Guides about tradeskills, professions and gathering skills (recipes, vendors, skill-ups).
Informations concerning more than one Tradeskill/Profession or Gathering Skill. Written by the wow-pro community.
Alright, will try to compose a list over the different Merchants who sells rare/limited Tradeskill recipes. Please post Location, Name and Price for the recipes. Will add updates to the Thread as more info rolls in.
NOTEI'm currently playing an ALLIANCE character, so some of these might NOT be available to Horde. If you are a Horde player and knows a faction NPC that sells the below, please post and i'll add it right away, Thanks.
Blacksmithing
Engineering
Tailoring
Leatherworking
Enchanting
Alchemy
Posts below with additional info will be added to main thread.
The purpose of this isn't to create another farming thread but to allow people a fair chance to get the recipes without having to go through overpriced Auction House farmers.
In advance, Thank you.

Guides about Alchemy and Herbalism.
The goal of this guide is to create a seamless and efficient route to leveling Alchemy in the Wrath of the Lich King from 375 to 450.
This guide is not created like many profession guides. It is not a linear list of what to create at what skill points. Instead it will give several different options at each skill level so that you can choose what path is more efficient for you. What is more efficient leveling wise will vary from player to player depending on the availability of certain herbs on the auction house, and the random luck of farming.
All recipes included in the guide are trainable from the Alchemy Trainers in Northrend.
If you find any errors (typographical or logical) or have any suggestions for improving this guide please comment below.
375-380
Lesser Flask of Toughness (Deadnettle x4, Goldclover, Imbued Vial)
380-385

Elixir of Mighty Thoughts (Deadnettle x2, Talandra's Rose, Imbued Vial)
Indestructible Potion (Icethorn x2, Imbued Vial)

410-430
Indestructible Potion (Icethorn x2, Lichbloom, Imbued Vial)
Runic Mana Potion (Lichbloom x2, Goldclover, Imbued Vial)
Both recipes turn yellow at 415 and green at 422. Despite this, they remain the best options for leveling at these skill points.
430-435
Transmute: Earthsiege Diamond (Dark Jade, Huge Citrine, Eternal Fire)
Transmute: Skyflare Diamond (Bloodstone, Chalcedony, Eternal Air)
435-450

Flask of Stoneblood (Lichbloom x7, Crystallized Life x3, Frost Lotus, Enchanted Vial)
Sorry for any inconvenience but this guide is outdated and due be removed; it was written when I was much younger then I am now and without much thought.

Artisan Herbs
Thanks to Avalin for submitting this guide
The goal of this guide is to create a seamless and efficient route to leveling Herbalism.
This guide gives a general outline and suggestion for what herbs to pick to efficiently level skill up and where those herbs are best found. A flying mount (preferably epic) will make this process much faster for circuits in Outland and Northrend, but is not required. The number included in parentheses after each individual herb is the skill level required to collect that herb.
Collect every single herb that you find that can possibly give a skill level. Collecting yellow and green level herbs is not a waste of time and help level more quickly.
1-50
Circuits around any of the starting areas to collect Peacebloom (1), Silverleaf
(1), and Earthroot (15). If your collecting in Eversong Woods, you also have Bloodthistle (1). However, don't go out of your way to Eversong Woods because it has the same number of herb spawns as any other zone. In addition, Bloodthistle neither sells well or is used for Alchemy.
50-100
Horde and Alliance both do circuits in their 10-20 zones to collect Mageroyal (50), Briarthorn (70), and the earlier mentioned herbs. For Alliance, Darkshore is a good choice because its compact area makes finding herbs easier. Horde, if its not too crowded, should gather in The Barrens.
100-115
Circuits to collect Bruiseweed (100). Best choices are Stonetalon Mountains, Southern Barrens (for Horde), and Ashenvale. If these spots are crowded, Alliance can farm the outside perimeter of Twilight Grove in Duskwood. These herbs often spawn close to cliffsides, like mining nodes.
115-125
Circuits to collect Wild Steelbloom (115). Best choices are the perimeter of Arathi Highlands (even for Alliance). Another good spot is the northern perimeter and entire southern part of Stranglethorn Vale, but be heads up as its still a hotspot for PVP servers.
125-160
Similar circuits to collect both Kingsblood (125) and Liferoot (150). Good choices are Stranglethorn Vale, Wetlands and Stonetalon Mountains (specifically in the Charred Vale).
160-210
Circuits to collect Fadeleaf (160), Goldthorn (170), and Khadgar's Whisker (185). Best choices are Swamp of Sorrows (focusing towards the perimeter), Northern Stranglethorn Vale, Feralas and Dustwallow Marsh. 160-170 make take a little longer than usual because Fadeleaf doesn't have as many spawn nodes as is typical.
210-230
Simply farm Purple Lotus (210) in The Hinterlands at Jintha'Alor. Anyplace else is a waste of time comparatively.
230-250
Expand your circuits to include the entirety of the Hinterlands to pick up Sungrass (230). Continue to hit Jintha'Alor every 10-15 minutes to pick all the Purple Lotus spawns.
250-260
Circuits around Felwood picking everything and anything your skill will allow you. Available should be Gromsblood (250), Sungrass, and Arthas' Tears (220).
260-300
300-325
Circuits around Hellfire Peninsula to collect Felweed (300) and Dreaming Glory (315). Dreaming Glory is found primarily around cliffsides, similar to where mining nodes would be found. Both of these herbs spawn all over the Outlands so continue to collect them as you see them later in the guide.
325-350
Circuits around Zangarmarsh to collect Ragveil (325) and Flame Caps (335). You can also do circuits around the northern part of Terrokar Forest for Terocone (325).
350-385
Circuits around any zone in Northrend to collect Goldclover (350). Goldclover spawn in every zone in Northrend, so simply do circuits around whatever zone best fits your level. Also keep in mind what zones on your server are typically busiest and stay away from those.
385-400
Circuits around Zul'Drak to collect Talandra's Rose (385).
400-425
Circuits around Sholazar Basin to collect Tiger Lily (375) and Adder's Tongue (400). Tiger Lily is found around any source of water, such as streams, coastlines and lakes.
425-450
Circuits around Stormpeaks to collect Lichbloom (425) and Icethorn (435). Both of these herbs can also be found in Icecrown, depending on how busy each respective zone is.
Introduction
First of all I would like to say that this is my first guide, so any comments on how to improve it would be great. I would also like to add that I am no expert, and have only been playing WoW for about 4 months. This circuit is something that I have developed over the past month.
Requirements
You must have these listed below
Gatherer
This is neat little program which remembers where you have picked up herbs and nodes. It records them on your map and you can also display them on your HUD. I cannot EXAGGERATE how good this addon is. ALSO it can allow you to gather both nodes and herbs at the same time (once you have gathered information on the location of the nodes and herbs
The FULL Circuit
This is the full circuit and will take approximately about 45 mins.
If you follow this circuit you should end up with (approximately)
Prices taken from my server.
Minimum profit = (3x25g) + (3x40g) + (3x15g) + (4x30g)
Total = 360g
Maximum profit = (5x25g) + (5x40g) + (5x15g) + (6x30g)
Total = 580g
Sweet profit eh?
The EXPRESS Circuit
This is the express circuit and will take approximately 20-25 mins.
If you follow this circuit you should end up with (approximately)
Again, the prices are taken from my server.
Minimum profit = (2x25g) + (2x40g) + (2x15g) + (3x30g)
Total = 250g
Maximum profit = (3x25g) + (3x40g) + (3x15g) + (4x30g)
Total = 360g
Not bad for 25 mins work?
Herb Locations
Just if you’re interested here is ALL the herbs I have collected and recorded over the last month.
Pointers
Rounding up
So if you want to get up to 580g for only 45 minutes work then leveling up herbalism is well worth it. This is the amount you can earn with ONLY herbalism. Imagine the profit you could acquire with mining or alchemy as well.
Thanks for reading please leave any comments below.
Hi I am writing a guide for Alchemy because I think it is very important. Making potions could help you all the way to 80 if you play your cards right! But enough of me talking...
You should have Apprentice Alchemy
1. 1-60 = you will need to make 59 x Minor Healing
Potions.(If your not made of money, its alright, just
Pick up Herbalism or ask a friend that does Herbalism)
To make 59 x Minor Healing Potions you will need
59 x Peacebloom; 59 x silverleaf and 59 x Empty Vial
That should take you to 60! Good Job so Far, go learn
Journeyman Alchemy.
2. 60-140 = You will need to make 50 x Lesser Healing
Potion. If you have 50 of the Minor Healing Potions from
the first step you should be good. You will need 50 of
those potions and 50 x Briarthorn. You might be going
crazy your not done with Journeyman yet, Well its ok you
will need to make 30 x Healing Potion with 30 Bruiseweed,
30 Briarthorn, and 30 Leaded Vials.
Now on we go with Expert...
3. 140-210 = First off we will be making 15 Lesser Mana
Potions with 15 x Mageroyal, 15 x strangekelp, and 30 x
Empty Vial. Next we will be making 30 x Greater Healing
Potions - the ingredients are 30 x Liferoot,Kingsblood
,and Leaded Vials. And Last for Expert you will make
Elixir of Agility: with 25 x Strangekelp, 25 Goldthorn,
and 25 Leaded Vial.
4. 210-285 = Make 5 of Elixir of Greater Defense with 5
Steelbloom, 5 Goldthorn, and 5 Leaded Vial. Next 15 x
Superior Healing Potion - 15 Sungrass, 15 Khadgar's
Whisker and 15 Crystal Vial. ok this is one you will need
for Transmutes. 1 x [Philosopher's Stone] by
4 Iron Bar, 1 Black Vitriol, 4 Purple Lotus, 4 Firebloom.
Now you will make 19 x [Elixir of Detect Undead] with
19 Arthas' Tears, 19 Crystal Vial. We are almost done with
Artisan. 15 x [Elixir of Greater Agility] - 15 Sungrass,
15 Goldthorn, 15 Crystal Vial, and last step for Artisan

Guides about Blacksmithing and Mining.
Like any profession there are always difficulties entailed. This guide was created using the current patch notes, level ranges provided by wowhead, and several testers of my previous guide Blacksmithing 1 to 300. I'm always looking for help and suggestions to find good ways to smooth out things based on availability and material costs.

As of Patch 3.0.3 There were a few changes to Blacksmithing to try and help level things out and make the last few steps to 300 a bit easier. The Thorium Armor set is a set of patterns that are uncommon world drops that has become a trainable pattern. They can currently be found on any Artisan Blacksmithing Trainer for both factions.
I've removed all world drop and quest patterns from the current list and left only one pattern that must obtained through a vendor. The Mithril Scale Bracers pattern can only be bought from two vendors, one for each faction and is carried in limited supply. Alliance will find Haggran in Aerie Peak and Horde will find Gharash in Stonard. Beyond this one pattern the rest of the guide is pretty much a running game for materials from your choice of sources and the trainers. Below is a full list of the materials you will need if you want to do this all in one sitting.

With the release of Wrath we saw a bit of a change for Blacksmithing in the 350 to 375 range. Instead of having you start crafting at the top of the previous end game as they did with the release of Burning Crusade, Wrath has you starting at 350. This range was the end game items for the blacksmithing profession in which a lot of crafted items became difficult to gather materials. This time around that gap was eliminated by the Grand Master range of items. So in an effort to make this step of the guide smooth I have worked those items into this section.
Again I've minimized the patterns for this section to mostly trainer taught items. For the Master blacksmithing range you'll only need to purchase two patterns; Plans: Adamantite Plate Bracers and Plans: Adamantite Breastplate. These patterns are sold by their respective faction vendors; Krek Cragcrush is located in Shadowmoon Village, Shadowmoon Valley (29, 30) and Loolruna is located in Telredor, Zangarmarsh (68, 50).
In the Grand Master range you'll be farming for a pair of patterns that are bind on pickup. These patterns as far as I can tell are likely only attainable by blacksmiths as all previous BOP patterns have been. I chose two patterns based on the levels of the mobs should anyone choose to do this while leveling their character instead of waiting till level 80 as I tend to do. First, Plans: Reinforced Cobalt Shoulders can be found on Onslaught Masons level 72 to 73 in Lights Trust, Dragonblight (Northwest Quadrant). Next, Plans: Reinforced Cobalt Chestpiece can be found on Venture Co. Excavator level range 75 to 76 north of the Suntouched Pillar, Sholazar Basin.
Most of the 350 to 450 section should be pretty easy until you get to Daunting Legplates. There is NOTHING from 435 to 440 that isn't green in skill level. So I've listed the bare minimum amount of materials to meet the goal of 440. Its not going to be fun getting that last 5 points to get the last 10 points. There is nothing from 440 to 450 that does not require Titansteel bars. Smelting Titansteel bars has a 20 hour cooldown, so if you plan to buy these bars prepare to spend a lot of gold.

Thats all folks! Please feel free to comment and help me out so if you see any ways to smooth out any part of this guide, and thanks again!
Like any profession there are always difficulties entailed. I've found that Engineering and Blacksmithing are the two hardest professions for myself. After searching for a blacksmithing guide I've found very little in the way of helpful content. I first based this guide off of information gathered from www.wowhead.com using the updated level ranges for professions. I'm looking for feedback to see if there are any possible ways to smooth it out or if there are better options because of material costs.

I've tried to minimize the materials and patterns involved based on availability. Most of the stuff in the guide until you hit 215 you will learn from a trainer. I tried to avoid as many world drop patterns as possible, but there weren't many options outside of the ones that I did choose.
First item that you can't receive from a trainer are the Mithril Scale Bracers pattern. This pattern can only be bought from two vendors, one for each faction and is carried in limited supply. Alliance will find Haggran in Aerie Peak and Horde will find Gharash in Stonard.
Lastly are the Imperial Plate items, they can only be received from a quest line found in Gadgetzan, Tanaris by speaking with Derotain Mudsipper who will offer you the opening quest called A Blue Light Bargain. You must be level 50+ and have a Blacksmithing skill of 265+ to start the Imperial Plate Armor chain. After which time Derotain will offer the quest aptly named Imperial Plate Boots and Imperial Plate Bracers, in return for a small pittance of Thorium he will offer you Pattern: Imperial Plate Boots and Pattern: Imperial Plate Bracers as a reward.
-- Alternate Ending --
Since the Thorium Armor set is now trainable it might be advisable to make Thorium Bracers/Belt until 280 and make Thorium Boots or Thorium Helm until 300. Thorium Helm in my opinion might be a better option due to the availability of Star Rubies earned during your mining, however my blacksmith is also a jewel crafter and I have have an inordinate number of star rubies just lying around.

