Hi all

This is my first guide Sticking out tongue

This is a guide for all the players who want gold but just cant level or just dont want to!

One thing i must say before i get going is that im probably the worlds worst leveler ive never gotten a character above level 25 so the techniques i use are for lower levels but i tend to drift to area's above my level (ive explored area's like silithus with my level 25 hunter and have been called crazy for doing so lol)

This guide is for horde players but alliance can gain some knowledge from this aswell

Alot of the techniques in this guide are pretty simple and obvious but you would be amazed how many people dismiss them thinking that thier too easy or too obvious to work!

i will start with the more *used* techniques and work my way through.

Trade Skills are easy to manipulate

Ore (any level above 12 but 18+ is optimal)

Now the Ore market is flooded! every Miner who wants gold is mining and at every level too. Whether you are mining copper or mining titanium the AH will be flooded with that Ore.

But this guide is focused on Copper! Something that is in high demand and every miner can get.

First of all (stateing the obvious) sell during the week! only the most addicted (and usualy rich) players play during the week and most are willing to pay more for you product than you could get on the weekend.

I have a nifty little route that i use to farm Copper Ore that gets me a potensial of 60+ ore per hour. (I've never gone an hour strait once ive gotten to 60 it was off to the AH) Ok so heres the route:
I use a level 20+ hunter for this due to the Aspect of the Cheetah ability and whilst im mining my pet can take care of any over-zealouse Beasts.

  1. Start off in Razor Hill near the cavern that leads you too Orgrimmar.
  2. Head towards Orgrimmar but before entering the cavern take a right turn keeping as close to your left side as you can without falling in to the cavern.
  3. As you walk along the side of the cavern (carefull not to fall in) there is normaly one half way along.
  4. Soon you will reach the end of the possible walk way and you will be right next to a cave full of burning blade followers.
  5. You can either go into the cavern and mine two or three more copper deposites but have to deal with those pesky NPC's.
  6. Continue keeping as close to the left as possible without falling down any holes or cracks.
  7. As you follow along the mountainside the will be several deposites, three right next to the burning blade cave all on the same level, two half way across the mountainside opposite the sea and two more when you turn the corner.
  8. Right now you will be near the zeppelin and Orgrimmar but continue keeping to the left and as you near the area full of Harpie's there will be one just inside the cavern and one on the hill near it.
  9. Continue straight on past the road to Orgrimmar and the Caravans where that goblin is and right into Thunder Bluff caverns.
  10. You will be tempted to jump down into the cavern straight away but i move towards the area above the Burning Blade cultists and mine the deposites near them and then i jump down into the middle of the cultists, kill them, and mine the two deposites.
  11. Continue out the little area where the cultists are and take a left turn walk along the cavern and mine the many deposites along the sides and in the spikes in the middle of the walkway.
  12. I spend alot of time walking through this cavern and killing the thunder lizards and when i get to the end i return to the area above the burning blade hideout and continue untill the deposites stop spawning.
  13. Once the deposites have stoped spawning exit the cave and head diagonaly left untill i reach another Harpie den.
  14. I then head right onto the area above the harpie den and head fowards mining the deposites on the side and on the little hill to the left.
  15. Right now you are above the cavern to Orgrimmar! go to the area to the right where there is an easy area to jump to the other side of the cavern where the first deposite was.
  16. Repeat untill you have enough ore. one round normaly gets me 30-40 ore.

QuillBoar Grinding (level 12+ but the higher the better)
This is one of my favourite things to do! The NPC's in this area drop three things which intrest me. Linen Cloth, Low level Greens, and potensialy the much sought after Savoury Deviate Delight Recipe. i have recieved this recipe three times by doing this. You can find this little goldmine to the North East of the Crossroads. the Boars in this area are constantly re-spawning giving you plenty of stuff to kill. doing this gives you a hell of alot of linen cloth which helps you in the following tip.

Linen Bolts
I recently found this out and got a hell of allota gold doing this! i put around 100 stacks of 20 Linen Bolts on the AH (around 10 stacks at a time) for a buyout price of 10g... and they sold! i ran out of bolts in no time and soon enough i found myself Boar grinding to keep up with the demands for the Cloth i needed for the bolts. Higher level Characters will spend amazingly large amount of gold for thing like Linen Bolts just so that they can level thier Tailoring quickly so use this to your advantage.

