I. Intro:
This is a guide to help Death Knights speed through levels 58 to 60 as quickly as possible, using quests consisting of items that are un-soulbound that may be gathered beforehand and simply mailed to the Death Knight. The counterpart to this guide is the Death Knight Levels 60-70 Shopping List Guide, which includes more items to collect beforehand for turn in quests that reward experience at level 60 through 68 and recommended Bind-on-Equip weapons and armor for Death Knights.
To begin with, in leveling a Death Knight past their specific instanced starting zone, I’ve found that at Light’s Hope Chapel (right next to where all Death Knights can Death Gate to,) there are quite a few very quests that reward a great amount of XP for just turning in non-soulbound quest items. Additionally, these items could be either farmed or bought off the auction house beforehand and simply mailed to the Death Knight soon after character creation, thus making these quests very efficient in gaining XP quickly.
However, the only down side to these quests is that a player must have a friendly reputation with the Argent Dawn, a faction that Death Knights start at neutral with. To circumvent this, a Death Knight can simply do some of the Western Plaguelands quests to quickly gain reputation for the later turn ins. While most Death Knights will simply finish the initial Death Knight start zone at level 58 and go to straight Outland and its Hellfire Peninsula, this a guide for future Death Knights who want to gain as much early experience as quickly as possible, to be able to get to Hellfire Peninsula at level 60 instead of 58. Being at level 60 before entering Outland has certain advantages, such as having access to both Death & Decay and the ability for the Death Knight to have a full 51 points to spend on upper-tier talents. Also, with the Death Knight’s amazing quest gear that they receive right out of their initial zone, leveling to 60 using Western Plaguelands’ quests allows for very amazingly quick experience gain. This is due to the fact that the Plaguelands were tuned for much lower levels of quality in gear than the Death Knight’s gear, allowing a Death Knight to simply mow through the enemies with ease that used to give any other class trouble.
Death Knights who follow this guide and have all of the prerequisite required materials beforehand should be easily able to get to level 60 within just over an hour of completing the initial Death Knight zone. This is about the same amount of time that it would take to grind 58-60 on the much tougher Hellfire Peninsula enemies alone.
Note: Obviously this guide was written for those of us who are waiting for the Wrath of the Lich King expansion to be released, and thus have the ‘free time’ to gather things like the Light’s Hope Chapel’s turn ins and three hundred Wool/Silk/Mageweave/Runecloth. After the expansion has been released for a while, this guide will most likely be depreciated a bit, at least on the turn ins portion. However, the Western Plaguelands’ quests will still be a very easy way to get pre-60 XP, especially due to the fact that Death Knights have both the amazing skills and gear to simply mow through the Plaguelands versus the enemies in Outland that are generally much tougher and thus take longer to grind.

IV. Speed Leveling Guide – Horde:
- 1. Finish quests in the initial start zone for Death Knights. After helping to take back the Ebon Hold from the Scourge, you will eventually be forced to take a portal to Orgrimmar and attempt to get on Thrall’s good side. After you talk to Thrall to turn in [55] Warchief’s Blessing, you will be officially done with all of the initial Death Knight quests.OPTIONAL: After the battle for Light’s Hope, you will be offered a choice between two quest rewards: Greataxe of the Ebon Blade or Greatsword of the Ebon Blade. Undoubtedly most people will choose the Greatsword solely due to its very unique Death Knight look, but the axe is actually marginally better and offers the advantage of helping you level up your Two-Handed Axe skill from the initial 270 while following this guide to level 60 (from which you can then use a Blade of Misfortune, if you obtained one). It is important that Death Knights keep both their Two-Handed Sword and Two-Handed Axe skills somewhat up to date as they level, as there are amazing weapons for both types at varying level ranges and you do not want to be too far behind when you switch off. This is entirely optional however, as the Two-Handed Axe skill points you will get while following this guide to level 60 is minimal compared to how much more you will need to train up to properly use the next upgrade past the Blade of Misfortune, which is the Honed Voidaxe from the Ring of Blood quest line at level 65 in Nagrand.
- 2. Find Rashona Straglash (63, 50) in the Drag and turn in [60] A Donation Of Wool Cloth, [60] A Donation of Silk Cloth, [60] A Donation of Mageweave and [60] A Donation Of Runecloth. (There is a mailbox nearby in the Drag if you have yet to pick up all of the three hundred of each type of cloth required.)
