. Head inside the inn and turn in your quest to Innkeeper Farley. Get the follow-up and head upstairs. In the back room you’ll see a Storage Chest by the bed. Get An Undelivered Letter from it and hearth to Darkshire.

Fantastic!

This leveling guide is amazing! I'm playing a Paladin, so after doing the Verigan's Fist quest chain I was 21 and a half - I'm currently in Ashenvale in the level 23 part and am almost 27! Haha can't complain man, thanks a lot Smiling

I'm ready to start this

I'm ready to start this guide (again). This time I'm using a shaman and I'm 50% into level 21 AND I have to start the guide yet, so I think that It will be very easy to follow the guide. I won't skip any circuit to see how far this guide takes me, unless I'll be 4 levels ahead of the guide and some quest will become gray. I'll post soon for some feedback Smiling.

i am one level ahead of the guide! should i skip to the next level or keep going?

KEEP GOING! Being ahead of the guide in levels is GREAT. ZOMG you're so lucky.

Don't skip.

THANKS!

thanks for the advice!!

Change this

Very nice guide! But you need to change step 23a. The boat to Ashenvale are not going from Menethil Harbor Anymore. It going from SW. I think it is important that you change it, Because when I used this guide to level my hunter then I did'nt find it. Puzzled finaly I find it in Stormwind Harbor. You need to change it.... That is the best. Laughing out loud

Wrath of the Menethil-Auberdine Boat Change.

Hey Boston, I just finished leveling a rogue from 20-33 on this guide, and while it was very effective, near the end 3.0.2 hit, and with that, so did a whole truckload of transportation issues between Menethil and Auberdine. Unfortunately, near the end, I spent more time moving between quest hubs then actually doing circuts, which severely impacted my XP/Hour.

It seems that, unless blizzard re-work some boat roots with the new northrend ports, this guide will need a total re-write to stay efficient.

As a final note, Excellent job with the guide, such a shame it has been made obsolete.

cleab-the-coolest's picture

AWESOME GUIDE!!!!

But i am a warlock and sometimes in your guide you tell us to go to Stormwind after we level and get new spells, and then go back to where we were, do a few quests, and then fly to Stormwind again to turn in quests. Won't it save tons of time to go to Stormwind after we do those quests? will it still be as quick? Puzzled
but over all a great guide. i appreciate that it goes into jame's guide. Smiling

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

You don't have to follow the

You don't have to follow the guide word for word. If you aren't in any hurry to get your new spells, just skip the part where he sends you to Stormwind to train (unless he has you get a quest from there).

Menethil Transportation

At this time, it seems that with all the changes in 3.0.2, the boat from Auberdine to Menethil Harbor now goes from Auberdine to Stormwind City Harbor. You can then take the griffin ride from Stormwind Harbor to Menethil Harbor or you can take the tram to Ironforge and take a griffin from there. This lvl 12-20 guide uses a couple of trips to and from the Wetlands so get used to that. Great, great guide btw. I really appreciate it.

Take care,

Cragger

Patch 3.0.2 change

Thanks for this guide, it's great, but while finishing 23a, I ran into a problem caused by patch 3.0.2, namely not being able to get to Auberdine from Menethil Harbour. The boat in Wetlands that used to go to Auberdine, now goes to the Howling fjord (iirc). The new boat to Auberdine goes from Stormwind.

Athishakthan's picture

Major overhaul needed

3.02 was no patch. It was a major update. There a lot of new quests. Some locations have changed. The guide needs a major overhaul. We should be keep posting the changes

Falling Behind!!!?

How come I keep falling behind the guide?

I'm a Draenei, I went straight to the human area to start leveling at level 1. Maybe I did a few of the quests too early? I was falling behind the 12-20 guide as well, and had to grind at least half a level to get to 20 at the end. I'm now 21 and a half, and I've finished everything in the 21b section.

Any suggestions?

Maybe you should put a blurb at the top of each guide; i.e., "If you want to use this guide, make sure you DON'T quest in the following areas before starting this guide:..." et cetera.

This guide was REALLY

This guide was REALLY helpful. At first I thought I was lost around 20, i had to do some weird things to get there, then i found this guide and it has helped me out so much, thank you very much =) time to get my mount <3
Thanks!

Please fix. Feedback and help from me.

Sorry but you've skipped the part where we need to get the quest named "Report to Mountaineer Rockgar" namely from Thelsamar from Mountainer Kadrell.