Well I'm back! Strange times these are, but never the less I'll once against bestow you with the enlightenment of the blacksmith!
As requested by Arunsun amoung others, I'll try to elaborate the whole "Dark Iron" secret.
Part 1: What is Dark Iron, and where can it be found?
Part 2: How do I get the Smelting: Dark Iron skill?
Part 3: How to: Mine Dark Iron Ore, Smelt Dark Iron?
Part 4: How to forge Dark Iron items?
Part 5: And last but not least, The Map!
Part 1:
What is Dark Iron, and where can it be found?
Originally Dark Iron was the material of the third Dwarf Nation, which is now known as the Dark Iron Dwarves. It is the essence of the Blackrock Mountain and therefore can be found in Blackrock Depths and Molten Core, After patch 1.8 Blizzard added Dark Iron nodes in Searing Gorge. These ore's are extreamly rare and must be harvested in masses to make an actual product. This is a painstaggering and longdrawn quest, but in the end you will end up some of the most-wanted items, such as one of the two known Legendary weapons discovered. However it cannot be found in the Blackrock Spire (L & U)
But enough with all the babble.
How do I get the Smelting: Dark Iron skill?
Grab a pen and paper cause this one is tricky.
You'll need the following components;
20 Gold Bars
10 Truesilver Bars
2 Star Rubies
Next Step;
Go deep into the Blackrock Depths, fight your way to the chamber of the Seven (If you do not know what this is, it is the chamber where you will have to fight the Seven Dark Iron Dwarf ghosts, also the place where the Chest of the Seven is located).
Now BEFORE you trigger the event that'll cause the 7 ghosts to attack you, speak to Gloom'rel, he's the second ghost on the right as you enter the room. He'll demand a sacrifice of the above mentioned items before he'll teach you the skill. Once you have donated the items and learned the skill, you can proceed as you desire.
How to: Mine Dark Iron Ore, Smelt Dark Iron
To mine the Dark Iron veins you'll need a Mining skill of minimum 230. As you advance in BRD (BlackRock Depths), MC (Molten Core) and Searing Gorge, the Dark Iron Ore veins will apear on your minimap like any other vein.
This guide; http://www.koden.org/wow/dark_iron_ore_mining_guide.php - Will show you how to farm Dark Iron most effeciently if you have the aid of a level 60 Rogue/Druid. (Note: The guide provided by this link is *NOT* written by me and belongs to owner of www.Koden.org)
And now to the smelting part:
Once you have aquired the skill to smelt Dark Iron Ore's, there's a few things you need to keep in mind.
A) You can ONLY smelt Dark Iron at the Dark Iron Forge INSIDE the Blackrock Depths instance
B) it takes SIX Dark Iron Ore's to make one Dark Iron Bar (So just forget about making the Dark Iron Hammer)
How to get to the Dark Iron Forge:
You'll need to fight your way through most of the Blackrock Depths instance, right untill the Bridge which leads to the Molten Core portal. There, after the Chamber of the Seven, there'll be a crossing. To your right, the MC portal, and infront of you the door that'll lead you to the end of the instance. Inbetween those who there's a bath running behind the back pillar of the bridge. There, sticking out of the lava waterfall, is the Dark Iron Forge, guarded by a single Fire Elemental. Once you stand infront of it you can smelt all you want to.
How to forge Dark Iron items
Once you have the materials for the item you want to create (also including the recipe) You'll need to go back to the very start of the instance. Instead of heading for the Chamber of the Seven, head to Lord Incendeous. This elemental boss guards the Dark Iron Forge, and you simply can't miss it, It's gigantic. Once you have cleared Lord Incendeous and are free of all mobs, you can begin the crafting.
And last but not least, The Map!
http://wow.52pk.net/map_52pk/fuben/Blackrock_Depths.jpg
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gee's that was alot of things!
Yup, it's complicated I know, so I'll sumerise the key things.
1) Blacksmithing 230
2) 10 Truesilver Bars, 2 Star Rubies, 20 Gold Bars.
3) Map over Blackrock Depths
4) Re-Read or/and Print this guide.
5) 6 Dark Iron Ore's = 1 Dark Iron Bar
7) If mining in Searing Gorge, do it when there's not alot of people around. Mining Dark Iron while there's too many people about searching for the same is just a waste of time in my oppinion.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The End! Enjoy.
~ Yours, Groktal. (Gee it's good to be back
)
Notes: I deliberately left out the Dark Iron Faction = Thorium Brotherhood, in this thread. It is a different part and much, much, much more complicated. I will however try to write a somewhat comprehensible guide on it in due time.
(First post, introduction will follow)
So, the new armor set aye? The Imperial Plate Armor. Every tankers dream. Problem is just, it does take quite a large amount of Thorium, and Star Ruby's aswell.
I'll add the list over total components, bonus's, skill reg's and level reg's.
And having a full set myself, i can say that just because its STR/STA based only, dosn't mean it can't look good. cause damn, you look like a Real Knight in shining Armor ((Metallic-grey/Blue shades)) Even on orcs *snickers*
Total List of Thorium needed to get all the recipes:
Bracers - 20 Thorium Bar's (BS:270) Level Reg: 49
Belt - 20 Thorium Bar's (BS:265) Level Reg: 47
Shoulders - 20 Thorium Bar's (BS:265) Level Reg: 47
Boots - 40 Thorium Bar's (BS:295) Level Reg: 54
Helm - 50 Thorium Bar's (BS:295) Level Reg: 54
Chest - 60 Thorium Bar's (BS:300) Level Reg: 55
Leggings - 60 Thorium Bar's (BS:300) Level Reg: 56
Total component list for All recipe's: 270 Thorium Bar's
----------------------------------------
Total component list for manifacture:
Thorium Bar's - 218
Star Ruby's - 8
Citrine's - 2
Rugged Leather - 12
Aquamarine's - 2
----------------------------------------
Total Set Bonus:
2 pieces: +100 Armor.
4 pieces: +28 Attack Power.
6 pieces: +18 Stamina.
Total Stats Bonus:
Armor: 2809
Stamina: 94
Strength: 100
----------------------------------------
So in conclution, if you want the full armor set (which not only looks great but will add a load of DPS/HP to your group tank) you'll need:
488 Bar's in total.
Hope you have enjoyed the first of the "Blacksmithing 101" and I hope to write a couple more of 'em, and ofcause add my 2 cent's of knowledge.
- yours, Groktal
So, i'm going to torture you with a little... a litte look into the Legendary weapon; Sulfuras, the hand of Ragnaros.
So far, it's the only Legendary (RED!) wepaon i've seen and heard of, and it needs 1 important thing; US! Blacksmiths!
In order to make this weapon you need:
A) MC farming group
B) 300 Blacksmtihing
C) Plans: Sulfuron Hammer
Okay, going to break it down into two parts, you need the Hammer blacksmithings make, and the Eye of Sulfuras, going to take the hammer first.
To make this hammer you will need:
Sulfuron Ingot 8
Dark Iron Bar 20
Arcanite Bar 50
Essence of Fire 25
Blood of the Mountain 10
Lava Core 10
Fiery Core 10
Get that and make:
Sulfuron Hammer
Binds when equipped
Two-Hand Mace
143 - 239 Damage Speed 3.00
(63.7 damage per second)
Durability 120 / 120
Requires Level 60
Chance on hit: Hurls a fiery ball that causes 83 to 101 Fire damage and an additional 16 damage over 8 sec.
Now, to get this plan is rather complicated, and i'm not entirely sure about where to get it. But the Sulfuron Ingot drops off the MC boss "Golemagg the Incinerator" with a 7.5% drop chance.
Its rumoured that you turn in 1 signot to learn the recipe.
Thats as far as i know, now to the second part.
-------------------------------------------------------
Once you get the hammer, you can concentrate on Ragnaros and his eye.
The eye itself is BoP and ONLY drops off the Firelord himself with a drop chance of 5.7%. once you have both, you right click on the Eye and you will get "Quote";
Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros
Binds when picked up
Two-Hand Mace
180 - 302 Damage Speed 3.00
(80.3 damage per second)
+12 Strength
+12 Stamina
+30 Fire Resistance
Durability 145 / 145
Requires Level 60
Chance on hit: Hurls a fiery ball that causes 273 to 333 Fire damage and an additional 75 damage over 10 sec.
Equip: Deals 5 Fire damage to anyone who strikes you with a melee attack.
"un-quote"
I hope this little tale from the seven sea's has inspried you, or atleast left you "wow...." cause it sure did that to me, and as far as i know its the ONLY! legendary weapon discovered so far.

Weaponsmithing, What? How? and Why?
Weaponsmithing is the second evolvement of Blacksmtihing. It can be learned along with Armorsmtihing at Level 40 with a minimum of Blackmsithing 225.
Personally i chose Weaponsmtihing mainly cause everyone takes Armorsmithing and its really too mcuh of a bother when some of the best loot items in the game are Armor's, and not weapons.
Where to start:
From the weaponsmith trainer you will learn 4 different plans, all 4 different types of weapon.
Now these four items all takes speciel components, besides an extraordinary amount of gems, truesilver and mithril.
Core of Earth
The Shatterer needs "Core of Earth" some say the drop chance for these is around 1/125. They can be gotten from high leveled elementals in Badlands (+45) and you will find them in two seperate camps South-West on the map. Or you can do multiple Maraudon runs and kill the roaming elementals inside the Instance. you should get about 2-4 pr. run. Each Shatterer needs 4.
Breath of Wind
These rare components are needed for 2 of the 4 items: Phantom Blade and Truesilver Champion. They are dropped of the Gusting Vortex's in the Taranis desert middle (+43) and are frustraitingly rare. Though killing the roaming earth elementals will automtically sawn 1 Gusting Vortex, it could take an hour just to get 1! Breath, that is if your hunting alone.
The middle of Taranis is a pretty big area so Have Patience! or go home again.
Ichor of Undeath
This, somewhat disgusting, component is dropped from +level 50 Undeads in the Plague Lands. They, on the other hand, are pretty frequent dropped and only needed for the weapon Blight. Which is why you will see many of them on the Auction House at ridicuilessly low prices (Don't ruin the market, give to friends or sell to vendor instead) we're talking 3-10g.
Reason for this is because its by far the easiest item to make of the 4, though also the less wanted.
Geez! This sounds imposible!
But wait, there's light at the end of the tunnel. See blizzard made these components hard to get to prevent Solo farm / Auction House spam. so whats the trick? Don't go alone! i cannot stress this point enough, if you go alone you might aswell turn around. Bring a friend and the drop chances will increase by 40% (estimated increase after take timer on solo/group hunt)
Now for something a little different:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After these four there's only one way to go, and thats usually level 60 if you want to be really prepared for the plan hunt as most are in +55 instances.
The next step in "weaponsmths only" is Blackrock Depths and the infamous Dark Iron. It should be said up front that if you aren't dedicated you should just leave this alone! Dark Iron can ONLY be; Mined, Smelted and Forged inside Blackrock Depths.
So unless you have the time and patience for this, drop it and move on.
Though for those who does go through with it, I have two words for you:
Epic Plans!
This does involve mining and donating houndreds apon houndreds of Dark Iron Ore's to a Dwarf inside the Instance , but you will get thé sweetest fire resistant armor + weapnos. Who knows, you might even make it to Main Tank in the Molten Core raids with these items.
So, for you I've dug up a little guide to help you solo mine 60 Ore's/Hour:
http://www.koden.org/wow/dark_iron_ore_mining_guide.php
Notes:
Back to the initial topic:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once you've hit Blacksmithing 300 and a fully educated Weaponsmith you can start your travel to Wintersprings.
In the neutral Goblin town you'll find the 3 weaponsmtih specializers:
Axe, Hammer, Sword.
Before you can become a Axe/Hammer/Sword-smith, you need to do a quest for them, each involves a +level 60 dungeon run, but you'll recive a plan apon completion, and all of these items are by far suppirior to what else you might get your hands on at the item's level.
Thats almost but not entirely the last step for us weaponsmiths.
Now begins the INSANELY expensive hunt for Arcanite!
Arcanite Bar's can only be transmuted by Alchemists and require: 1 x Arcane Crystal (Rare drop from Rich Thorium Veins ONLY) and 1 x Thorium Bar. Transmution has a 2 day cooldown pr. Bar.
For arcanite is cruicial in the next many Plans as Arcanite weapons are thé final step. I'm sure you have all heard about the Arcanite Reaper? supposedly the best "non-epic drop" axe available, and will happily sell itself on the Auction House for +700Gold.
Most of these end-level drops comes from Blackrock spire, though i have yet to encounter the Reaper myself, but have seen the sword version; Arcanite Champoin.
In conclusion: Look Blacksmthing up on www.thottbot.com and PLAN AHEAD! you really don't want to find out later that you have made the wrong choices cause once they're done, there's no going back.
For all you blacksmtihs out there - Happy Hunting!
I have been mining thorium for some time and would like to post a guide that will give a location of all Rich Thorium i have seen. Maybe others can post ones that i might have missed.
************************************************************
*NOTE*
THESE MINES ARE TIMED USING A MINE TIMER APP FROM MY GUILD
dont ask for the app its not going to be published till completed
************************************************************
Winterspring--
The lvl 57-60 tiger area on the north end spawns 3 rich thorium ever 14.5 min starting from left, then north, then right side.
Yetti cave east of everlook spawns 2 Rich thorium veins that spawn ever 28.2 min one at the very end of the cave, one on the ramp up left side.
Thisulfur Village on the north east side of winterspring has 3 mines that spawn ever 34 min. Left of the gate going in one on the north up the hill and one on the south east at the dead end.
Owlbeast hill southeast side of winterspring near the valley of giants, 29.2 min 2 rich thorium spawns. one in the cave on the left of the owls, one up the hill in the cave on the right
Ungoro --
West side near the lvl 55-56 elite dino at the west pylon not sure of spawn time.
Fire hill in the center of ungoro there are 5 potential spawn points best thing to do there is run up the hill check mini. no spawn run down. no need it walking around it as the mini can cover the whole hill in 2 sec
Silthius --
Misc thorium all over the zone. one of the best mining spots for thorium ore in general there is (imo). Rich thorium on all 4 points of the zone north, south, east, west look at the map once in the zone and hit the 4 center points of each direction 59 min spawn for each mine.
Also if you are a rogue or have a couple buds with you there is ALWAYS 2-3 rich thorium down in the individual insect areas monster lvls ranging from 55-62 elite. (i take a preist and a rogue with me and hit all 4 areas)
East Plague --
East plague has 3 that i know of. respawn is random in this area. 1 is in the cavern just south of light hope chapel. One spawns up the hill north of Light hope in the cauldren area (not sure the name dont care just there for the ore). One spawns North west of light hope near Zul Mashaar just check the general area as this mine jumps a bit.
Suggestions --
If you are in need of ore farm winterspring or silthius as they are the highest mine per area for thorium. If you get your mining spawns right you can endless run from rich thorium to rich thorium for about 30-90 ore per hour and about 6-10 gems per hour
Mining 1-450
This is the new and improved version of my mining guides, all brought together in one place for easy reference, I have gone through each and improved them. Enjoy!
The minimum level for starting this guide is level 5 as this is the level at which you can first learn mining. However as you progress you will need to go into zones with higher level monsters which will require the appropriate level.
You will require a Mining Pick to mine nodes that appear throughout the world. This will take up a space in your inventory, but without it you will not be able to mine anything. You could use a Gnomish Army Knife if you can get your hands on one. This reduces the number of slots that your professions will take up.