- 3. Ride over to the Valley of Spirits and find Vehena (38, 86) in the two story troll hut with the mage trainers. Turn in [60] A Donation Of Wool Cloth, [60] A Donation of Silk Cloth, [60] A Donation of Mageweave and [60] A Donation Of Runecloth.
- 4. From Orgrimmar, fly to Thunder Bluff. On the middle rise, find Rumstag Proudstrider (43, 42) and turn in [60] A Donation Of Wool Cloth, [60] A Donation of Silk Cloth, [60] A Donation of Mageweave and [60] A Donation Of Runecloth.
- 5. Death Gate back to the Ebon Hold. Train all of your level 58 skills and talents, and also don’t forget to put a runeforged enchant on your new Greataxe of the Ebon Blade or Greatsword of the Ebon Blade!
- 6. Pick up the Ebon Hold’s flight path point from the ghoul named Grimwing on the balcony of the first floor.
- 7. From the Ebon Hold, fly to Silver Moon City. Find Sorim Lightsong (66, 53) in the Bazaar and turn in [60] A Donation Of Wool Cloth, [60] A Donation of Silk Cloth, [60] A Donation of Mageweave and [60] A Donation Of Runecloth.
- 8. Travel to the Undercity using the teleporter in the back of the Sunfury Spire.
- 9. Find Ralston Farnsley (71, 29) in the inner ring of the Magic Quarter and turn in [60] A Donation Of Wool Cloth, [60] A Donation of Silk Cloth, [60] A Donation of Mageweave and [60] A Donation Of Runecloth.
- 10. IMPORTANT: Set your hearth in Undercity. The inn keeper is on the top floor/ring of the Trade Quarter.
- 11. Pick up [50] A Call To Arms: The Plaguelands! from Harbinger Balthazad, in the Trade Quarter. He wanders around.
- 12. Ride over to the Bulwark on the border of the Western Plaguelands, and turn in [50] A Call To Arms: The Plaguelands! to High Executor Derrington (83, 69). Accept the follow up [53] Scarlet Diversions from him and pick up a Flame in a Bottle from the now-clickable Box of Incendiaries at his side. Then find Mehlar Dawnblade (83, 71) on the other side of the Bulwark and accept [58] The So-Called Mark Of The Lightbringer from him.OPTIONAL: Get and equip an Argent Dawn Commission from Argent Officer Garush (83, 68), if you wish to collect scourge stones as you will be slaughtering quite a few undead enemies that will drop them.
- 13. (38, 54) Ride over to Felstone field and find the ghost of Janice Felstone on the second floor of the farm house (the northern building). Accept [52] Better Late Than Never from her.
- 14. (38, 55) In the barn next to the house, look on the ground for Janice’s Parcel. Click on it to turn [52] Better Late Than Never, and then click on it again to accept the follow up that is also named [52] Better Late Than Never.
- 15. (40, 53) Find the Scarlet Camp between Felstone Field and Dalson’s Tears for [53] Scarlet Diversions. Then click on the tent to burn it down (if you can’t click on the tent, that is because you forgot the Flame in a Bottle from the box at the Bulwark, and you need to go back and get it!), and then click on the Scourge Banner in your inventory to plant it.
- 16. Hearth back to the Undercity. Find Royal Overseer Bauhaus (69, 43), who is the Trade Quarter by the Guild Charter area, and turn in [52] Better Late Than Never. Accept the follow up [52] The Jeremiah Blues, and then turn it in to Jeremiah Payson (66, 44) (better known as the cockroach vendor), who can be found under the walkway leading up to the bank. Then accept the follow up [52] Good Luck Charm.
- 17. Ride back to the Bulwark. Turn in [53] Scarlet Diversions and accept [53] The Scourge Cauldrons and [56] All Along the Watchtowers. Then turn in [53] The Scourge Cauldrons to Shadow Priestess Vandis (83, 71) on the other side of the Bulwark and accept the follow up [53] Target: Felstone Field.
- 18. (37, 57) Ride back to Felstone Field, where you will find and kill Cauldron Lord Bilemaw and loot the Felstone Field Cauldron Key. Click the cauldron to turn in [53] Target: Felstone Field and accept the follow up [53] Return to the Bulwark. (If the Cauldron Lord is not around, keep killing undead in the field until he spawns. This is the same for the other three Cauldron Lords in future steps.)
- 19. (38, 53) Turn in [52] Good Luck Charm to Janice Felstone on the second floor of the house and accept the follow up [54] Two Halves Become One.
