| Pre Raid Gear - Mage (Frost)
4 Average: 4 (6 votes) I needed to make a list of items I was going to try and get to gear myself up for 25 man raids, so I figured I would post it here so that everone can benifit from my work. These are not the "best in slot" items by anymeans, they are just the best items I could find out side of 10 / 25 mans and items I feel I can obtain in a relativelty short amount of time. I have tried to steer away from too many "get exhaulted with X" items but the're are still a few, as really you should be running heroics when gearing up so you may as well be gaining rep at the same time! Hope some people find this of use, I am more then happy to add / amend the list if people can suggest better / alternative items. Head
Off Hand
Hope you have enjoyed reading through my sugestions, the list is not completly finished yet as i still need to add some information to some of the items, and as i said earlier, if there is any suggestions to other items, let me know and ill add them to the list. Thanks Anti... P.S. Will update with these things over the next couple of days

Suggestions
That's a pretty nice list. EJ has a similar thread and most of the items match. Some comments though:
For the neck slot, Titanium Spellshock Necklace is better, especially when you're near the hit cap.
For the shouldres, Dark Runic Mantle is also better. It is a BoE drop from Halls of Stone, so it can usually be found on the AH for a decent price.
For the wrists, Azure Cloth Bindings are better too. They drop from Cyanigosa, the final boss in VH heroic.
Also, once you reach the hit cap the T7 parts that you can buy with badges are superior to the Ebonweave items.
Finally, you left out the wand
I would recommend either Rod of the Fallen Monarch or Wand of the San'layn.

Looks nice
It looks really nice, though I can't check because I'm not very experienced in mage raiding.
) can tell you how to do it.
One small suggestion though, you could format the text so that epic items are written in purple like in Jiramby's resto druid guide. It is more easy to find the best items this way. I'm sure he (sorry, she
Good plan, will look at that

Lol, honj93.
The code I use is really simple, I just use [ color=blue ] and [ color=purple ]. It's not *exactly* the right colors for rare and epic items, but it's close enough and I don't have to muck about with RGB colors finding the right shade.

Unless I'm smoking
Unless I'm smoking something, Kostada already wrote a guide on this. But anyways, I'll give you a couple suggestions.
Other than that, good guide
Yes Kostada has already
Yes Kostada has already writen a similar guide but that was for gearing for heroics, i saw this as the natural next step, and like i said, i was going to be making a list for myself so i might as well share!(didn't mean to step on your toes Kostada, sorry if i did =) )
Ill look into adding the gems and i think i might look and enchats too, however i was not planning on talking about builds / rotations as this was really focused on gear.
Thanks for the input

As said
As said before this is a Pre raid guide and the one Kostada wrote is a pre Heroic guide so in basic you can use the guide Kostada wrote then use this. About gems and rotation I agree that it would help a whole lot since your dps depends to 75% on specc and rotation in my opinion.

Maybe remove...
Would suggest removing the Trinket: Flow of Knowledge. Since it's totally useless to have Resilience while raiding. My favourite two is "Forge Ember" and "Sundial of the Exiled". Well depending on specc but the easiest specc to start raiding with is frostfire in my opinion. The gear you get will quite much make you get to the Hit cap (maximum Hit rating that will improve the %, after that it wont make a difference how much more hit you get) which is 17% not totaly certain about it but I got around 355 (around 13% + 3% from Frost Talants. The 3% from frost don't show when you check you hit rating but it's there. )Hit rating and don't really need more for Heroic (25 man) Naxxramas. This gear would make you end up around 408 Hit rating without gems and enchants and not having Mark of the war prisoner as trinket.
I've also done some research for arcane specc to and it seams like this gear isn't very well suited for that since you need a very high mana regen while in combat. (What I've heard from other mages around 900+ Mana per 5 seconds is a minimum for not going out of mana on boss fights.)
If you planing on getting this gear I would suggest stacking up Spell Power and Critt if your a fire mage and as arcane I'm not very certain this gear would work at all.
ps. All of this is from my own and other mages from my guilds experience so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the input, and
Thanks for the input, and yes maybe i should state that this was aimed mainly at the Frost tree as thats how im currently spec'd.(still in leveling / grinding spec at the moment) And this list was not really meant to be a be all and end all but more of a list of things to look out for, so thats why if you got Everything, yep you probably will be over on you Hit. I put down as much hit gear as possible as i find it seems a bit harder to find and it is the best stat to stack until capped for dps increase, but you are totally correct, if you had all of the gear you would be over.
As for the Trinket: Flow of Knowledge, i just put that down as it seemed like an easy trinket to get while gearing up, but i think it might be a bit confusing so i'll remove it =)
Thanks

The title of the page needs to be capitalized.
Anyway, good job
Thanks =) Title changed, and
Thanks =)
Title changed, and yep, was trying to keep a "universal" feel to the guide and keep it consistent =p
(and also stole the images to save me having to upload another set to the site =P) so thanks to murphyslaw(Best items outside of raids for Balance Druids) who i stole them from!

Isn't your guide a
Isn't your guide a pre-heroic gear list while this is a pre-raid gear list. While they may share some items I doubt that everything is equal, and neither list takes away from the usefulness of the other.