Tips and Hints
Recommended Addons
If you are smelting then you can get away without using these addons, however if you are planning to mine all the way up then these are great as it means you do not have to remember where you found nodes.
GatherMate I have chosen to recommend this one as opposed to Gatherer as you can download a very good database for it which is easy to install and use.
The Database This database has most nodes that are found in the game and I use this to plot my circuits. Be warned, it is not 100% of the nodes, and sometimes you may stumble upon one that is not marked, however it will note this down and you can add it for your next loops.
Routes This handy little addon plots a route around all the points that you have in your database in such a way as to make travelling minimal. It is fully compatible with GatherMate.
Training
You will need to visit a trainer periodically, both to get the next Mining skill level, and to learn how to smelt the next ores into bars. When you visit the trainer to get your next skill level it is a good idea to deposit your ore in the Auction House or your Bank, this maximises the amount of time you are spending out in the field, so to speak.
1-75 = Apprentice Mining
75-150 = Journeyman Mining (requires 50 mining)
150-225 = Expert Mining (requires 125 mining)
225-300 = Artisan Mining (requires 200 mining)
300-375 = Master Mining (requires 275 mining)
375-450 = Grand Master Mining (requires 350 mining)

Smelting
This part of the guide is dedicated to levelling by smelting, this will level your Mining faster than if you go out and get all of the ore yourself, but it will cost you. This will require a supply of ore to smelt, generally from the auction house. As a general rule ore is more expensive than the equivalent amount of bars, so you will lose money if you resell the bars after you have smelted them. Alternatively you can then use the bars to level a crafting profession.
1-65 Smelt Copper.
65-70 Smelt Tin.
70-90 Smelt Bronze.
90-125 Smelt Silver.
125-155 Smelt Iron.
155-175 Smelt Gold.
175-230 Smelt Mithril.
230-250 Smelt Truesilver.
250-290 Smelt Thorium.
290-300 Mine some Thorium to level up.
300-315 Smelt Fel Iron.
315-325 Mine some Fel Iron to level up here.
325-340 Smelt Adamantite.
340-350 Mine Adamantite here to level.
350-375 Smelt Cobalt.
375-400 Mine Cobalt (you can mine it for longer, but on most servers Saronite sells for more)
400-450 Mine Saronite.
Mining
This method will take longer, but you will make gold while levelling it if you are selling the ore/bars. Remember you can mine say 2/3 of what you need, then smelt the ore that you have mined to get your skill up to the point you need to get to. This will give you the best of both worlds - faster levelling and low costs.
Note: Just because I recommend, for example, the horde to mine in Thousand Needles does not mean that the Alliance cannot or should not mine here, it just means that it is more out of the way and will take a while to travel there.
1-65
If you are Alliance I would suggest mining from 1-65 in Dun Morogh, if you are horde then I would recommend mining in Durotar. You will be mining Copper.
Dun Morogh

Durotar

It is advisable to get the next training from your trainer before moving on, it will save time. Check the Training section to find your nearest trainer.
65-125
Here you should aim for Tin mostly, but if you pick up Copper it is not a bad thing as you can sell it, or you can smelt it with the Tin to make Bronze. For the Alliance I would recommend Loch Modan, and for the Horde I would recommend mining tin in Thousand Needles.
Loch Modan

Thousand Needles
Note: If you cannot mine iron (which will be for the majority of this section of the guide, then it is not necessarily advisable to do the loop around the Shimmering Flats, this is because it is quite a long way round and the nodes consist mainly of Iron.

Again it is a good idea to get the next training from your trainer (when you reach 125) before moving on, it will save time. Check the Training section to find your nearest trainer.
125-175
This is the point at which Horde and Alliance should be mining in the same place, and I would suggest that place being Arathi Highlands. You will be mining Iron here.
Arathi Highlands

175-250
When you reach 225 mining you will need to go back to your trainer and get the next skill level. Check the Training section to find your nearest trainer.
Next you should head on up to The Hinterlands in search of Mithril, this will take you from 175-250.
The Hinterlands

Note: On this map the route through the ruins is very roughly sketched as the actual path is incredibly winding.
Note 2: You can skip ahead to the next part of the guide at 230, it's up to you and may be better depending on the amount of farming on your server and the relative prices of Thorium/Mithril.
250-300
Here you have 2 options. You can either go to the close-by Eastern Plaguelands where you will be mining Thorium. Or you can go all the way to Winterspring. Personally I prefer Winterspring as it is less busy generally and I find the plaguelands quite depressing
but both zones have plenty of Thorium there just waiting for you to mine it.
Eastern Plaguelands

Winterspring

Congratulations, you have now reached 300 mining! You are now ready to head off to the wilds of the Outlands and mine the exotic ore found there.
You will need to visit your Outland trainer to mine further ore, to find this trainer please refer to the Training section of the guide.
300-325
To follow the next stage of the guide you need to be able to go to Outlands so unless you are planning on being summoned here and running the risk with the higher level mobs you will need to be at least level 58.
Hellfire
Here you will be mining Fel Iron

Note: It can be profitable to drop into the Path of Glory on your route as there are usually one or 2 nodes here, but I would only recommend it if you have a flying mount as there are a lot of mobs in this area.
You can mine in Terrokar Forest if you are not having much luck in Hellfire, but the mobs will be a higher level which may be a consideration if you are not maximum level. The nodes here are more evenly spread between Fel Iron and Adamantite, so this can be frustrating if you can only mine Fel Iron when you go there.
Terrokar Forest

You can do this with a ground mount, although it will be faster if you have a Flying Mount. You will need to do this until you reach 325 mining, you can do this to get to higher mining levels, but Adamantite Ore goes for more gold on most servers so you will be maximising the gold/hour you are getting.
325-350
You can now mine Adamantite Ore this will take you all the way to 375 (although you can stop at 350 as this is the minimum skill for mining Cobalt Ore which is very lucrative at the moment. I would suggest that you mine Adamantite Ore in Nagrand as it is not farmed as much as it was and still spawns a decent number of nodes.
Nagrand

350-400
At this point you will need to visit one of the trainers in Northrend, to find out where they are please check the trainer list in the Training section of the guide.
Howling Fjord
Howling Fjord can be good for levelling initially, although Borean Tundra can be just as good. If you are a high enough level I would recommend that you skip this one and go on to Zul'Drak as it has a very high ore count.
You will be mining Cobalt at this point.

Zul'Drak
You either love it, or you hate it. This is the Marmite zone of Wrath. However it has one of the best ore counts that you will find. In addition to the route I have marked you can go further to the north east if you have time.

400-450
Wintergrasp
I would recommend finishing in this zone although there are is one glaring disadvantage;
It's the only PvP zone for those on PvE realms
However the respawn of nodes is great because of this and generally few people farm it. Here you are aiming to be mining Saronite.

Congratulations you have now reached 450 mining, you will now be able to mine Titanium, this is the expansions equivalent of Khorium, and as such is needed in many high level crafting recipes and is incredibly rare and lucrative. Especially so with the patch that means Jewelcrafters are able to Prospect it for the chance to get epic gems.
Thanks for reading, I hope this has helped.

Alright, this is a loop is for people who are lower 50's or, maybe, high 40's (and i dont mean lvl 46
). Start out at the Northern entrance of the Badlands. Follow the high wall south, past Uldaman, until there is the first major left, East, down another trail. Follow this while hugging the northern side. There should have been a node or two of iron (do not be afraid to mine iron or gold on this run, it's free and it's on the way). Continue until there is a path climbing up while continuing East and climb the path. Continue East and drop down the whinding trail that leads to the dragon whelps. Hug the ledge that seperates you from one of the pillars in the Badlands and go around the ledge and go towards the pillar. Turn South and hug the eastern wall.
At the entrance to the Lethlor Ravine (towards the bigger dragons), go towards the Western wall and follow that south. When the Ravine starts to close again, make a wide turn into a little side path in the southern wall. Climb through this and jump over a few gaps back onto the main road. Follow the wall around the loop and head West throught the path while hugging the eastern and southern walls.
Head South at the first chance and keep hugging the wall. Turn West and follow that wall. I will not go into detail here but go into each of the paths and indents that you occur in this wall. If you do not, there will be approximately 5 or 6 nodes you MAY miss. Continue onward and climb through a little gap at the second ridge by the ogre mound. Afterwards, turn south and go into the mound. Come back out and head into a gap the is directly West of you but you will have to go North then West to get onto the ledge. Continue North and enter the Searing Gorge. You should have gotten an alright supply of iron and mithril, including their alternates: gold and truesilver.
When you enter the Searing Gorge, turn South and go around the Dark Iron camp, unless there is any nodes. Go up the ledge and continue up until you reach the ledge where Margol the Rager is. Continue down the more eastern path just a little bit (you don't have to go into the cave) and go back and follow the other path. Go onto the south ledge by the skinner and follow that a little bit. If you followed it correctly, you should have ended up in a giant clearing with a giant cliff infront of you. Go around and climb the ledge. Continue West again while keeping an eye out for more ledges and indents in the map. Go towards the Blackrock Mountain entrance and hug the ledge just North of the entrance for a little bit (it's just after the second magma river). Continue towards the Southeast corner and climb up in the area up there. Be sure to check the entire area there and start hugging the wall North. When you hit a ledge in the middle of the path, the one that blocks the Twilight Cult caverns (basically not attached to the mountains), climb it and head towards another ledge North-East of it (about South-West of Thorium Point).
Now comes the trickiest part of all. If you have ever been into the Cauldron, there is a hole South of the Thorium Point marked by a crane. Use it but jump onto the block, then the next ridge down and so on. You have to do this because you could possible die from the fall or you could be weakened and will have to fight. Head through the prison gate and turn left, might want to avoid fights to keep speed going but you can fight if you want. Turn left and check until you hit a dead end, at which point you should turn around and head for the exit opposite of the prison gate (don't have too far to tell on your mini-map if there is anything at all). Turn around and go back through the prison gate and go into the big room with Obsedian. Walk around a bit to make sure that there isn't any nodes you missed and continue up the ramp. Go past the Dark Iron guys and head outside via the outside ramp. You may see some nodes but DO NOT JUMP YET! Follow the ramp and go towards the incendosaur caves. If you have experience or have use of your mini-map, jut try to walk through here by making a loop (North and East then South and West or the other way around). Just be sure to get anything you see though.
Remember those nodes outside? Head back out there and jump, trying to jump onto anything higher off the ground or in an area without creeps. Head East, checking the walls for nodes, and exit the Cauldron. Head North (yes North) where you can to enter a clearing. Walk around the walls of the clearing to check for a node or two but be careful of the poachers that kill the spiders, 5 to 1 aren't good odds for success. Head back out of where you entered and follow the path East and South again towards the entrance to the Badlands. If you did this right, you should have an alright supply of Mithril and Dark Iron, even a Thorium node is possible on the Western side too.
Head back to the Northern entrance of the Badlands while hugging the walls (Alliance stay away from the Horde Base
) Now, if this was done with proper timing, there may be respawns and you can rinse and repeat the process again. This is a fairly easy way to get minerals for your blacksmithing or engineering skills, or you can make some fairly good money with one run. A worse run would have 1-2 mithril stacks, less than one stack of iron, and a couple Dark Iron (not including stray iron or mithril). A better run is 3-4 mithril stacks, 1-2 stacks of iron, and some dark iron (not including stray iron or mithril). I won't try to guess on a good truesilver or gold number because it is a random spawn and shouldn't really be accounted for an estimate.
2.
The next loop idea that I have is not too great. I really haven't seen much success with this loop but it is a basic loop. The outer walls of Un'Goro Crater hold both mithril and thorium. Now, in order for this to really work, you will have to go up every ledge and in the gorrilla caves. The real problems that I have with this is: there isn't much terrain to go about getting your minerals;you constantly have to avoid creeps and, worse, lvl 55+ elites, especially on the western side; and the pay out doesn't seem as good as it could be.
3.
For this tip, I am trying to reach those who mine adamantite. This, unlike the previous tips, is not a loop. For frequent adamantite, head to Nagrand and explore all of the large gaps. Though they might not drop frequently enough to be called a loop, they are mostly there, opposed to anywhere else in Nagrand. This tip won't get you hardened adamantite on a great scale, but it lets you keep from guessing.
Info
If you have any other ideas about how to make a mining loop, comment me or get me at . I also have copied WoW maps that have a...err...very rough trail line going over them. No, not a mod, just a piece o' crap paint project that gives a basic idea about where you should end up.
This is a simple one, but just by a little looking and some decent skill you can make lots very quickly.
The secret is that on most any realm, some kind of mining mineral is in REAL high demand.
Look in the AH to see what kind of things go for high price. In my realm the most in demand is Iron. So what do I do? Find a good place to farm it, a favorite is the bottom of Arathi Highlands where the trolls are.
(Thanks for helping me discover that Jame.) Anyway lots of Iron Deposit spawn so the idea would be to get enough to make at least one stack of 20. Next thing we want to do is go to the Auction House and check the prices on it.
Hmmmm...7g Starting Bid and 10g buyout? What is this guy smoking?! (Thats the highest I have seen it go, and seriously that guy was on too much Bloodthistle or even Crack.) Now lets take the current highest price and throw it in at 50s-1g lower...repeat this if it sells until you see if its on demand. If Iron isn't it try things like Mithril, Steel, Etc. I guarantee at some point you will find something on demand, try searching different Bars of Mineral, also note that sometimes they go for higher un-smelted.