- 20. (38, 57) Outside the farm house try to find a Jabbering Ghoul, who is a greenish ghoul wielding a pitchfork (he spawns at 38, 57 if you do not initially see him). Kill him and loot the Good Luck Other-Half-Charm, which needs to be right-clicked in your inventory to combine with the Good Luck Half-Charm given to you when you accepted the quest. Once combined into the Good Luck Charm, return to the ghost of Janice Felstone in the farm house to turn in [54] Two Halves Become One.
- 21. Return to the Bulwark, and turn in [53] Return to the Bulwark and accept the follow up [55] Target: Dalson’s Tears.
- 22. (46, 52) Ride over to Dalson’s Tears, and do as you did at Felstone Field by finding and killing Cauldron Lord Malvinious and looting the Dalson’s Tears Cauldron Key. Click on the cauldron to turn in [55] Target: Dalson’s Tears and accept the follow up [55] Return to the Bulwark.
- 23. (47, 50) In the barn next to the field at Dalson’s Tears, find and click on Mrs. Dalson’s Diary on the floor. Accept and complete [55] Mrs. Dalson’s Diary that it gives you.
- 24. (47, 49) Find an appropriately named Wandering Skeleton, who wanders behind the barn and farmhouse. Kill it and get the Dalson Outhouse Key that it will drop. (If you can’t find the skeleton, it is probably because it apparently shares a spawn with other Scourge enemies in the area. Kill a few, skip to step 27 and come back later for steps 25-26.)
- 25. (48, 49) Use the Dalson Outhouse Key obtained earlier on the outhouse with a blue question mark over it for [55] Locked Away, and a ghoul named Farmer Dalson will spawn. Kill him and he will drop a Dalson Cabinet Key.
- 26. (47, 49) On the second floor of the farm house next to the barn and outhouse, find a Locked Cabinet. Accept and complete [55] Locked Away from it using the Dalson Cabinet Key obtained in the previous step.
- 27. (51, 28) Ride north to a small valley at the end of this area, where you will find Kirsta Deepshadow. Accept [56] Unfinished Business from her.
- 28. (50, 40) Ride down to the beginning of the road to Hearthglen and kill 2 Scarlet Mages and 2 Scarlet Knights for the first half of [56] Unfinished Business.
- 29. (51, 44) Just further south is another camp. Kill 2 Scarlet Hunters and 2 Scarlet Medics for the second half of [56] Unfinished Business.
- 30. (51, 28) Return to Kirsta Deepshadow and turn in [56] Unfinished Business. Accept the follow up, also named the same thing: [57] Unfinished Business.
- 31. (57, 35) Up a path in the hills to the east of the main road, you will find Huntsman Radley. Kill her for the first half of [57] Unfinished Business.
- 32. (55, 23) Further up the road, you will find a Scarlet Tower where Cavalier Durgen wanders around. Kill him for the second half of [57] Unfinished Business.
- 33. (55, 23) Climb to the very top of the tower and find a clickable Holy Coffer. Loot it and receive the Mark of the Lightbringer for [58] The So-Called Mark of the Lightbringer.
- 34. (51, 28) Return to Kirsta Deepshadow and turn in [57] Unfinished Business. Skip the follow up quest and then return to the Bulwark. (If you could not find the Wandering Skeleton for step 25, go back to Dalson’s Tears and complete steps 25-27.)
- 35. Once back at the Bulwark, turn in [55] Return to the Bulwark and accept the follow up [55] Target: Writhing Haunt. Also turn in [58] The So-Called Mark of the Lightbringer, but skip the follow up quest.
- 36. (39, 72) Find and mark tower number one for [56] All Along The Watchtowers with the Beacon Torch given to you from the Bulwark. (Be cautious to make sure you are at the proper tower locations for this quest’s steps, as the torch only has 5 charges. If you run out of charges, you will have to drop the quest and accept it again to get a fresh torch!)
- 37. (39, 66) On the northeastern side of Anderhol, find the two story ruined inn and on the second floor is the infamous Chromie. Accept [56] A Matter Of Time from her.
- 38. (42, 65) Find and mark tower two for [56] All Along The Watchtowers. (The torch has a two minute cooldown, which is why it is quicker to do other steps while waiting to use it again instead of marking all four towers at once.)