It is needed to get the quest "The Algaz Gauntlet".

Please fix it in your guide at the end of Level 22b, thank you very much.

GOOD GUIDE BUT...

How do you get the Elune’s Tears from Iris Lake in Ashnevale?

Admin's note: Fixed spelling. Please do an effort with your spelling next time. Use "you" instead of "u". Thanks in advance.

A Sidenote

A small sidenote that I noticed when leveling my priest earlier is that in part 26a, when you're fighting the gnolls, they are pretty resistant to shadow magic, and Fanglore was completely immune to my shadow spells, and my wand which did shadow damage. I was level 27, so most everything was green, but resists were happening a lot more frequently then on mobs of my level.

did your quests twice. one

did your quests twice. one problem: that basilisk quest..

seriously, drop the Retrieval for Mauren quest. Charred vale sucks (horde etc), and there are only a few spawns.

that quest should be done while doing the shimmering flats quests. much MUCH easier. besides you don't need the xp. I was 25 when I got there (1 level higher), and I started your guide when I was 20.

at level 23 a, last thing

at level 23 a, last thing there "6. Return to Menethil Harbor and turn in your 4 quests but don’t get the follow-ups. This should bring you at least half way to Level 24.
i havent even returned the quests and im already 24.. is that good or bad? Shocked

Jame's picture

Very good!

Very good!

Didn't see this commented on

Didn't see this commented on but if you're really having a hard time or want to skip killing the basilisks in Stonetalon, you can hold onto the quest until you hit STV. The basilisks you kill there for Singing Blue Crystals drop the same scales you need for Mauren in SW. Not as much XP as if you handed it in right away but better then dropping it altogether.

I have a warlock, mage, and druid stalled in their low 20s (maybe I just got bored with the same quests though) that I might try your guide out on and see if I can't get them to 30 to at least get their mounts. And if it works well on my clothies maybe I'll even try to level my level 18 priest/mule to 30. If i do, I'll definitely keep track of the time and leveling and post it. I'm a horrible priest so it would be a real accomplishment for me to get one that high. Laughing out loud

Quest Names

Love the leveling guides at wow-pro! I am using them for all my toons now. One thing that I think you should follow Jame's lead on tho: Rather than using a phrase like "Talk to Blind Mary and turn in your quest, get the follow up", could you give the name of the quest for each turn in and follow up? Since all my alts were at various levels when I discovered and started using these guides, it makes it MUCH easier to try to synch up with them if I know which quest chain (and where in the quest chain) I need to be to get on track.

Other than that, I am loving the work that you, Jame, and Snowflake are doing (those are the only ones I have used so far). It is making the game much more enjoyable having a plan, rather than wandering around aimlessly.

Hello, yesterday evening I

Hello, yesterday evening I leveled to 30 using this guide. It was pretty fast from 20 to 30, so gratz Boston Eye.

I began with 50% rested bonus, so I was always a bit ahead of the guide. In fact I jumped some sections, such as most of Ashenvale and ALL The stonetalon Mountains (levels 23-25), then the Redrirdge Mountains (level 26a) and the last part in Forest Song. I am now at level 30 with 3 bars of xp and absolutely ready form the Jame's guide Laughing out loud. I am an Hunter, so I hadn't any kind of problems while leveling Sticking out tongue. But the next char will be a Warrior, a bit harder to level. Anyway, I have to say that sometimes the guide doesn't tell you to turn in a quest, or it tells you to get a quest that actually you can't take (the wolf kabob's quest in Duskwood). The other users pretty wrote everything about the guide, so bye Smiling

Boston. I've been following your guide from 12-20

You repeat quest at the beginning of this.
I'm confused.

Benhir's picture

Hi Herosol, the reason

Hi Herosol, the reason Boston put again that quest at the beginning of the guide it's simple: the guide is for people who actually didn't follow the 12-20 part. If you did that quest (such as me) simply skip it and go strainght with the guide. If you noticed, he also say to walk to Loch Modan from IF, but if you followed the previous part just skip Smiling.
Bye,
Benhir

Humans

I have just been reading through your guide, and my alt is only 18, and i have already finished some of the quests mentioned early in your guide, being a human probably doesn't help me there. You may wish to add a side note somewhere about completing your preceding guides in sequence.