Guides about (Dis) Enchanting.

Follow Thander's guide:
On how to make profit of Disenchanting, if you have a item that can make profit, feel free to add it, or leave a comment!
This is NOT a deffinative guide, there is always a possibility that you won't level every single time. If you don't, just make a couple more to get to the next one. The '( )' indicate the materials required to make 1, the number at the end denotes how many you should make.

Guides about Engineering.
Table of Contents
Well, I've seen a lot of people requesting "guides" on which specialization in Engineering they should go (either Goblin or Gnomish) and since recently leveling Engineering for a second time, I decided I'd fulfill that plea by creating this guide on choosing your path. Also this is my first time writing a guide, so bare with me
.
Now without further ado, let's get started.
Well first, let's start with Tinkerwiz.
As his name suggests he is...well a wiz of tinkering. When you are level 30 and reach 200 Engineering you can visit this guy in Ratchet and pick either one of two quests: Goblin Engineering or Gnomish Engineering (Alliance Version). Picking a quest will not immediately set your Engineering to that specialization, but instead refer you to the proper trainer for each specialization. So you still have time after accepting the quest to change your mind.

If you accepted Goblin Engineering, head on down to Gadgetzan in Northern Tanaris. When you arrive, you'll find Nixx Sprocketspring in a small hut next to the Inn. Now when you turn in your quest, Nixx, will give you The Pledge of Secrecy. At this point you can still make a last minute decision to change your mind.
Goblin Engineering allows you to make ingenious explosives and even a Rocket Launcher. Unlike Gnomish Engineering, Goblin devices never fail catastrophically and always work, they just either harm you severely or otherwise kill you. Now, when you turn in this quest, there's no turning back. Your Engineering is intertwined with Goblin Engineering permanently and only certain means can reverse the damage done and those "means" aren't exactly easy to achieve. I'll get into that later on in the guide.
Note: Goblin Engineering may be better for Alliance trying to grind reputation with the Wintersaber Trainers as a direct teleportation to Winterspring is available exclusively to Goblin Engineers.
After that, Nixx will give you Show Your Work, which requires you to make 20 Big Iron Bombs, 20 Solid Dynamites and 5 Explosive Sheeps.
The breakdown on all the materials are:
Iron Bar x 30
Silk Cloth x 10
Wool Cloth x 20
Heavy Stone x 40
Solid Stone x 20
Bronze Bar x 20
Medium Leather x 5
Silver Bar x 2
Once you've made your bombs and exploding sheeps, it's time to turn in your quest and start really making some cool explosive devices.
Congratulations, you are now a Goblin Engineer
! Throughout the rest of your Engineering days you'll be able to make cool and dangerous gadgets like Dimensional Ripper - Area 52 and Goblin Rocket Launcher.
If you accepted Gnome Engineering (Alliance Version), take the boat to Booty Bay and go to Oglethorpe Obnoticus [Coords: 28,76]. If your Alliance, go to Tinker Town in Ironforge and talk to Tinkmaster Overspark. Turn in your quest and get the followup, The Pledge of Secrecy (Alliance Version).
Gnomish Engineering enables you to make bizzare gadgets. For instance, you can turn some one into a chicken or take control of their mind. The only drawback is Gnomish gadgets have a high chance of failure and is somewhat unreliable. Once you complete this quest, there's no turning back and your a Gnomish Engineer forever, preventing you from becoming a Goblin Engineer obviously.
Note: In 3.2, Horde will be able to obtain a Ravasaur mount by doing daily quests in the Southern Kalimdor area. Since Gnomish Engineers can teleport you directly to Gadgetzan, Horde players trying to go for the mount may want to choose Gnomish Engineering over Goblin.
Now, you'll receive Show Your Work (Alliance Version), which requires you to make 6 Mithril Tubes, 1 Accurate Scope and 2 Advanced Target Dummies.
The breakdown on all the materials are:
Iron Bar x 6
Mithril Bar x 18
Gold Bar x 1
Heavy Leather x 8
Bronze Bar x 6
Medium Leather x 2
Wool Cloth x 2
Citrine x 1
Jade x 1
Weak Flux x 1
Once you're done making your target dummies and mithril tubes, it's time to turn in your quest and begin making fantastic gizmos.
Congratulations, you are now a Gnomish Engineer
! For the rest of your Gnomish career, you'll be capable of making mind-boggling yet completely unreliable devices, like Gnomish Poultryizer and Gnomish X-Ray Specs.
So you leveled your engineering all the way and you think Gnomish Engineering is stupid, but you've already made your choice. So what do you do? Well, here's what you do.
Prior to patch 3.2 you had to relearn Engineering all over again. Well, that's not the case anymore. Instead just go to Narain Soothfancy's Hut in Northern Tanaris [Coords: 65, 18]. Then read his book, "Soothsaying for Dummies" and for a hefty 150 Gold you can unlearn your current Engineering Specialization without the consequences of losing the entire profession. You'll lose all schematics for the specialization, however, but retain all general Engineering items.
Well, that's it. I hope everyone liked this guide and found some use in it
Happy Engineering!

Introduction
Engineering is a primary crafting profession that can create as many useful items including end level epic helms, guns, bullets, arrows and scopes. Looking at that list it's no wonder that many hunters will find engineering useful but other classes will also find interesting items as an Engineer. The ability to harvest "clouds" for motes and crystallized elements, the Mechano-hog and Mekgineer's Chopper for example.
List of Materials
Hopefully you've taken mining as a second profession or you have access to a miner otherwise Engineering will be an expensive profession to take all the way to 450. I've worked some leeway into the guide, often by making extra when the recipe has turn yellow just incase you don't get a skill point. This means that there maybe some left over materials by the end.
There are occasions when you might need to buy extra. The Gnomish Knife at the end is a prime example of this. I've also not included the materials need to make the epic engineering helm as it is dependant on which you want to make for yourself.

30 Fel Iron Bar 30 Mote of Earth 15 Mote of Fire |
You need at least 5 casings and 25 powders but probably more due to Fel iron Bomb already being yellow at 320. So make at least 10 casings and 10 powders. If you haven't managed to get to 320 you might want to risk moving on to the Fel iron bombs as there is a chance to make some points up. |
| 320-325 | 10 x Fel Iron Bomb | 10 Fel Iron Casing 20 Handful of Fel Iron Bolts 10 Elemental Blasting Powder |
This is already yellow but you would be very unlucky not to get 5 points from 10 attempts. |
| 325-340 | 20 x 3 Adamantite Grenade | 80 Adamantite Bar 20 Elemental Blasting Powder 40 Handful of Fel Iron Bolts |
Only make enough to get to 340 as it goes yellow at 335 |

| 350-370 | 35 x 1-3 Handful of Cobalt Bolts | 70 Cobalt Bar | You'll need around 50 bolts for later so keeping going until you get enough |
| 370-375 | 18 x 2 Volatile Blasting Trigger | 54 Cobalt Bar 18 Crystallized Water |
You'll need a minimum of 25 triggers for later but we'll make 36 (18x2) as some of the recipes will go yellow and extras may be needed |
| 375-380 | 10 x Overcharged Capacitor | 40 Cobalt Bar 10 Crystallized Earth |
You'll need 10 capacitors later so keep going passed 380 |
| 380-385 | 10 x Hammer Pick | 50 Cobalt Bar | Only make enough to get to 385. If you're a miner keep 1 to replace your pick and hammer. |
| 385-390 | 8 x Explosive Decoy | 8 Frostweave Cloth 24 Volatile Blasting Trigger |
This is one of the yellow recipes that uses the triggers, so only make enough to get to 390 |
| 390-400 | 15 x Froststeel Tube | 120 Cobalt Bar 15 Crystallized Water |
You might not need all 15 so you can stop once you get to 400 and then come back to make more if needed for later recipes |
| 400-405 | 5 x Diamond-cut Refractor Scope | 5 Froststeel Tube 10 Handful of Cobalt Bolts |
|
| 405-415 | 15 x 2-4Saronite Bomb | 65 Saronite Bar 15 Volatile Blasting Trigger |
Another of the yellow recipes that uses the triggers, so just make enough to get to 415 |
| 415-420 | 5 x 5 Mana Injector Kit | 60 Saronite Bar 10 Crystallized Water |
|
| 420-430 | 15 x Mechanized Snow Goggles | 120 Saronite Bar 30 Borean Leather 15 Eternal Shadow |
Goes yellow at 425 so you might not need all 15 to get to 430 |
| 430-435 | 5 x Noise Machine | 10 Froststeel Tube 10 Overcharged Capacitor 40 Handful of Cobalt Bolts |
|
| 435-445 | 15 x Gnomish Army Knife | 150 Saronite Bar 15 Skinning Knife 15 Minning Pick 15 Blacksmithing Hammer |
Stop when you get to 445 to make the your engineering helm (assuming you want it) |
| 445-446 | 1 x Engineering helm example | Materials are dependant on what helm you want | I'm assuming that since you've gotten this far you will want the engineering helm |
| 446-450 | 15 x Gnomish Army Knife | 150 Saronite Bar 15 Skinning Knife 15 Minning Pick 15 Blacksmithing Hammer |
To get to the last couple of points is very expensive as the only really viable recipe to use is the Gnomish Army Knife which unfortunately goes green at 445. So just keep grinding them out till you get there. I would say at least 15-20 might be necessary.. unless you are very unlucky. |
This really is the end.. honest
I hope you found this guide useful. If you see any way I can make it better please feel free to comment and I'll make changes
Ok, being a regular user of Wow-Pro guides, I leveled my first Engineer to 375 and seeing the lack of a guide to help rise the last 75 skill points, y compiled what I think is the easiest and less expensive way to reach this goal.

.
.
Whenever you create "parts" to skill up, keep them - don´t sell them, you will be using them some time in the near future.
.
Most of the schematics are learned from the trainers, but the last 15 points will require some receipe grinding. Each require you to grind on specific mobs till the receipe drops for you (click on the wowhead link to see who drop´s what). These are BoP and can not be found in the AH.

More than one item in a level range means that you can choose which one to craft for the given range.

It is important to note that once you choose either gnomish or goblin engineering you can't switch back unless you drop the profession and pick it back up again.
Gnomish engineering has some benefits that will help you with end-game things. These are devices that are both helpful and dangerous to use. The best one that I have seen so far is the transporter. There are two that you can get though I currently only have the transporter for Gadget. This transporter allows you to basically use the city as an alternate hearthstone every four hours. Be sure that if you plan on using this transporter you have a parachute cloak on first though.
The transporter says it's safe 4 times in the discription. I'm not a genius but to me that screams danger. If you don't have the pattern for the parachute cloak get it before you use the transporter. In the many times that I have used the transporter it has only safely deposited me at my destination four times. There are times when you apear to be normal and in tact but are replaced by your evil twin for two hours. At other times it may randomly turn you into a merloc or a gnoll. Most frequently, however, it will transport you to a spot 10,000 feet above and 10,000 feet away from your destination point.
It is at this time that you start removing as much of your armor as possible while you open your parachute. Keep in mind that you mar land on top of a buzzard or a wolf when you fall so don't remove your weapons only your armor so you don't fall too fast and don't have a large repair bill.
You must be wearing your parachute in order for it to open and don't open it immediately or you will run out of time on the fall and it will close before you reach the ground. Wait until you have been falling for a few seconds to open it.
If you plan to use your transporter keep in mind that you may fall onto elite mobs outside of the Zul'Farrak insance so if you are only lvl 35 be prepared to die horribly.
With that I bid you a happy and hopefully safe landing!
Guides about the Inscription tradeskill. Written by the wow-pro community.

Introduction
With the new expansion WoTLK coming, many new features have been added since patch 3.0.2. The new profession Inscription is one of them.
Inscription is different from any profession to date while utilizes a lot of traits for other professions. The biggest difference between Inscription versus any other profession is at skill level 50+, you can start making "end game" items and glyphs (end game in the sense that level 70-80 players will want to use the items you've created). Glyphs are unique in that typically no Glyph is "better" then another Glyph - each have their benefits depending on the situation. So whether your making a skill level 75 Glyph or a skill level 375 Glyph both could equally desirable.

Image of the new Glyph Window
How it Works: The Three Part Process
Inscription is a three part process: Herbs -> Pigment -> Ink -> Glyphs. To create pigments you will have to use the new "Milling" ability to turn stacks of 5 herbs into 2-3 pigments. The type of herb directly affects the type of pigments it creates (see table below). From there you can use pigments to create inks - some inks require a combination of pigments and lower level inks to create. Finally Glyphs generally require a mix of certain inks, parchments (new purchasable item), and herbs to create.
Types of Ink and How to Obtain Them
● Ivory Ink = 1 Alabaster Pigment. (Peacebloom, Silverleaf, Earthroot)
● Moonglow = 2 Alabaster Pigment. (Peacebloom, Silverleaf, Earthroot)
● Midnight = 2 Dusky Pigment. (Mageroyal, Briarthorn, Swiftthistle, Bruiseweed, Stranglekelp)
● Hunter's = 1 Verdant Pigment. Uncommon (Mageroyal, Briarthorn, Swiftthistle, Bruiseweed, Stranglekelp)
● Lion's = 2 Golden Pigment. (Wild Steelbloom, Grave Moss, Kingsblood, Liferoot)
● Dawnstar = 1 Burnt Pigment. Uncommon (Wild Steelbloom, Grave Moss, Kingsblood, Liferoot)
● Jadefire = 2 Emerald Pigment. (Fadeleaf, Goldthorn, Khadgar's Whisker, Wintersbite)
● Royal = 1 Indigo Pigment. Uncommon (Fadeleaf, Goldthorn, Khadgar's Whisker, Wintersbite)
● Celestial = 2 Violet Pigment. (Firebloom, Purple Lotus, Arthas' Tears, Sungrass, Blindweed, Ghost Mushroom, Gromsblood)
● Fiery = 1 Ruby Pigment. Uncommon (Firebloom, Purple Lotus, Arthas' Tears, Sungrass, Blindweed, Ghost Mushroom, Gromsblood)
● Shimmering = 2 Silvery Pigment. (Golden Sansam, Dreamfoil, Mountain Silversage, Plaguebloom, Icecap)
● Ink of the Sky = 1 Sapphire Pigment. Uncommon (Golden Sansam, Dreamfoil, Mountain Silversage, Plaguebloom, Icecap)
● Ethereal = 2 Nether Pigment. (Found from herbs native to Outland)
● Darkflame = 1 Ebon Pigment. Uncommon (Found from herbs native to Outland)
What to Save for Power Leveling Inscription
If you follow the list below you will need the following to level 1-375:
Any combination of stacks of 5 of the "OR" herbs listed below will work. Example: 60x Liferoot, 100x Kingsblood, 60x Wild Steelboom and 20x Grave Moss would be a total of 240 herbs from that block.
● 140x Peacebloom OR Silverleaf OR Earthroot
● 80x Mageroyal OR Briarthorn OR Swiftthistle OR Bruiseweed OR Stranglekelp
● 240x Wild Steelbloom OR Grave Moss OR Kingsblood OR Liferoot
● 280x Fadeleaf OR Goldthorn OR Khadgar's Whisker OR Wintersbite
● 220(260 to be safe)x Firebloom OR Purple Lotus OR Arthas' Tears OR Sungrass OR Blindweed OR Ghost Mushroom OR Gromsblood
● 220x Golden Sansam OR Dreamfoil OR Mountain Silversage OR Plaguebloom OR Icecap
● 400x Any native Outland herbs
Inscription Trainers
There is an inscription 1-300 trainer in each of the 4 major cities in Azeroth (just ask a guard for the location) - to train from 300-375 you will need to head over to Hellfire Peninsula in Outland.