Leather, Cloth, Feathers: waste not want not
Simple enough but you would be surprised how many people just leave the creatures they killed unskinned and later complain about not having enough leather or didnt pick up some Cloth or feathers for the sake of saving a weopon and not starting a new stack. dont fall in to the trap of thinking a low level green is worth more than 20 Light leather or 20 Linen Cloth! i dont know any player who would pay 10g for a low level green but i know plenty who would for 20 leather etc.

The Dead Scar
Almost impossible to miss. its near the Blood Elf main city and runs for most of a ''continent'' starting with levels 4+ all the way up to 19 with two level 21 elites. they provide the same thing as the quillboar grinding but with the promise of woolen cloth and some strong level greens with plenty of things to kill.

So theres a few of the things i use to get my gold i hope you found this guide usefull and you dont think im too much of an idiot Laughing out loud
Best Regards
Ben Cowan

P.S if anyone on here is a Horde player on the Vashj server feel free to add me as a friends. my Charachters are Sankaa, Benniboi and Bayn

Good Guide

Submitted by Ðarien on Tue, 2009-07-28 05:39.

Overall this was a pretty good guide and after trying it out, I have a few remarks.

First, as many have already stated, a map marking out the route would be helpful. If not, the use of coords to get a general idea of some of the areas would be great as well. I would also like ot point out that I grind copper on a regular basis with my main to both sell on the AH as well as help my lowbies with their blacksmithing and engineering and while your route can net 30 to 40 ore on a single run, the inclusion of points north east (such as by skull cave and working south) can net an addition 40 ores. Alot of these nodes go overlooked and can give you 3 to 4 ores per hit.

Secondly, when it comes to grinding on Quillboar, the linen drops were phenomenal, but there were very few greens that could be DE'ed by my Enchanting toon. I think I managed about 2 drops after roughly an hour of grinding. This grinding was also done using my 76 DK, in which it was pretty much a one shot one kill deal that had me flying through the area. I must admit though, the respawn rates there are indeed phenomenal as well as the Linen drops.

Again, overall, this was a good guide. Eye

Your guide seems interesting, and I'll have to try it out on my new character I'm making on Icecrown Alliance. Smiling

closed your list tag and changed it to standard numeric if that's ok with you. The roman one becomes hard to read with large numbers.

Good tips, but as others

Submitted by Jame on Mon, 2009-02-23 21:20.

Good tips, but as others have already mentioned, this guide needs:

  • Spellchecking/Proper capitalization
  • Better text formatting and layout
  • An actual map of your mining route would be MUCH better

Add these changes and we'll actually have a very good guide.

These are some pretty good

Submitted by Jiyambi on Fri, 2009-02-20 21:21.

These are some pretty good tips, and your writing and word choice is actually pretty good. But you really have to work on your spelling/punctuation/capitalization. It makes an otherwise good guide seem unprofessional. Like I said, the writing itself is quite good - just run it through a spell check for goodness sake! Smiling

Also, the little circuit you describe would really benefit from a map. I'm hoping to release my guide on how to make maps with the free image editing program GIMP this weekend, so that may help you out.

Overall, good first attempt, I'm sure if you fix it up a little more it can become an excellent guide!

You say there's a FREE image editing program?

And here I've been using Paint for the images in my guides Sticking out tongue

You should really release such a guide, I think alot of people will benefit from it (I know I will!) Eye

Sweet guide dood!

Submitted by frugodude on Fri, 2009-02-20 22:03.

You have to remember to just spell check it and make sure to read back through it. Writing the guide is half of the work and the other is the presentation. Some people may not read it because you didn't spell some words right(Some people are just mean or they can't understand you!).

I agree that a map would help big time. Guides are great in telling in great detail of what to look for in words. But what's even better are pictures. What do most poeple look at first when they look at a page with a bunch of paragraphs and lines and a few big pictures? The pictures!! If you can get the maps on there and edit it with a few routes, your guide will be worthy of money. Smiling

For a first guide? Well done. And I'm surprised you haven't gone past lvl 25! What is a lvl 25 supposed to do with 10k gold?!?!

P.S. Being lvl 30 helps because you can ride a mount around for the mining spots! Shocked