Don't do [26] Retrieval for Mauren

" 7. Get back on the main road and head southwest to The Charred Vale (32,66). Start killing Blackened Basilisks until you complete [26] Retrieval for Mauren. "

I recommend to abandon this quest. The Basilisks have an awful drop rate, and the Charred Vale is full of harpies which flee when they have low HP and probably kill you a couple of times. The Basilisks are few and far between. This quest is not worth your time.

Kastoli's picture

Basalisks

If you kill the lower level basilisks, and fire elementals on the way into the charred vale; they share the same respawn. You don't need to go anywhere near the harpies, but the drop rate is like 20%.

~Kastoli

~Kastoli

LucidTaint's picture

Basilisks for the Lose

Agreed. I've been following this guide to the T, except for that one quest. I level with my friend, as a duo team, so any item collection quest can be quite the grind. But this one was particularly horrible.

We only found about 6 basilisks throughout the entire Charred Vale, the drop rate was about 20%, and their respawn rate was pretty horrible. I'm almost positive that they share spawn points with the other mobs there, but we didn't want to waste our time.

Being that we were playing shamans, and had gotten ahead of the guide in experience by doing our water totem quest anyway, it wasn't a big deal to just drop this one.

Instead, after getting our venom sacs from the pridewings (and failing to get many basilisk scales), we ran up to the flight path in Stonetalon and flew back to Astranaar (which also saved us our hearth for the next circuit of the guide, rather than having it be down and have to run back to town).

Abandon all Stonetalon quests!

I have to agree that this is a great leveling guide.

However, I would have to say that the quests in Stonetalon were a waste of time for me - the basiliks took forever, the pridewings took forever, and the venture co. guys took forever. I would suggest dropping all three of these quests, there must be a better use of time in another zone somewhere. The XP points gained from these quests were not worth the time for me.

Other than that, keep up the great work!

Thanks

nice guide

Hey dude, nice guide. I got from 20 -> 30 real fast with this. The only comment I have is in the Darkshire part, you have us kill Skeletal Fiends and Horrors for 'The Night Watch", and then kill them again for Rot Blossoms. Same with the Ghouls for the ghoul fangs for the Totem on Infliction, then Plague spreaders for "The Night Watch", even though the plague spreaders drop the fangs, and you missed out on the Abercrombie follow up "Ghoulish Effigy" for ghoul ribs.

It might be beneficial to just run to Abercrombie somehow before the level 27 circuit, so you only have to kill skeletal fiends and horrors once, and then get the ghoul fangs, plague spreaders, and the abercrombie ghoul quest in one go.

hmmm

hmmm. I started your guide at lvl 20 exactly, and im lvl 24, i read your guide 4 times and it has about 4 quests i dont have, im in Ashenvale and i only have 2 quests because your guide told me not to get some other quests, and then it tells me to turn it in.(probably just my reading), im just saying, to me, the guide sucks, you should really really consider revising it just for me, i dont understand any of it. And plus your the only 20-30 guide that is revised to this patch and xp changes.

awesome!

I just completed this guide with my night elf hunter. great guide! i started about half way to 21 which helped alot and i was so close to 30 at the end i skipped 4 quests. i was a little confused when taking follow up quests in astranaar because some quest givers have more than one, but i figured it out.

thanks a ton!

Dal Bloodclaw

Just noticed this... your guide says to go to a furbolg camp at (34, 37) and kill Dal Bloodclaw, loot his skull for a quest. However, it never says to get the quest from Raene in Astranaar. Smiling

Praise.

FYI, including the class quests done, I ended up being around 31 1/4 at the end of this.

Much thanks, well done.

Great guide Boston! I

Great guide Boston!

I followed your 12-20 and then your 20-30 on a shadow priest and hit 30 in /played 1 day 11 hours.

That's probably not too good but that's more my fault than yours Sticking out tongue

Keep up the good work!

add quests

When first entering Redridge get the quest from Guard parker since you just need to go to lakeshire and hand it in for some extra xp.

secondly when leaving lakeshire get the quest free lunch from a whoman in the in and hand it in to Guard parker on your way to duskwood.

just some tips since you might have a reason not to do these quests.

Great guide!

Thanks for the great guide. I've been following it since lvl 21 and I am now halfway to 30 at section 27b even after skipping some of the Redridge content in section 25c and with virtually no rested XP.