Notes on the Guide
Scroll of XXXX = Scroll of Agility/Intellect/Spirit/Stamina/Strength
Glyph of XXXX = The glyphs that are currently Orange(or JUST turned yellow) and require only 1 Ink when possible. (100% skill up) They normally come in 2's or but occasionally come with just 1 glyph later on. You can do that one glyph or use some other glyph if you want. Any glyph will give 5 more 100% skill ups after it turns yellow, and the next 5 after that will be about 60% the time it will skill up.

And you are done! Note that there is a new ink at 350 as well as Glyphs that uses the new ink - but they all require Northrend materials so I skipped it for this guide. 360-365 is BRUTAL as everything is green at this point. At 365 EVERYTHING turns gray - it is not possible to hit 375 at the moment.
Note that I did not write this guide, I just edited it. I did the Text Formatting, removed some things, added some things like images, etcetra.

Guides about Jewelcrafting, a Tradeskill that has been implemented with the expansion pack "The Burning Crusade".
Here's the guide I made while I was leveling my character to 350. I was level 68 when I did this and had a ton of gold. I tried this 3 times with different races and classes, and found that sometimes the skill level varied if I stopped crafting something and then start again. You can sell everything made except; Delicate Copper Wire, Bronze Setting, Mithril Filigree, and Thorium Settings. You will need an alchemist to make you a Mercurial Stone (1 Primal Earth, 1 Primal Life, 1 Primal Mana).   Comments are always welcome.
Shopping List;
The following is how I prefer to level my Jewelcrafting. I've used this guide several times and seems to work well enough for myself. Shortly after finishing my Blacksmithing guide I started on this one but never found the time to get it posted. So here it is for your approval. As always I based this guide off of information gathered from www.wowhead.com using the updated level ranges for professions. I'm looking for feedback to see if there are any possible ways to smooth it out or if there are better options because of material costs.

This time around the guide is pretty self explanatory. The patterns are all trainable from the respective profession trainers and the few odd and end limited supply patterns you can either camp the vendor for or snatch them off the Auction House. Below I've listed the patterns you need to purchase from vendors and where to find them for your faction.

NOTE: By prospecting the 200 Adamantite Ore this should give you a sufficient number of uncommon gems if you do not wish to waste time farming Fel Iron Ore for the start of this guide.
As you prospect you're going to receive random colored uncommon gems. You'll want to reserve certain gems during specific phases. From 300 to 310 Make sure to save up 10 Blood Garnet and/or Golden Draenite, you only need 20 total combined not 20 of each. After you finish making the rings from 311 to 320 ALL other gems are fair game to make from 321 to 325. When you make gems from 321 to 325 be sure you're making gems that you learned at 315 and not 305.

For the 350 to 375 Random Socketable Gems there is a large number of gems in the Grand Master segment that I'm not going to try to list them here. Please consult wowhead or your crafting manual in game. Also of note we've gone back to making jewelry due to the availability of the materials. Thankfully in the Grand Master segment the gems are now orange skill level and offer solid points for skill leveling. By the time you've leveled past the random gems you should have enough Crystallized and Eternal Earth that it will expedite the leveling. Much like the Random Socketable Gems I've listed several options from 376 to 390 for jewelry, simply make the items that you have the gems available at that time. I would recommend you pick one specific type that you have an abundance of and reserve those for one of the pieces of jewelry for when you finish the random Socketable Gems segment.

Guides about Leatherworking and Skinning.
This guide is designed to help you quickly and cheaply level your leatherworking. There are points in the leatherworking profession that can be quite frustrating to those who don't know it in and out - this guide will help you prepare for these dry spells with the leather you need ahead of time. I do my best to avoid rare recipes (those found as drops or from out the way trainers) and recipes which require rare or expensive materials. We will occasionally use these recipes due to other constraints, but information on where to find the components will be included.
If you have acquired some extra materials and it would be cheaper for you to create items other than those listed, by all means do so. In addition, feel free to sub out the listed items for some you are making to wear, but remember to get extra leather if this makes you come up short. Any items that are especially important will be noted in the guide (such as those for specialization turn-ins).
For an excellent guide on leveling your skinning BC to Wrath, see the Skinning 300-450 guide.
Note: The numbers provided here are estimates only. You may need a little more leather than what is listed, or a little less. If you end up with extra leather, remember that in most cases you can change that leather into the next type (medium to heavy for example) to save you some cash or farming time later on.
Leatherworking provides some great advantages for leather and mail wearing classes. It is great for leveling up your character since you can very cheaply make item enhancements (armor kits), and can also craft upgrades in gear if you haven't found them as you level. There are some item enhancements which you can only place on your own gear. There is also something to be said for being able to make your own armor kits rather than having to find someone to do it for you.

Note: If you can't find the Cured Medium Hide for the Hillman's Shoulders, you can make Dark Leather Cloaks and Hillman's Leather Gloves instead. However, you will need an additional 110 Medium Leather, so making the shoulders is the better way to go if possible.
Purchase Expert Leatherworking from a leatherworking trainer (requires level 20).
Head to your faction's base in the Arathi Highlands and purchase Pattern: Raptor Hide Belt (Alliance) or Pattern: Raptor Hide Harness (Horde).
Shopping List:
Farming the Materials: You can get Raptor Hide from raptors in Stranglethorn Vale, the Arathi Highlands, and Dustwallow Marsh.

| 200-225 | Create 25 Thick Armor Kit | 125 Thick Leather 25 Silken Thread |
Note: If you are thinking of becoming a Tribal Leatherworker, make sure to save the Thick Armor Kits you created.
Also, if you don't want to get the raptor hide for the belt/harness, or you can't find the recipe, you can make Green Leather Armor and Dusky Leather Leggings for those levels. Just be sure to get extra leather and green and black dye.
Now is the best time to chose your specialization, since you can make the items you need to specialize as you level up your skill.
You won't be able to actually learn your speciallization until you make the required items in the next section (though Elemental leatherworkers can right away if they like, since they don't need to make anything).
This section is divided into subsections for each specialization. Items that will be used for your specialization are marked in red.
If you would prefer not to specialize at this time, follow the instructions for Elemental Leatherworking but do not buy the elemental items on the shopping list (labeled in red)
Purchase Expert Leatherworking from a leatherworking trainer (requires level 35).
Purchase Pattern: Wicked Leather Gauntlets from Werg Thickblade in Tirisfal Glades (Horde) or Leonard Porter in the Western Plaguelands (Alliance).
Shopping List:
Farming the Materials: The scorpids of Tanaris can be skinned for the scorpid scales. For higher level players, the Uldaman scorpids also drop scales, and you can enter, kill them, leave, reset, and repeat to quickly gather the needed amount. You will need to travel to Feralas to continue your progress. Before you head out, make sure you have all your materials with you, since it will be easiest to turn them all in at once here.
You should have:

| 236-237 | Create 1 Wild Leather Helmet | 10 Thick Leather 2 Wildvine 1 Cured Thick Hide |
| 237-238 | Create 1 Wild Leather Vest | 12 Thick Leather 2 Wildvine 1 Cured Thick Hide |
| 238-255 | Create 17 Nightscape Pants | 238 Thick Leather 68 Silken Thread |

Turn in the rest of your quests to the Wild Leather NPC – he should finally give you a quest to see a leatherworking trainer in your capital city. Head back there to complete that quest, and you will then be ready to specialize.
Note: Any leatherworker can complete the wild leather quests if he or she wants those recipes, but they happen to be required for Tribal Leatherworking.
Also be sure you have completed all of your wild leather quests (See this article on WoWhead for a list of the quests).
Purchase Master Leatherworking from the Grand Master trainer in either Thrallmar or Honor Hold (requires level 50).
Shopping List:
| Level | Craft | Materials |
| 300-320 | Create 20-25 Knothide Armor Kit | 80-100 Knothide Leather |
| 320-325 | Create 5 Wild Draenish Gloves | 45 Knothide Leather 30 Rune Thread |

Purchase Grand Master Leatherworking from the trainer in one of your faction's main Northrend bases (requires level 60?).
Shopping List:
| Level | Craft | Materials |
| 350-375 | Create 25 Borean Armor Kit | 100 Borean Leather |
| 375-390 | Create 15 Arctic Gloves | 150 Borean Leather |
| 390-405 | Create 155 Heavy Borean Leather (make it until it turns gray, you'll need tons later) | 930 Borean Leather |
| 405-410 | Create 5 Jormungar Leg Armor | 25 Heavy Borean Leather 5 Jormungar Scales |
| 410-415 | Create 5 Fur Linings of your choice (Attack Power, Spell Power, Stamina) | 5 Arctic Fur |
| 415-420 | Create 5 Pack of Endless Pockets or other bag | 40 Heavy Borean Leather |
| 420-425 | Create 5 Eviscerator's Bindings | 40 Heavy Borean Leather 5 Eternal Air |
| 425-430 | Create 5 Eviscerator's Guantlets | 50 Heavy Borean Leather 5 Eternal Air |
Leveling from 430 to 450 is much more difficult and costly. At this point it is probably best to craft specific items to sell, for friends, or for yourself, instead of purely to level up. You can level this with just recipes learned from your trainer, but you may want to purchase the epic recipes which cost Arctic Furs, for the purposes of making gear for yourself or others.
In addition, all recipes past this level require rare materials such as frozen orbs.
If you still simply want to level as cheaply as possible without farming rare materials, here is a suggestion:
I hope you found this guide informative. In the future, more details on useful recipes may be added, or tips on making money with leatherworking.
I am also looking for feedback! Let me know if this guide worked well for you, or leave a comment with any suggestions for improvements or corrections.
Thank you for reading!
Levelling Skinning 350-450
Table of Contents
To determine the highest level creature you can skin we use the formula: (Skinning skill)/5. In case you don't like the area I've suggested you raise the skill you can use this formula to skin wherever you desire.

1. There are a lot of areas in Hellfire Peninsula that you can get to 310 skinning from. You should be killing Hellboars of all kind for an easy 10 skillups.
2. Now you may either, continue killing Hellboars untill 330 or move to the Ravagers near Falcon Watch or the ones near the Warp Fields.

1. This part of the skinning experience is very very easy. Nagrand has been called the Skinner's Paradise for the sole reason of the enormous amount of Beasts in the zone. The area I have highlighted includes Talbuks and Clefthoofs. They are found in such abundance in this area that you can probably get to 350 skinning in 1 or 2 crossings of the area.
NOTE= You have a choice now, you can continue skinning in Nagrand untill 375 OR move onto the Howling Fjord. This will depend on your level. If you are above level 70 I would highly recommend going right on ahead to the Howling Fjord.

1. Go to the area around The Ancient Lift and start killing any Shoveltusk you see. Be sure to skin all of them untill you reach Skinning Skill 405 as they turn green.
(Alternative: You can kill Mammoths in Northern Borean Tundra, or Beasts if you do not have an intention of going to the D.E.H.T.A. Camp)

1. Go to the area of land around Drakil'Jin Ruins and kill any Duskhowl Prowler you come upon, as well as any other Beast in the area. Make sure to skin them.

1. Go to this very large encompassed area of land. Inside this area there are a large variety of animals including: Rhinos, Crocolisks and Dreadsabers. To be blunt, kill them all. Make sure to skin every last one untill you reach 450 Skinning.
While skinning you may come across such items such as:
1. Arctic Fur
2. Jormungar Scale
3. Icy Dragonscale
4. Nerubian Chitin
5. Borean Leather Scraps which can be created into Borean Leather once you have 5.
All these items are used for a plethora of BoE Leatherworking items such as:
1. Jormungar Leg Armour which is the an improvement over the Nether Leg Armours.
2. Icescale Leg Armour which again is an improvement over the Nether Leg Armours.
3. Frosthide Leg Armour the epic version of Jormungar Leg Armour.
All of these items are also used for special Leatherworker only enchants like:
1. Fur Lining - Attack Power An extremely powerful enchant for the bracers, only for leather workers.
2. Nerubian Leg Reinforcements Is one of the many leatherworking only leg enchants, and the bonus about them is that they require barely any materials to create them.
I would highly recommend keeping most of these 'special' skins or perhaps selling them to a leatherworker, or even picking up the leatherworking proffession yourself.
Introduction
This guide is focused towards player who are a little confused about what professions to take. In this guide I will explain what each profession is and how it works with th other professions. There are 14 total professions but there are 3 secondary which are professions that can be learned plus your 2 primary. WARNING, this IS NOT a profession leveling guide!!!