- 39. (46, 69) The glowing silos needed for [56] A Matter Of Time can be found on the western edge of Anderhol (if a silo is not glowing then someone else might have already ‘used’ it). Right click the Temporal Displacer that Chromie gave you and one or more Temporal Parasites will spawn, which you will have to kill. (If you have a ghoul out, dismiss it or else it will one-shot them and you won’t get credit for the kills!) More waves of worms may spawn after you kill the previous ones, so it is easy to quickly amass the ten required.
- 40. (52, 65) Ride over to the Writhing Haunt where you will find and kill Cauldron Lord Razarch for his Writhing Haunt Cauldron Key. Once you obtain the key, click on the cauldron to turn in [55] Target: Writhing Haunt and accept the follow up [55] Return to the Bulwark.
- 41. (44, 64) Ride back here to find and mark tower three for [56] All Along The Watchtowers.
- 42. (39, 66) Come back to Chromie at the inn and turn in [56] A Matter Of Time. Accept the follow up [56] Counting Out Time.
- 43. (47, 72) Make you way across Anderhol to the south east to find and mark tower four for [56] All Along The Watchtowers.
- 44. As you make your way back across Anderhol, search the ruins for the now-clickable Small Lockboxes. Loot them to receive 5 Andorhal Watches for [56] Counting Out Time.
- 45. (39, 66) Return one last time to Chromie at the ruined inn, and turn in [56] Counting Out Time. Skip the follow up, as it is just a repeating version of the previous quest with a minuscule XP reward. (Say good bye to Chromie, however you may be seeing her again in your future!)
- 46. Return to the Bulwark, where you will turn in [56] All Along The Watchtowers and [55] Return To The Bulwark. Accept the follow up [58] Target: Gahhron’s Withering.
- 47. (62, 58) Ride across the zone once more, to Gahhron’s Withering. As before, find and kill Cauldron Lord Soulwrath, and loot his Gahrron’s Withering Cauldron Key. Use the key on the cauldron to turn in [58] Target: Gahhron’s Withering and accept the follow up [58] Return To The Bulwark.
- 48. Victoriously return for one last time to the Bulwark and turn in [58] Return To The Bulwark. Accept and complete the follow up [58] Mission Accomplished!. You should now be well past friendly with the Argent Dawn. (If you are not, you did something very wrong and you should go AoE grind at Felstone Field or Andorhal until you kill enough to be friendly with them. You will need to be friendly to do the following turn ins.)
- 49. Say good riddance to the Bulwark, and Death Gate back to Archerus: The Ebon Hold. Immediately fly down to Light’s Hope Chapel, which will be the fruit of your labor for grinding Argent Dawn reputation in the Western Plaguelands! The Ebon Hold does not have a mail box, so once at Light’s Hope Chapel, use theirs to pick up the items needed for the following steps and also your Blade of Misfortune (if you obtained one).
- 50. Turn in 2 Thorium Bars, 1 Golden Rod, 8 Hi-Explosive Bombs and 8 Unstable Triggers to Smokey LaRue (80, 58) for [58] That’s Asking A Lot. Skip the follow up.
- 51. Turn in 30 Savage Fronds to Rayne (81, 59) for [60] Savage Flora
- 52. Turn in 30 Crypt Fiend Parts to Huntsman Leopold (81, 58) for [60] Cryptstalker Armor Doesn’t Make Itself….
- 53. Turn in 30 Core Of Elements to Archmage Angela Dosantos (81, 58) for [60] The Elemental Equation.
- 54. Turn in 30 Bone Fragments to Rohan the Assassin (81, 58) for [60] Bonescythe Digs.
- 55. Turn in 30 Dark Iron Scraps to Korfax, Champion of the Light (81, 58) for [60] Binding The Dreadnaught.
- 56. After turning all of above, you should be well over level 60. Death Gate back to Ebon Hold and train your newly acquired level 59-60 spells. Also equip the wondrous Blade of Misfortune if you have it, and don’t forget to runeforge an enchant onto it before you leave.
- 57. Hearth back to the Undercity, and then ride outside and take a zeppelin to Grom’gol.
- 58. From Grom’gol, fly to Stonard in the Swamps of Sorrow and then ride south to the Blasted Lands. (Be sure to pick up your Imperfect Draenethyst Fragment or Flawless Draenethyst Sphere from the Stonard mail box if you collected them beforehand.)
- 59. OPTIONAL: If you were able to obtain either an Imperfect Draenethyst Fragment or a Flawless Draenethyst Sphere beforehand, then turn them in to Kum’isha the Collector (51, 35) for [55] Everything Counts In Large Amounts and [55] To Serve Kum’isha. Skip the follow ups, as they don’t reward XP for the same turn ins.