My only suggestion is in regards to the end of section 21b. You remind players to keep the gooey spider legs, it is also likely that they have enough lean wolf flank to complete the cooking quest as this item drops from the Starving Dire Wolf and Rabid Dire Wolf needed for [21] Wolves at Our Heels from Lars. You also suggest that we fly to Stormwind at the end of that section, but for no apparent reason. This does provide the opportunity to pick up the Stormwind Seasoning Herbs required for the [25] Seasoned Wolf Kabobs quest. It may make a difference in the quest XP turning it in at this point rather than on the next Duskwood cycle and for those (like me) who are levelling ahead of the guide, there is no need to grind on Ravagers for the wolf flank.

Thanks for an awesome guide!

Yowler

Nice guide, I've completed it with one toon, and have two others right around 25-ish. My only complaint is the Yowler part. I'd LOVE to see a non-twink do that quest solo. I got very lucky with my rogue in that when the mobs started to flee, they ran in opposite directions of any other mobs and did not draw aggro. I also got lucky when I leveled while killing one of the three mobs you pull when you fight Yowler to give me back my hp's. Sticking out tongue Yowler is not that hard but it's the fact that you pull 2 or 3 in each group that makes it rough. My other 2 toons had a group for this and it was still kinda hard. The rest of the guide is VERY well done though, no offence to Jame but yours are easier to follow. Eye

Soloed Yowler

I soloed this on my Pally (non-twink) but was around level 21-22, no problems taking him out. I just tried to kill all of the individual ones around his camp first and then went for him...if you're a non-healing class a healing potion should do it for you. He's in the lvl 21 section of the guide anyway so it doesn't make sense to do him at lvl 19.

Observation

Hello Boston. Just wanted to make a note that in section 21b of your guide on Step 1, I believe we should be picking up a quest called The Hermit. The quest sends you to Abercrombie and is the prequest to Supplies from Darkshire.

Thanks for the guide!

Yeah, now I know why I've

Yeah, now I know why I've got stuck.

Just had to go back.

Hello Boston. I have now

Hello Boston. I have now played through about half of your guide (damn weekly maintanance made me take a break:-p) I can say say right away that it's way to much content here. I have had next to no rested while playing, however I am already over one level ahead of your guide, and since I still have circuits in Redridge, Duskwood, Wetlands and a rather productive one in Ashenvale left, I reckon I'll be more like 32-33 when I'm done. Not really a bad thing, but it's not that fun to do quests when you get poor xp both from mobs and turning in the quests.

That's all for now, I'll let you know how it finishes:-)

We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We've been doing so much with so little for so long, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

I had a similar problem of

I had a similar problem of being ahead of the guide in leveling but continued with the steps for fear of losing out on later chain quests. It would be helpful to include some notes throughout the guide on quests that can be safely dropped when ahead of the level for that particular step in the guide.

Thanks again for making the guide!

Awesome Guide!

I'm having a blast following this guide thus far! It's very well-written and quite informative on where to go and what quests to pick up when. The one tiny suggestion I might make thus far is that people who are relatively new to the game mightn't know how to get from the Darnassus/Exodar region to Stormwind starting out. It might help to add brief starting directions right at the beginning. Otherwise, excellent work, and I look forward to continuing on with the guide. Smiling

This is the first time i've ever played WOW so i found the guides very informative, however as its my first time i perhaps explored a little more than someone levelling an alt or if you followed this guide to the letter.

As a consequnce of this by the time i reached duskwood (21b) i was already a couple of levels up on the guide, this meant i just bashed through all the duskwood quests without leaving and hit level 30 pretty quickly.

Still a great guide, i especially like the way its sectioned into areas as it meant i could jump to the relevant areas.

Good effort.

Bronze Tube

You dont have to buy a bronze tube from the auction house. A little down from the house where you get the first part of look to the stars(the one with the bronze tube) there is an engineering vendor who sells bronze tubes, he usually has 2 instock and he sells them for 7 silver and 60 copper each, which is much cheaper then the AH. So I reccomend you include that in your guide Smiling

Here is a screenshot of where he is (sorry for the image size XD):

admin note: had to remove the image, it was too big and was messing up the whole guide. Please resize the image and then edit your post

Bronze Tube

A lot of Engineering Supplies have it in an intermittent manner. I found mine in Wetlands to Fradd Swiftgear, near the mill were Giant Cockolisk are. That's just on the way Smiling