Mining is a gathering skill that allows you to take a mining pick to various veins that litter the landscape and attempt to get raw metals and gems for crafting armor, weapons, potions, jewels, and many other items. Mining, in my opinion, is one of the best professions to get gold.
Mining fuels many professions, although it goes well with some more then others. The following is a list of comparisons between the other professions and mining.
Alchemy: Mining and alchemy do not go along together very well. While alchemy can transmute metals and some potions may need metals, herbalism would always be better.
Blacksmithing: Most everything a blacksmith makes is done with metal and gems obtained through mining. You should rarely pick up blacksmithing without mining, as the ores required to skill up are extremely expensive.
Enchanting, Skinning, Tailoring: These three professions do not require mining nor interfere with it. Skinning is an exceptional choice to take with mining though, as with two gathering skills you can bring in the money fast.
Engineering: Like blacksmithing, engineering requires rare gems and metals. If you plan on becoming an engineer then you will want to bring mining along to fund your crafts.
Herbalism: Herbalism and mining do not go together very well. There is good reason, of course. Mining and herbalism use the mini-map to detect “nodes” (locations veins and herbs). You can only detect one type of node at a time, so you can’t detect both mineral veins and herbs.
Jewelcrafting: You will need mining to take full advantage of jewelcrafting. Most items created with jewelcrafting will require rare gems which can be found easier with prospecting (a jewelcrafting skill).
Leatherworking: Mining and leatherworking do not go along together as leatherworking requires leather from skinning.
As a miner you spend a lot of time digging things out of the ground. This has the added advantage of toughening you up. This is a passive ability that was added in patch 3.0.2 that you automatically gain as a miner and adds health to your charater based on the level of your mining skill. The Stamina added is shown in the table below.
| Toughness Rank | Mining Skill | +Stamina |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 75 | 3 |
| 2 | 150 | 5 |
| 3 | 225 | 7 |
| 4 | 300 | 10 |
| 5 | 375 | 30 |
| 6 | 450 | 50 |
Skinning is a gathering skill that allows you to take a Skinning knife and skin various beasts, dragonkins, and silithids to gather leather, hides, and scales. Some enemies can be skinned, while others can’t, but those that can be provide extra income from enemies already slain. The materials gathered from Skinning are useful in numerous trades and can be sold for a good bit at the auction house!
Skinning is the source of materials for many professions, although it is primarly used for Leatherworking. Leather by itself sells really well do to how it's used in so many crafted items and is one of the cheaper routes to go for the Darkmoon Faire.
Alchemy: Skinning and Alchemy do not go together and you would be at a major disadvantage with this combo.
Blacksmithing: Blacksmiths require metal and sometimes leather for their creations. blacksmithing and Skinning do not go together due to the high price of metal, but leather is used in many recipes.
Enchanting: These two do not require skinning but they also don't interfere with it. A fine choice should you not want to take up Leatherworking and want to have a craft that produces something.
Engineering: Skinning is not a very good choice with Engineering. Once again, while many recipes may call upon leather, you'll find many many more requiring mining.
Herbalism or Mining: Dual gathering professions are very important to consider because of the good chance of making a decent profit off just gathering materials and reselling to players. Taking skinning then Mining or Herbalism is a good choice because Skinning doesn't have a radar finding skill (the skin is off the enemies corpse) so you it won't interfere with them!
Jewelcrafting: Jewelcrafting goes best with Mining and will get little to nothing out of Skinning.
Talioring: This profession goes well with skinning because in the higher lecels it will require some hides.
Leatherworking: Leatherworking requires leather, hides, and scales to create things. These items are provided by Skinning. 'Nuff said.
Master of Anatomy
| Master of Anatomy Rank | Skinning Skill | +Crit |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 75 | 3 |
| 2 | 150 | 6 |
| 3 | 225 | 9 |
| 4 | 300 | 12 |
| 5 | 375 | 20 |
| 6 | 450 | 32 |
Herb Gathering is the profession for picking various herbs used mostly in the by Alchemy. Herbs are spread throughout every zone in the game and many are considered very valuable, even if they aren’t all that rare! Herbalism is very similar to Skinning and Mining in that it is a gathering profession used to gather resources to be used in other professions.
Herbalism is the source of materials for mostly Alchemy, but can be combined with differnt professions depending on what your aim is!
Alchemy: Herbalism and Alchemy are the perfect match. The herbs can be turned into potions which can even in some cases extend the value of certain combation of herbs. If you have Herbalism and you don't want to go with Skinning then for sure get Alchemy
Blacksmithing: Blacksmits require metal, not herbs. It's a very bad combo with Herbalism.
Enchanting, Talioring: These two do not require Herbalism but they also don't interfere with it. A fine choice should you not want to take up Alchemy or Skinning.
Engineering: Herbalism is not a very good choice with Engineering. Once again, while many recipes may call upon herbs, you'll find many many more requiring mining.
Skinning or Mining: Dual gathering professions are very important to consider because of the good chance of making a decent profit off just gathering materials and reselling to players. However, do not take up Mining and instead op for Skinning. Mining uses the "Find Mineral" command which doesn't work with the "Final Herb" command.
Jewelcrafting: Jewelcrafting goes best with Mining and not Herbalism.
Leatherworking: Leatherworking requires leather, hides, and scales to create things. Skinning provides these, not Herbalism.
Inscription: This profession works very well with Herbalism because you need herb to make ink.
| Lifeblood rank | Herbalism Skill | Health Gained |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 75 | 300/5 Seconds |
| 2 | 150 | 480/5 Seconds |
| 3 | 225 | 720/5 Seconds |
| 4 | 300 | 900/5 Seconds |
| 5 | 375 | 1200/5 Seconds |
| 6 | 450 | 2000/5 Seconds |
Tailoring is a primary profession designed to create various pieces of equipment out of cloth tailored mostly towards Priests, Mages, and Warlocks. Cloth is a resource that is obtained from the world from various enemies (mostly enemies that are the “Humanoid” type). The cloth can then be turned into various forms of cloth based equipment (like robes, pants, shoes, etc.) and other cloth based items like bags.
Tailoring works with all gathering professions. Enchanting, Mining, Skinning, and Herbalism are all perfect companions to Tailoring. Blacksmithing, Engineering, Leatherworking, and Jewelcrafting are often less desired due to their need of resources. However, many players who have a substantial flow of gold can often ignore their gathering professions and just purchase the necessary materials off of the AH. It’s all about your level, the time you have available, and how much money you can spend on a profession.
Alchemy is one of the primary professions. Those who take up Alchemy become an Alchemist which is able to brew potions, elixers, oils, and flasks. These various consumables can restore health and mana, grant invisibility, give elemental resistance, and much more. They can also convert various metals and high level essences into different properties through the power of transmutation. Alchemy also comes with a very usefulpassive ability called Mixology.
Alchemy only goes along well with one other primary profession: Herbalism. Herbalism allows you to gather herbs which can then be used to make potions. You are not required to take Herbalism along with Alchemy, however, buying the herbs from the auction house to level up and brew certain potions is way more expensive and time consuming then gathering them yourself.
If you’re level 80 and have lots of spare money and don’t mind the very expensive cost of leveling Alchemy up yourself then some would suggest taking Enchanting or Tailoring. Both of these professions are not dependant on another profession and give you access to more ways to make money.
Blacksmithing is a primary trade skill. When choosing Blacksmithing as a primary skill, make sure you really want it, as you may only have two skills at one. Also when you choose Blacksmithing you are pretty much locked into taking Mining as your second primary skill. You are able to unlearn trade skills but if you do this, you will lose all your skill points in it. If you were to start Blacksmithing again you would have to start from the bottom, not at your last skill level. This goes for all professions. A good thing about blacksmithing , and Leatherworking is that they let you upgrade you gear with stuff you make(i.e Socket Bracer for blacksmithing and Light Armor Kit for leatherworking).
Mining is usually paired with blacksmithing, as you can find your own materials to use while blacksmithing, instead of having to buying them. While it is possible to go without mining, it would be extremely expensive to do.
Leatherworking is a primary trade skill. When choosing leatherworking as a primary skill, make sure you really want it, as you may only have two primary tradeskills at once. Also when you choose leatherworking you are pretty much locked into taking skinning as your second primary skill.
Skinning is a must if you are a leatherworker, as you can then find your own materials to use instead of having to buying them. While it is possible to be a leatherworker without taking skinning, it would be extremely expensive to do.
Engineering can be a difficult but ultimately a very rewarding one! There are many things that an engineer gains access to that no other class can get, for example class specific epic helms and created epic flying machines. These abilities alone attract many players. There are other things along the way that will help you out as well, but be warned, Engineering is a fairly selfish profession. While there are some things you can create and sell, many are for your use only as they require engineering skill to use.
Mining goes well with engineering as metal bars are a common ingredient in Engineering recipes. It's less expensive in the long run if you choose mining as your second primary trade skill.
The Inscription profession allows its practitioners, called "scribes," to enhance the spells and abilities of players’ characters, such as enhancing a rogue's Backstab ability to deal more damage to stunned targets, or allowing a priest’s Circle of Healing to heal one more target.
Inscription works best with Herbalism however you can get another profession if you have enough money to buy all of the needed herbs.
Enchanting
Enchanting is the art of using magic to improve items - turning wood into magic wands or increasing the bonuses of a piece of equipment. Enchanting requires raw materials, most of which come from disenchanting quality items (at least uncommon). This art thus requires no special gathering skill.
Enchanting works well with all other professions because you make you own reagents with disenchanting, however, in my opinion, I think the best mix would be with Tailoring because at around level 30 (tailoring) you can make Brown Linen Robe and then disenchant it for reagents. Another profession that it works well with is inscription because you can make vellums and ready made enchants as well to sell on the AH.
Jewelcrafting is a profession which was introduced in the Burning Crusade expansion. Players are able to make rings, trinkets, necklaces and more, as well as gems for socketed items. Special for any Jewelcrafters, are figurines which are Bind on Pickup. Figurines are special animal-shaped trinkets. Figurines must be equipped in one of the trinket slots to get their effects as well as make them usable. When the figurine is used, it summons a magical creature that will aid you in some way. Each figurine is unique.
Like so many others, this craft relies heavily on Mining. You don't have to be a miner to craft Jewelry, but you will need large amounts of ores, bars, and gems. If you have another toon to provide you with materials, that works fine. If not I highly recommend taking mining as your second tradeskill. Otherwise the cost to you will be extremely high, considering the number of gems and ore required just to hit 300 skill.
Cooking is one of the 3 secondary professions. It is fairly cheap to level because the ingredients needed are found by killing beasts. Because it is a secondary profession every other profession goes well with it. Also level wise you should level this with fishing because you can cook the things you fish! *Thanks to Jiyambi*
Fishing is one of the 3 secondary professions. It is fairly cheap to level because all you need is a fishing rod and water. Because it is a secondary profession every other profession goes well with it. If you are having trouble leveling you fishing then go to a lower level area and fish there, you can also use items to increase your level for a short amount of time such as a Shiny Bauble.
First Aid is the last of the 3 secondary professions. It is, in my opinion the hardest of the 3 to level especially if you put it off until a higher level. Basically all you need is some cloth. This skill is very useful in that it heals you without have to buy food or waste potions.

Tailoring Gold
By Domobb
Tailoring is a great profession. People don't understand tailoring quite as well as they could. I thought it was a rubbish profession to use to make money. Although I have developed a great way to make gold with tailoring, and it involves using the auction house, but it is simple and free.
Addons:
Auctioneer
Requirements: Tailoring from level 1-450.
Some items may require higher level tailoring to make so just stick to items that you can make.
These items you will want to make because they sell easily, and higher levels buy them for there alts to level up quicker.
Good sellers.
Simple kilt - may take from 20s-1g to make, sell higher price depending on price cost to make. (sell in bulk) http://www.wowhead.com/?item=10047
Tuxedo pants - may take 1-3g to make, sell for 10-15g, these are great because they are rarer to the jacket. (sell 1-3 at a time) http://www.wowhead.com/?item=10035
Enchanters cowl - Not to expensive, only make if thick spider's silk is cheaper than 20s, sell 3-5g. (sell 1-2 at a time) http://www.wowhead.com/?item=4322
Soft-soled linen boots - takes around 1-2g to make, sell for 3-4g depending on price. (sell in bulk(6) ) http://www.wowhead.com/?item=4312
Dreamweave vest - this is an awesome item because it may take only 1-3g to make, and you can sell it for 20-40g. (sell 1 at a time) http://www.wowhead.com/?item=10021
Dreamweave circlet - another great item just like the vest. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=10041
Dreamweave gloves - another great item just like the circlet and vest. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=10019
Spidersilk boots - these boots may only cost 1-5g to make, although 1 mat is very expensive, if you find it cheap can sell up to 40-60g http://www.wowhead.com/?item=4320
CLOTH, CLOTH, CLOTH!
Buy cloth, cloth is very valuable because it can be cheap, but the next day jump a load. The same as mining ores.
Always buy linen if it is 20s or lower a stack.
Always buy runecloth if it is 2g or less a stack.
Always buy mageweave if it is 1g or less a stack.
Always buy silk cloth it it is 50s-1g or less a stack.
Always buy Wool cloth if it is 50s or less a stack.
*NOTE*, if you notice shadow silk or thick spiders silk for less than 20s a piece, buy it, will help in making items.
Now you should be on your way with making money using tailoring. One more thing. If you wish to make more money, take the mining profession as your second and follow this mining guide: Mining 1-450
Good luck Tailoring your gold.
Step 1: Buy all the following items at AH/VENDOR/ Note: Everything marked with (*) can be bought from the trainer! So don't stress buying them now.
**WARNING**
You will need a lot of bag space for this, so i suggest you by all the materials and mail them to an alt, if you don't have one, make one and park it next to a post box, send all the materials, then just hit reply on your alt and all your materials will be in your post box ready to be picked up when needed.
**WARNING(number 2)**
The below list is a bare minimum, with you getting a skill point on pretty much every item crafted, even when yellow and not orange, so you can expect to have to buy a lot more mats then are listed below.

Leave Shattrath from one of its Eastern exits and start to follow the road east. If you haven't already got the Stonebreaker Hold (horde) or the Allerian Stronghold(Alliance) FP's, take the south fork in the road when at Tuurem and pick them up, if you have or are not interested, just keep following the road east, when the road forks again, take the southern fork, and continue into SMV.
Again if you want the FP's here, take the first road north you find for Shadowmoon Village(Horde) or take the first road south you find for Wildhammer Stronghold(Alliance).
Carry on along the road and you will eventually find the Sanctum of the Sun, just south of the road. Buy Imbued Netherweave Tunic (or robe) pattern from Arrond.
Use your hs to get to Shattrath again. If you have the flight path to Honor Hold/Thrallmar use it now. If not mount back up, leave Shattrath east and start following the road again, this time at the first fork, take the northern route into Hellfire, you will find the road disappears though, so just follow the map below. The blue routes are the optional horde FP's. I highly recommend getting the Falcon Watch FP though as it is the connecting FP between Shattrath and Thrallmar.