- 60. Ride down to the Dark Portal and onward to Outland! Congratulations, as you have achieved an incredible amount of XP in a record amount of time, and can now start Hellfire Peninsula’s quests at level 60 instead of 58 like the majority of other Death Knights most likely will! This means that not only will you have a marginally easier time with the enemies and quests in Hellfire Peninsula, but you will also have access level 60 skills like Death & Decay and also 51 point talent points to spend on a max-tier talent tree skill!
V. Speed Leveling Guide – Alliance:
- 1. Finish quests in the initial start zone for Death Knights. After helping to take back the Ebon Hold from the Scourge, you will eventually be forced to take a portal to Stormwind and attempt to get on the now-returned King Varian Wrynn’s good side. After you talk to Wrynn to turn in [55] Where Kings Walk you will be officially done with all of the initial Death Knight quests.OPTIONAL: After the battle for Light’s Hope, you will be offered a choice between two quest rewards: Greataxe of the Ebon Blade or Greatsword of the Ebon Blade.

- 9. Fly to Chillwind Camp at the southern edge of the Western Plaguelands, and find Commander Ashlam Valorfist (42, 84). Turn in [50] A Call To Arms: The Plaguelands! to him and accept the follow up [52] Clear the Way from him. Then find Anchorite Truuen and accept [58] The Mark of the Lightbringer from him. (If he is not around, it’s probably because his follow up is an escort quest, and thus someone might be off escorting him through Sorrow Hill. Try to find him later if you can’t find him now, preferably before step 19.)OPTIONAL: Get and equip an Argent Dawn Commission from Argent Officer Lightspark (42, 83), if you wish to collect scourge stones as you will be slaughtering quite a few undead enemies that will drop them.
- 10. Follow the path just north east of Chillwind Camp to the cemetery of Sorrow Hill. Kill 10 Skeletal Flayers and 10 Slavering Ghouls, and then return to Chillwind Camp.
- 11. Back at Chillwind Camp, turn in [52] Clear the Way and accept [53] The Scourge Cauldrons and [56] All Along the Watchtowers. Then turn in [53] The Scourge Cauldrons to High Priestess MacDonnell (42, 84) on the other side of Chillwind Camp and accept the follow up [53] Target: Felstone Field.
- 12. (37, 57) Ride through Anderhol to Felstone Field, where you will find and kill Cauldron Lord Bilemaw and loot the Felstone Field Cauldron Key. - 15.Hearth back to Stormwind, and find Royal Factor Bathrilor (57, 48) who is on the second floor of the town hall, on the north east corner of Cathedral Square. Turn in [52] Better Late Than Never to him, and accept the follow up [52] Good Natured Emma. Then find Ol’ Emma, who wanders on the Canal Side of the northern edge of the Trade District or on the canal of the southern side of the Cathedral District (approximately 52, 43). Once found, turn in [52] Good Natured Emma to her and accept the follow up [52] Good Luck Charm.
- 16. Either ride the Deeprun Tram or the flightpath from Stormwind to Ironforge. Once there, find Bubulo Acerbus (74, 47) in Tinker Town and turn in [60] A Donation Of Wool Cloth, [60] A Donation of Silk Cloth, [60] A Donation of Mageweave and [60] A Donation Of Runecloth.
- 17. Then find Mistina Steelshield (43, 32) on the north side of the Great Forge. Turn in [60] A Donation Of Wool Cloth, [60] A Donation of Silk Cloth, [60] A Donation of Mageweave and [60] A Donation Of Runecloth.

- 20. (38, 53) Ride back to Felstone Field and turn in [52] Good Luck Charm to Janice Felstone on the second floor of the farm house. Accept the follow up [54] Two Halves Become One.
- 22. (46, 52) Ride over to Dalson’s Tears, and do as you did at Felstone Field by finding and killing Cauldron Lord Malvinious and looting the Dalson’s Tears Cauldron Key. Click on the cauldron to turn in [55] Target: Dalson’s Tears and accept the follow up [55] Return to Chillwind Camp.

Loot it and receive the Mark of the Lightbringer for [58] The Mark of the Lightbringer.
- 34. (51, 28) Return to Kirsta Deepshadow and turn in [57] Unfinished Business. Skip the follow up quest and then return to Chillwind Camp. (If you could not find the Wandering Skeleton for step 25, go back to Dalson’s Tears and complete steps 25-27.)