325 - 340: Bolt of Imbued Netherweave
340 - 350: Netherweave Boots

360 - 375: Imbued Netherweave Tunic
That's it so far, ill try and add some farming spots if people want, as depending on your cash it might be easier / cheaper to farm, although with the amount of gold you can now make in the latest expansion, it might be more profitable (in a gold / hour) to just farm something else to sell and buy the mats needed!
p.s. Massive thanks to whoever originally posted this list, i take no credit for that, i simply updated it a bit =)

Introduction:
Special Perks for Tailors:
Tailors get unique cloak enchants (healer - Darkglow Embroidery, caster - Lightweave Embroidery, melee - Swordguard Embroidery) as well as an easy to craft Spellthread to use on their pants
-=Note=- it is not any better then the one they can craft for other players, however the materials are drastically cheaper
Finally tailors get to craft a magic carpet to ride on!(e.g. Swift Ebonweave Carpet)
Tailors also get a new ability learned from a world drop book - A Guide to Northern Cloth Scavenging - which increases the cloth drop rates of all Northrend Humonoids they kill!
For those saving TBC materials
You can still make rare/epic TBC tailoring items up to 395 (just about every pattern that crafts a rare/epic item that you learned at 375 will turn green at 390 and gray at 395) however this guide will focus on the cheapest materials to get to 450 - which in all cases points to new Northrend green tailoring items. If you still want to stock up on materials to level with TBC mats your best bet is to craft a ton of Golden Spellthread/Runic Spellthread as they are currently the cheapest high level items as well as still being somewhat useful in WOTLK.
The Guide:
Note every pattern listed is purchasable from the trainer or a vendor unless otherwise noted
Materials Required:
390 Bolt of Imbued Frostweave
275 Bolt of Frostweave
175 Eternium Thread
Doesn’t sound like much? Lets break it down further:
7225 Frostweave Cloth
780 Infinite Dust
175 Eternium Thread
375-380:
Frostwoven Robe (4x Bolt of Frostweave, 1x Eternium Thread) x5
375-425:
You can craft basically the entire Frostwoven and Duskweave set - which is worth it if you plan on using it. Otherwise this just goes over the cheapest items in these 2 sets to skill up with.
380-390:
Frostwoven Leggings (5x Bolt of Frostweave, 1x Eternium Thread) x10
390-395:
Frostwoven Boots (4x Bolt of Frostweave, 1x Eternium Thread) x5
395-400:
Frostwoven Leggings (5x Bolt of Frostweave, 1x Eternium Thread) x5
400-405:
Bolt of Imbued Frostweave (3x Bolt of Frostweave, 2x Infinite Dust) x5
Craft as may of these as you can until it turns grey at 405, you’ll need it to level from 425-450. If you plan on leveling only to 440 you’ll need 90 of these. If you plan on leveling to 450 you need about 300 more LOL GOOD LUCK.
405-415:
Duskweave Wristwraps (8x Bolt of Frostweave, 1x Eternium Thread) x5
415-420:
Duskweave Gloves (9x Bolt of Frostweave, 1x Eternium Thread) x5
420-425:
Duskweave Shoulders (10x Bolt of Frostweave, 1x Eternium Thread) x5
425-430:
Frostweave Bag (6x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 2x Eternium Thread) x5
Depending on if you have any Iceweb Spider Silk, Black Duskweave Wristwraps are the cheapest way to level to 430 - I included the Black Duskweave Leggings as they are a good pair of rare leggings that cost 1 extra Bolt of Imbued Frostweave.
Black Duskweave Wristwraps (4x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 2x Iceweb Spider Silk, 2x Eternium Thread) x5
Black Duskweave Leggings (5x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 2x Iceweb Spider Silk, 2x Eternium Thread) x5
430-440:
Frostweave Bag (6x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 2x Eternium Thread) x10
Cheapest thing you can make at this point and at least you can auction them to get some gold back.
440-445:
Now this gets retardedly hard. There are a handful of patterns that stay yellow to 445 but the cheapest way to go is to just make 25x Frostweave Bags and pray that you get lucky. No seriously. The other option is to craft the 3 rare bags - however Ebonweave, Spellweave, and Moonshroud all have a 4 day cooldown (similar to the cloths in TBC) and the patterns all require reputation to buy.
Frostweave Bag (6x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 2x Eternium Thread) x25
Optional : Abyssal Bag (4x Ebonweave, 2x Spellweave, 1x Eternium Thread) x5 -
Pattern Obtained through Knights of the Ebon Blade Revered Reputation
Optional : Mysterious Bag (4x Spellweave, 2x Moonshroud, 1x Eternium Thread) x5 - Pattern Obtained through The Wyrmrest Accord Revered Reputation
Optional : Glacial Bag (4x Moonshroud, 4x Ebonweave, 1x Eternium Thread) x5 - Pattern Obtained through The Son of Hodir Exalted Reputation
445-450:
You can also make the tailoring epic gloves now as well so might as well craft 1 to help level. Past that the cheapest way is still Frostweave Bag followed by the 2 rare bags. (Abyssal Bags turn green at 445 so is not on this list)
Frostweave Bag (6x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 2x Eternium Thread) x25
Optional : Ebonweave Gloves (4x Ebonweave, 4x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 1x Eternium Thread, 1x Frozen Orb) x5
Optional : Moonshroud Gloves (4x Moonshroud, 4x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 1x Eternium Thread, 1x Frozen Orb) x5
Optional : Spellweave Gloves (4x Spellweave, 4x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 1x Eternium Thread, 1x Frozen Orb) x5
Optional : Mysterious Bag (4x Spellweave, 2x Moonshroud, 1x Eternium Thread) x5
Optional : Glacial Bag (4x Moonshroud, 4x Ebonweave, 1x Eternium Thread) x5

First Aid is a great profession to have. For many, it is actually an essential profession. Where First Aid really shines is in PvP. For non-healing classes, this is a great boost. If they can keep the enemy at hold for a few seconds, the healing from First Aid really helps alot. It can be the difference between life and death. Not just in PvP, but also in PvE, especially when leveling. Ever played a mage and had a close-to-death match where you just barely managed to freeze the target and first aid yourself? Personally, I once kept the tank alive for a few seconds longer using First Aid on him while playing my rogue in some dungeon.
This is a guide that will make it easier to level up your first aid, so that you can benefit from it in the situations presented above, and many others. I have made the shopping list with two thoughts in mind; it is the approximate number of cloths you'll need, and it is also linked to Wowhead so that you can look up which mobs has the highest drop rate relevant to your level. This enables you to grind for the cloth, or simply routing it with your leveling, instead of spending money on it on the AH. Also, many servers don't offer too many cloths on the AH, which is another reason to grind.

This guide is designed to level Fishing and Cooking together. I recommend being a high level character (at least 70) when using this guide, but you can use it in stages as you level up. Overall, Cooking will level faster than Fishing, so after 225 we will concentrate on Cooking. Fishing will still level up, but you will catch some junk if you're not high enough level. You can also level Fishing by working on the Fishing Achievements. You can find links to the Fishing and Cooking Achievements at the end of the Trainers list.
I'm going to include both Horde and Alliance since they can follow the same paths, with just a few detours.
Horde Trainers, Vendors and locations will be in RED, Alliance will be in BLUE and Neutral will be in this COLOR. I'm going to use the starting areas I think are the best, but you can start in any of them if you have a preference (all trainers are listed at the end).
Always cook every fish you catch (even when they are gray), it's not much but cooked fish sell to Vendors for more than raw fish do. Always start at the bottom of your recipe list, you can make full use of your fish this way.
Get the Fishing Buddy addon, it will auto-cast, auto-lure, automatically turn on the Find Fish tracking option (when you get it), and it has a counter that will tell you how many fish you need to get to your next skill point (this makes you not go crazy). It also does a lot of other stuff, but those are the important things for leveling. GatherMate is another good addon to have.
Ask an Engineer to make you 30 Aquadynamic Fish Attractors. Mats: 20 Bronze Bars, 10 Nightcrawlers, 10 Coarse Blasting Powder (or 10 Coarse Stone so they can make the powder). Have more made if you run out.
Horde go train at Thunder Bluff: Kah Mistrunner (Fishing), Aska Mistrunner (Cooking).
Buy all the recipes from Sewa Mistrunner (Fishing Supplies), Naal Mistrunner (Cooking Supplies).
Alliance go train at Stormwind: Arnold Leland (Fishing), Stephen Ryback (Cooking).
Buy all the recipes from Catherine Leland (Fishing Supplies), Erika Tate (Cooking Supplies).
Buy a Fishing Pole and a stack of Shiny Baubles (you can't use the good lures until Fishing 100).
Now head to Bloodhooof Village in Mulgore or Goldshire in Elwynn Forest.
Alliance buy Recipe:Longjaw Mud Snapper from Tharynn Bouden (Trade Supplies). Horde will already have this recipe.
Go to Stonebull Lake or Crystal Lake, equip your pole, apply a lure, and start Fishing.
Until Fishing 125 you will get a skill point with almost every catch, after 125 it will take you 2 or more catches to skill up.
Fish until you reach 75. Find your Fishing Trainer in the area (Uthan Stillwater or Lee Brown) and train.
Learn Recipe:Brilliant Smallfish and cook all you can. If you haven't reached Cooking 50, fish for more.
At Cooking 50, learn Recipe:Longjaw Mud Snapper and cook all of them.
You're probably not at Cooking 75 yet, but we're going to move because there is a higher catch rate for Raw Longjaw Mud Snappers in these other locations.
Go to Thunder Bluff, train Cooking, and fish from the small pond on the lower rise or Stormwind, train Cooking and fish from the canals.
Cook all of your fish and make sure you have Cooking 75. Time to head to Hillsbrad Foothills.
Head to Tarren Mill or Southshore and go over to the river. Fish in the Sagefish schools. Occasionally you will fish up a trunk, open it and hope you get a Weather-Beaten Journal which will teach you the Find Fish ability.
When you reach Fishing 150, cook until Cooking 150, then visit your trainers.
Horde go to Undercity: Armand Cromwell (Fishing Trainer), Eunice Burch (Cooking Trainer).
Alliance go to Ironforge: Grimnur Stonebrand (Fishing Trainer), Daryl Riknussun (Cooking Trainer).
Cook the rest of your fish.
Be sure to get all the recipes from your Cooking and Fishing Suppliers. They are near the Trainers.
If your Cooking is not 175 yet, go back to Hillsbrad Foothills until it is.
If you don't have the Weather-Beaten Journal, don't worry you can still get it at the next stop.
Head to Altreac Mountains, to Lordmere Lake near the Dalaran Crater. Fish from the Greater Sagefish schools all along the shore. If you didn't get the Weather-Beaten Journal, fish in the Waterlogged Wreckage pools until you get it. Don't leave here without it!!
Get Fishing and Cooking to 225. This will allow you to get Nat's Lucky Fishing Pole (this is the best pole in the game until you get lucky on a Fishing Daily in Dalaran, get exalted with the Kalu'ak or win the Fishing Contest in Stranglethorn Vale). Click for more info on fishing poles.
Go Train in Undercity or Ironforge.
Get the Aquadynamic Fish Attractors from your bank (you need them now).
Now you have to do some traveling.
Go to Dustwallow Marsh and find Nat Pagle (58,60). Pick up Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme.
Fly to Gadgetzan, run to Steamwheedle Port and buy all the recipes from Gikkix.
Back to Gadgetzan, fly to Camp Mojache or Feathermoon Stronghold in Feralas and buy all the recipes from Sheendra Tallgrass or Vivianna.
Go to Verdantis River, Feralas (62,52) for Feralas Ahi
Next head to Sar'theris Strand, Desolace (25,77) for Sar'theris Striker
Get to Booty Bay however you want and find Kelsey Yance in the Old Port Authority building. Buy all of his recipes.
Go to Savage Coast, Stranglethorn Vale (33,32) for Savage Coast Blue Sailfin
Go to Misty Reed Strand, Swamp of Sorrows (90,73) for Misty Reed Mahi Mahi
Go to Dustwallow Marsh and see Nat Pagle (58,60) again. Turn in Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme and get Nat's Lucky Fishing Pole. Click for more info on fishing poles.
At this point we're going to concentrate on Cooking since you can fish anywhere and still level. Fishing for 10-20 minutes (1-2 lures) at each location should get your cooking where it needs to be.
Go to Azshara.
Start near the shore (I like (50,50) on the ruins jutting into the water). Cook to at least 250.
Move out to The Bay of Storms (on the island with Scalebeard's Cave (54,50) is a good spot).
Cook to 300 (You will need Refreshing Spring Water to cook the lobsters, so save them until you get to a vendor). If you want to stay here until Fishing 275, feel free.
Don't forget to get Refreshing Spring Water.
Time for Outland.
Head for Thrallmar or Honor Hold and train Cooking from Baxter or Gaston. Cook the rest of the fish from Azshara.
Horde get all the recipes from Rungor (Stonebreaker Hold, Terokkar Forest), Nula the Butcher (Garadar, Nagrand), Gambarinka (Zabra'jin, Zangermarsh), and Zurai (Swamprat Post, Zangarmarsh).
Alliance get recipes from Innkeeper Biribi (Allgerean Stronghold, Terokkar Forest), Uriku (Telaar, Nagrand), and Doba (Orebor Harborage, Zangarmarsh). You need to be at least Neutral with the Kurenai to talk to the last 2 NPCs.
Now Head to Cenarion Refuge, Zangarmarsh and buy all the recipes from Juno Dufrain. If your Fishing is 275, train it too.
Start in Umbrafen Lake (I like the island around (73,63)). After about 10 minutes (1 lure) here you can start working on your Fishing Achievements starting with Outland Angler.
Outland Angler locations:
Zangarmarsh: Brackish Mixed School, Sporefish School
Nagrand: Bluefish School, Mudfish School
Terokkar Forest: Brackish Mixed School, Highland Mixed School, School of Darter
Kylene (World's End Tavern, Shattrath) has 3 recipes, but you have to train them. Stewed Trout is skill 320, Fisherman's Feast and Hot Buttered Trout are 350.
Cook to at least 350.
Here are the Cooking Trainers in Northrend. Get all the recipes.
Rollick MacKreel (Valiance Keep, Borean Tundra)
Brom Brewbaster (Valgarde, Howling Fjord)
Katherine Lee (A Hero's Welcome, Dalaran)
Orn Tenderhoof (Warsong Hold, Borean Tundra)
Thomas Kolichio (Vengeance Landing, Howling Fjord)
Awilo Lon'gomba (Sunreaver's Sanctuary, Dalaran)
Make sure you do the quest Northern Cooking (there are 2 versions for each Faction), you will need the reward later for one of the Cooking Dailies. You can't get this quest in Dalaran!!
The recipes, requiring fish, that will get you from 350 - 400 are:
Baked Manta Ray
Grilled Sculpin
Pickled Fangtooth
Poached Nettlefish
Smoked Salmon
After 400 you will need to do the Dalaran Cooking Dailies (listed below) to get new recipes and Northern Spices. You can get the dailies at Cooking 350, but the recipes require Cooking 400 to learn. Pick the one(s) you like and cook them to 450.
Here are the Fishing Trainers in Northrend.
Old Man Robert (Valiance Keep, Borean Tundra)
Byron Welwick (Valgarde, Howling Fjord)
Fishy Ser'ji (Warsong Hold, Borean Tundra)
Angelina Soren (Vengeance Landing, Howling Fjord)
Marcia Chase (The Eventide, Dalaran)
In between catching fish to level Cooking, you can work on your Fishing Achievements to get some cool rewards and the "Salty" title. Catch stuff until you're 450.
Cheese for Glowergold:
Get 6 Half Full Dalaran Wine Glasses and Aged Dalaran Limburger. The wine glasses are found in your faction's Inn, in the Legerdemain Lounge, and One More Glass, the wine & cheese shop, where you will also loot the cheese. Right click the Empty Cheese Serving Platter to create the cheese platter for Ranid Glowergold at Legendary Leathers.
Convention at the Legerdemain:
Bring 4 Northern Stew (requires 4 Chilled Meat) and a Jug of Wine (looted in Dalaran's wine & cheese shop, One More Glass) to Arille Azuregaze at the Legerdemain Lounge in Dalaran. You must have completed the quest Northern Cooking (there are 2 versions for each faction) offered by a Grand Master Cooking Trainer (not the ones in Dalaran) in order to have the recipe required to complete this quest.
Infused Mushroom Meatloaf:
Get 4 Infused Mushrooms and 2 Chilled Meat, cook them in the Meatloaf Pan to make Infused Mushroom Meatloaf for Orton Bennet at Curiosities & Moore. The mushrooms are in Dalaran's Underbelly as lootable objects. Herbalists can track the mushrooms.
Mustard Dogs!:
Get 4 Wild Mustard and 4 Rhino Dogs (requires 4 Rhino Meat). Right click on the Empty Picnic Basket to make a Mustard Dog Basket to bring to Archmage Pentarus at Krasus' Landing. The Rhino Meat can be found on any rhino in Northrend and the Wild Mustard is a lootable plant found in grassy areas of Dalaran. Herbalists can track the mustard. This quest awards two Dalaran Cooking Awards instead of one!
Sewer Stew:
Get 4 Crystalsong Carrots and 4 Chilled Meat, cook them in the Stew Cookpot and bring it to Ajay Green behind the counter of Cantrips and Crows in Dalaran's Underbelly. The Crystalsong Carrots can be found around the river in Crystalsong Forest and can be difficult to see, even with the sparkles. Herbalists can track the carrots.