- 35: Once back at Chillwind Camp, turn in [55] Return to Chilwind Camp and accept the follow up [55] Target: Writhing Haunt. Also turn in [58] The Mark of the Lightbringer, if he is around. (If you can’t find him, then he is off doing the follow up, which is an escort quest. If that is the case, just wait until later to turn this in.)
- 36. OPTIONAL: Accept Anchorite Truuen’s (42, 84) follow up [58] Tomb of the Lightbringer. (This is optional as he may not be around to even turn in the previous quest to, as someone else might be currently escorting him. If this is the case, just wait to do this later or skip it all together.)
- 37. (47, 72) Ride north from Sorrow Hill into Anderhol. Find and mark tower four for [56] All Along The Watchtowers with the Beacon Torch given to you from Chillwind Camp. (Be cautious to make sure you are at the proper tower locations for this quest’s steps, as the torch only has 5 charges. If you run out of charges, you will have to drop the quest and accept it again to get a fresh torch!)
- 38. (39, 66) On the northeastern side of Anderhol, find the two story ruined inn and on the second floor is the infamous Chromie. Accept [56] A Matter Of Time from her.
- 39. (42, 65) Find and mark tower two for [56] All Along The Watchtowers. (The torch has a two minute cooldown, which is why it is quicker to do other steps while waiting to use it again instead of marking all four towers at once.)
- 41. (52, 65) Ride over to the Writhing Haunt where you will find and kill Cauldron Lord Razarch for his Writhing Haunt Cauldron Key. Once you obtain the key, click on the cauldron to turn in [55] Target: Writhing Haunt and accept the follow up [55] Return to Chillwind Camp.
- 42. (44, 64) Ride back here to find and mark tower three for [56] All Along The Watchtowers.
- 43. (39, 66) Come back to Chromie at the inn and turn in [56] A Matter Of Time. Accept the follow up [56] Counting Out Time.
- 44. Search the ruins for the now-clickable Small Lockboxes. Loot them to receive 5 Andorhal Watches for [56] Counting Out Time.
- 45. (39, 72) On the south-west side of Andorhal, find and mark tower four for [56] All Along The Watchtowers.
- 46. (39, 66) Return one last time to Chromie at the ruined inn, and turn in [56] Counting Out Time. Skip the follow up, as it is just a repeating version of the previous quest with a minuscule XP reward. (Say good bye to Chromie, however you may be seeing her again in your future!)
- 47. Return to Chillwind Camp, where you will turn in [56] All Along The Watchtowers, [58] Tomb of the Lightbringer (if you did it), and [55] Return To Chillwind Camp. Accept the follow up [58] Target: Gahhron’s Withering.
- 48. (62, 58) Ride across Sorrow Hill and Andorhal once more, to Gahhron’s Withering. As before, find and kill Cauldron Lord Soulwrath, and loot his Gahrron’s Withering Cauldron Key. Use the key on the cauldron to turn in [58] Target: Gahhron’s Withering and accept the follow up [58] Return To Chillwind Camp.
- 49. Victoriously return for one last time to Chillwind Camp and turn [58] Return To Chillwind Camp. Accept and complete the follow up [58] Mission Accomplished!. You should now be well past friendly with the Argent Dawn. (If you are not, you did something very wrong and you should go AoE grind at Andorhal until you kill enough to be friendly with them. You will need to be friendly to do the following turn ins.)
- 50. Say good riddance to Chillwind Camp and Death Gate back to Archerus: The Ebon Hold.
- 51. Turn in 2 Thorium Bars, 1 Golden Rod, 8 Hi-Explosive Bombs and 8 Unstable Triggers to Smokey LaRue (80, 58) for [58] That’s Asking A Lot. Skip the follow up.
- 52. Turn in 30 Savage Fronds to Rayne (81, 59) for [60] Savage Flora
- 53. Turn in 30 Crypt Fiend Parts to Huntsman Leopold (81, 58) for [60] Cryptstalker Armor Doesn’t Make Itself….
- 54. Turn in 30 Core Of Elements to Archmage Angela Dosantos (81, 58) for [60] The Elemental Equation.
- 55. Turn in 30 Bone Fragments to Rohan the Assassin (81, 58) for [60] Bonescythe Digs.
- 56. Turn in 30 Dark Iron Scraps to Korfax, Champion of the Light (81, 58) for [60] Binding The Dreadnaught.
- 57. After turning all of above, you should be well over level 60. Death Gate back to Ebon Hold and train your newly acquired level 59-60 spells. Also equip the wondrous Blade of Misfortune if you have it, and don’t forget to runeforge an enchant onto it before you leave.
- 58. Hearth back to Stormwind, and fly down to Nethergarde Keep in the Blasted Lands. (Be sure to pick up your Imperfect Draenethyst Fragment or Flawless Draenethyst Sphere from the Stonard mail box if you collected them beforehand. Also, pick up a Nethergarde Bitter for [62] Gaining Mirren’s Trust, which is later in Hellfire Peninsula.)
Last Updated 10/27/2008 – Dhannek.
Cataclysm Update NeededThis will shortly be outdated, since most of these quests will be gone when Cataclysm is released. If anyone would like to adopt this guide and update it, let me know. Otherwise, when Cataclysm comes out, it will be moved to the archive section.
I recommend going to ‘FileI recommend going to ‘File Attachments’ and un-check all images that are ‘listed’.
This way you won’t have a long list of images at the end of your guide :).
A little extra expIf you do decide to use the Argent Dawn commission to collect stones, keep your first Valor Token, and turn it in to the Dispatch Commander left of the Chapel, for an extra ~5k exp and a bigger rep boost than using the token straight up.
Of course it’s ok to link toOf course it’s ok to link to my guides 🙂
I wish you luck on the leveling. Seems like a fun idea, the Frost/Blood/Unholy combo. With all 3 auras it should be interesting 🙂
I’d skip instances if I were you and just go through my whole outland guide up until the very last Netherstorm circuit. That should get you all 3 level 70 for sure.
3DKs from 55-70Hi there
The guide looks awesome.
2 of my friends + myself are going to follow this and then head straight to outland. We’re wondering how fast the 3 of us can power level to 70 to catch up with the rest of the guild. Our prepartions can be found at http://dkhavok.wordpress.com/
And I’ve linked to your guide from there if that is ok?
We’ll be updating our progress with screenshots and times.
Hopefully the Unholy/Blood/Frost combo with the 3 of us will work? Any recommendations on instances?
Wow, I read the first 10Wow, I read the first 10 replies in that thread and facepalmed myself
I can’t believe people still think going to Hellfire at 58 is a super cool idea, when you get just as much XP/hour in Plaguelands and then when you go to Hellfire with a higher level you just blaze through the quests with much more ease.
Anyway, good for people who will follow our guides, they won’t have to fight for spawns against those bright individuals 😛
I guess you should stick to posting your guides here Dhannek, people will do them justice.
Amazing guideThank you very very much for this guide, undoubtedly it will be amazingly fast but ez as well.
Secondly it was a horrible idea to post it on mmo-champion lol. All the people there are ignorant noobs ><
I’d need to do some testsI’d need to do some tests for that, but I’d bet executioner would be best.
This has allready postedThis has allready posted somewhere else, but I cant find the post atm, so I will just repeat his words. He included going to Ungore and deliver the 7 of each crystals + going to the towers. Then heading to silithus and delivering 2x 10 twilight texts and 1x abyssal crest. Im heading of to lecture, so no time to find his post now.
Lots of pre-farmed experience to gain.As Shikamaru said above, giving up on 83500 experience sounds a bit sad when you can prepare it. If I got it right, all the hand-ins that you can prepare will give around 128000 experience in total. That’s about half a level that you’ve prepared before starting your character. (Sure, you still have to do the travelling, but it’ll still be a fast level.)
— For Gnomeregan, Pony and Cookies!! —
The best of the best? Was also thinking about enchanting it beforehand. So speaking of that, which enchant would you say is THE best weapon enchant for a Death Knight? Executioner? Moongoose? Something else?
— For Gnomeregan, Pony and Cookies!! —
Flippin flawlessFlipplin flawless guide, Dhannek!!
The added pics, intro etc since last I read it over really makes it astounding ^^. Since you’re getting a lotta praise already; I’ll just cut to the question: you mention “The Death Knight Level 60-70 Ultimate Shopping List” — is that the same list that Jame has, the “DK Shopping list (55-70), or is it some more juicy info you’re gonna share with us?
Thanks!
Same on my server
What ISame on my server 😉
What I did was just farm all the cloth.
I’ve completed the farming now, and my bags are full with all sorts of cloth, hehe.
I would really recommend this, it’s not that much work, and it would be a pity to throw that XP away, wouldn’t it! 😉
Hmm well, it depends on yourHmm well, it depends on your finances I guess. Executioner most definitely is a better enchant than what you can get with runeforging at this level. However, you won’t keep that blade of misfortune for long, you’ll already replace it somewhere in Nagrand, and believe me you get there real quick when following my guides with the new exp curve change for 60-70.
But if you got plenty of cash to spend, go for it :p
I just bought a Blade ofI just bought a Blade of Misfortune for my future Deathknight and i was wondering if it was worth putting a high-end enchant on it, such as Executioner. Will it be worth the additional killing power or should i juct rune it?
Very well done!I’m looking forward to use this for my Death knight, seems like it will go pretty damn fast to get to 60 following this guide…
Only thing that bugs me is that the prices on cloth on my server have gone through the roof (many who check out this site perhaps…?) and I’m too lazy to farm it all – but I got all the LHC turn in items at least, so even though I’ll most likely skip the cloth turn ins, I’ll be pretty close to 60 once I’m finished with the rest of the guide 🙂
I’m a bit curious of what build you would use for leveling though, but judging by Jame’s work it seems Unholy is the way to go – unless the trees get some changes before launch.
Very well done both of you, Jame and Dhannek, now it seeems like the biggest problem I will have when leveling my NE Death knight will be coming up with a name for her!
Doh!I seen that you hadnt done the alliance version of the guide and did one myself! And now you’ve done it! Oh well atleast i wont have to finish it now, thanks Dhannek(?) this will come in handy as i have never gone to outlands before 60 and dont want to start now!
300 is enough300 is enough, since you are turning them in at the Major Cities.
Take a look at these:
A Donation of Wool
A Donation of Silk
etcetra.
Example:
60 Wool Cloth x 5 Major Cities = 300 Wool Cloth
I’m a little confused aboutI’m a little confused about the Required Materials like runecloth etc. Do I only need 300 total or should I collect as much of the turn-ins as possible now?
To tell you the truth,To tell you the truth, rerrolling horde with my Deathknight was my first intention. But all my other toons are alliance, and I would not be able to do any preparation for the new char if I choose to pick up an orc or a tauren, or give him any money… I’ve ended up with the more confortable choice.
On a side note, really nice banner dude!
If you are Scryer, you canIf you are Scryer, you can turn in the +aldor quest for a one shot bonus of 10000xp. It’s only -250 rep or something, which is worth the quick xp.
My mistake ><Lol, I got mixed up — didn’t realize that the faction swapping turn ins are unavalible if you are that faction already. You’re correct, sir.
That’s the point.That’s the point.
I think you got something mixed up?Hey Dran, I think there’s a typo in your guide.
Under the XP turn ins for Aldor and Scryer you have “Dampscale Basilisk Eye” under Aldor, and “Dreadfang Venom Sac” under Scryer — I think they should be swapped, based off the reputation they give. However, it would be possible for players to turn in four quests that give +Scryer rep, then do a turn in of Dreadfang Venom Sacs to give the 11000 XP gain with a -250 Scryer rep penalty.
Otherwise, I’m in awe of the detail and wealth of knowledge contained in this short post, eagerly anticipating the Alliance version 😀
Crazy :jawdrop: This guide was very detailed and will help me much with my deathknight, i already started farming the materials for all of those turn-ins; I never even THOUGHT of them before, haha. Thank you much 😛
Don’t tempt me to not finishDon’t tempt me to not finish it then by saying it would make one less person out there be on alliance!
Also I’ll have it done tonight. I redid and cleaned up the whole guide, so I have to redo my numbered maps.
alliance guide!Cool work Dhannek.
You better finish up the alliance part, or I’ll have to roll a horde deathknight!
Nice, now I won’t have toNice, now I won’t have to bother adding that to my guide ^^
Heavy Runecloth Bandages! They fixed it so all new DKs start with the ability to make Heavy Runecloth bandages, thus avoiding having to fly to Arathi/Theramore to learn it from the level 35 quest! Score!
I edited those parts out now!
That’s quite good! I’mThat’s quite good! I’m impressed 🙂
A little suggestion if I may:
Remove Necklace of Trophies from the list, because around level 67 you can already get Natasha’s Choker from a quest in BEM.
Also a typo I noticed:
Ardent Dawn, should be Argent Dawn.
Anyway, please keep it up, it looks amazingly useful so far!