This guide is intended to give you simple step-by-step directions to get your level 40+ Alliance character from zero to 300 in both cooking and fishing at the same time. It is not the only way to skill-up these professions, but it is a very easy way that requires a minimum of travel and keeps you in relatively safe areas. I created this guide because the only fishing/cooking combination guides I could find were written for horde characters. I used bits of this guide as a starting point and filled it out with specifics for us good guys. All drop percentages and location details were borrowed from Thottbot and Allakhazam.
A note on fishing: Fishing levels up at the same rate no matter where you fish. It is entirely possible to go from 1 to 300 skill points without ever leaving a newbie zone (except for training and the artisan quest, obviously). This would be incredibly boring and you wouldn't get all the useful / lucrative fish (not to mention not being able to skill-up cooking at the same time), but it will take no longer than if you fish in level-appropriate areas.
Apprentice fishing and cooking (1-75)
Journeyman Fishing and Cooking (50-150)
Expert Fishing and Cooking (125-225)
Artisan Fishing and Cooking (225-300)
Good luck, happy fishing, and bon apetit!
Tozzik's 1-400 No Fishing Cooking Guide
Stage 1: Azeroth
A: Collecting recipes
Train cooking and then re-open trainer window and train spice bread. (May not have to re-open)
Buy Recipe: Bat Bites and Recipe: Crunchy Spider Surprise from Master Chef Mouldier in Tranquillien.
Go to Desolace. Buy Expert Cookbook from Wulan in Shadowprey Village. Buy all cooking recipes from Vendor-Tron 1000 and Super-Seller 680 at North and South-West locations. (see note at end)
Learn Soothing Turtle Bisque from quest given by Christoff Jeffcoat. If you have already done this quest and no longer have the recipe, then substitute Roast Raptor, also purchased from Vendor-Tron 1000.
Purchase Recipe: Charred Bear Kabob and Recipe: Juicy Bear Burger from Bale in Bloodvenom Post.
Learn Smoked Desert Dumplings from Calandrath at Cenarion Hold in Silithus. (Alternatively purchase Recipe: Baked Salmon from Sheena Tallgrass in Camp Mojache if you happen to have high level fishing.)
B:Farming/Cooking
Starting in Silvermoon
Purchase simple flour and mild spices from cooking vendor and cook spiced bread until reaching 40.
Farm small eggs from dragonhawks outside Silvermoon and make herb baked eggs until reaching 65.
Fly to Ghostlands and farm bats and spiders for Bat Flesh and Crunchy Spider Legs. Cooking the Bat Flesh should get you to 110 and Spider Legs should allow you to reach 120.
Travel to Tarren Mill and hunt bears and turtles along the river to the east until you have 5 big bear meat. Cook 5 Big Bear Steak and reach 125 to learn Hot Lion Chops. Learn expert cooking from Cookbook.
Now go to the two raised areas in alterac just to the west of the alliance entrance to Alterac Valley and farm mountain lions. If they don't respawn fast enough you can also hunt them in Hillsbrad just south of that same area. Farm/cook lion meat until you reach 175.
Now farm turtle meat from snapjaws along the river east of Tarren Mill. Or if you were not able to attain Recipe: Soothing Turtle Bisque, fly to hammerfall and farm raptors outside the town there. Cook Roast Raptor or Turtle Bisque(Preferably the Bisque) until 225.
Now travel to Gadgetzan and get the quest Clamlette Surprise from Dirge Quickcleave.
The Giant Eggs are most easily farmed from owls in Felwood. The Zesty Clam Meat is most easily farmed from turtles on the eastern coast of Hinterlands. If you only want to make one trip, the various owlkin in Hinterlands can also drop Giant Eggs at a lower rate. Once you have the eggs and clam meat, head back to Gadgetzan and run to Caverns of time where you can buy the Alterac Swiss from Provioner Galgrom. Hand in the quest and you are now at Artisan Cooking.
Now continue farming Turtle Meat or Raptor Flesh from the above locations until you can cook enough to reach 250. (The last 15 points of this process are green skill chance, but still better than the alternative.)
Learn Charred Bear Kabob and Juicy Bear Burger and farm bears all through Felwood. Cook any combination of these two items until reaching 285.
Travel to Cenarion Hold in Silithus and Start farming the various worms in Silithus until you have enough Sandworm Meat to reach 300. (Or fish for Raw Whitescale Salmon in Eastern Plaguelands if you have a high fishing skill. You need to achieve about 400 fishing skill with lures to avoid fish getting away.)
Stage 2: Outland.
Travel to Thrallmar and purchase Master Cookbook from Baxter inside the inn. Then Purchase Recipe: Ravager Dogs from Cookie One-Eye near the stables in Thrallmar.
Fly to Falcon Watch and farm ravagers in the quillfang area just to the west of the town. Cook Ravager Dogs until reaching 325.
Fly to Garadar and buy Recipe: Roasted Clefthoof and Recipe: Talbuk Steak from Nula the Butcher who is in the small building on the raised area just to the east of the inn. Farm and cook Clefthoof Meat and Talbuk Venison until reaching 350.
Stage 3: Northrend
Travel to Warsong Hold in Borean Tundra and train grand master cooking and all the new cooking recipes. Exit warsong hold and farm rhinos to the north and northeast of the hold, cooking Rhino Dogs until reaching 400. (The last 18 points of this are green skill chance, but the only alternative is to prepare 18+ feasts which has a very high material requirement and would end up being a much longer farming session.)
Getting to 450 is totally a matter of preference. The only skill of note beyond this point is Fish Feast and this guide is designed to level cooking without fishing. All recipes requiring skill 400 and up require 3 Dalaran Cooking Awards to purchase and Northern Spices cost one award.
Note about Vendor-Tron 1000 and Super-Seller 680:
Both bots are part of the caravan that travels around Desolace. 1000 can be found at 60, 38 just northwest of Kormek's Hut. 680 can be found at 40, 80 just west of the split in the road leading south. The most important note about these vendors is that you must travel the entire road between these two points and locate the caravan, waiting for it to start moving. If you are not following the caravan and it leaves your range of vision it will stop moving.
Cooking is a profession that provides flavor to the game, no pun intended. Most mobs labeled as beasts have common drops for cooking. You can also take up fishing which will ease the pain of cooking and make the trip to Grand Master easier. This guide will support several options for everyone, even those with a strong aversion to fishing.

Several of the patterns I have mentioned are obtained through quests but have a faction alternate that can be obtained by vendor. If you have finished these quests in the past and have sold or trashed them, you will need to find a way to obtain them through the opposing faction vendor or find an alternative. The only quest that both sides can do is for the Smoked Desert Dumplings.
Desert Dumplings
The quest you need to get this recipe is Desert Dumplings which is given by the Calandrath, the innkeeper of Cenarion Hold. Calandrath will send you out to find a recipe the Twilight's Hammer use to prepare sandworm. The scroll can be found at 37, 45 which will start you on the second portion to return to Calandrath with Sharing the Knowledge. Upon completion you will learn how to make Smoked Desert Dumplings, of which you might want to hang onto at least 10 of these. You can do the quick follow-up Kitchen Assistance for a little gold, rep, and maybe experience if you're not at the cap yet.
Runn Tum Tuber Surprise
As an alternative to Desert Dumplings should you not be able to obtain the recipe for some reason you could try Runn Tum Tuber Surprise. This is an uncommon drop from a boss mob in Dire Maul:
Pusillin: Recipe: Runn Tum Tuber Surprise
To engage Pusillin you need to enter through the East sides Northern/Front Entrance [MAP]. Most would recommend if you are familiar with the event that you clear the path all the way to the back entrance to Dire Maul located at the Laris Pavilion just north of Camp Mojache in Feralas. If you are not familiar with the event there are plenty of walk-thrus on how to go about this, but you can simply talk to him and he'll run away to start the event. Clear the path along the top tier till you find him again, if you are below level 70 you will NOT be able to avoid the the Warpwood Crushers even if you try to walk along the courtyard ledge. You may have to make this run once or twice, but this pattern is almost a guaranteed drop.
Once you have obtained this recipe you will be need to farm the Warpwood Pods scattered all about the instance. Be wary, they have a chance to backfire and either spray you with toxic green mist or spawn 3 to 5 Whip Lashers, but you should be able to get enough for that final run to 300.
By the end of this guide, expect to have caught roughly 3,000 fish give or take.
To start, simply visit a trainer in any of the cities (or one of the few outside), buy a pole and get to work!
You can level from 1 all the way to 450 in any fish-able water, meaning it is possible to stand in Orgrimar all day and fish the same pool. The only problem with that method is that after level 75, you only earn credit for the successful catch of actual fish and not the junk.
Another thing to note is that the higher your skill level, the more fish you will need to catch in order to obtain the next level in your skill. Usually 10 or more. A rough equation to figure this out would be;
For those of you with lowbie's who want to start fishing sooner and don't feel like running from the start zone to a major city, you can visit the following trainers to get you new skill.
When you are ready to learn Grand Master fishing and cap off that skill limit, you can visit;
And there you have it, a list of your basic fishing poles. They get the job done and for the most part, are quite easy to obtain. Well maybe not the Darkwood or Big Iron poles, but you get the point.
For those of you who want something more, here are some Unique, Rare and Epic rods you can try to snag while you have some time to kill.
What is the bonus to this? You can start fishing in waters above your skill level! What more could you possibly want? Not to mention that it helps you catch more fish and less junk, which after obtaining a skill level of 75 is extremely important. Let's work our way through the list.
So you just learned fishing, what to do next? Well fish of course. Starting at level 1, find any pond of water and start fishing with your shiny new fishing pole equipped. I would recommend staying close to the Trainer when you first start and train Journeyman once you reach 50.
At level 75 (or 50 if you bought some Nightcrawlers) you can head out to the Barrens and fish just outside of WC (Wailing Caverns). Some people might suggest you head inside the caverns themselves, but I would advise you not do that. Heading inside the caverns would mean having to fight through numerous mobs before reaching the fishing hole, and having to fend them off once they respawn. While that doesn't seem like a big deal, it can be frustrating at best. Especially when you are kind of zoned out and not expecting to have to quick swap to your weapons before you wipe.
If you feel like it, you can simply fish these waters until you reach 300. It may be monotonous, but you will come out of it with stacks of Deviate Fish which sell rather well on the AH. If you are one of the lucky few who have the recipe for Savory Deviate Delight, you can cook up a few and make even more of a profit at auction.
Remember to visit your trainer at 75, 150 and 225 to further your skills along and not hit the limit cap. If you do that, then your just wasting your time out there in the waters.
Congratulations, you are ready to master the art of fishing. To begin, visit the Grand Master Fishing Trainer in the Howling Fjord, Borean Tundra or Dalaran and learn the next level in the skill.
Before heading out, first make sure that you at least have your Strong Fishing Pole and a stack of Bright Baubles. Of course I am only assuming you are leveling using vendor quality items only. If not, bring something else as this is only the basic setup you will need.
Head out along the coasts of the Howling Fjord and get to work. At first you are going to fish up alot of junk (just like when we first started) but as your skill goes up, the amount of junk collected will go down.
To catch all fish and no junk, you need a collective skill of 475 or better, so don't be too disappointed. When I say a collective skill, I mean your natural skill abilities, PLUS you buffs meaning the additional increase given by your pole, and the attachments of lures to your pole.
If your character is at level 80, I would recommend heading to Wintergrasp to fish instead of the Borean Tundra. The fishing will be the same as far as the fish to junk ratio is concerned, but the keepers sell better on the AH.
Don't forget to visit your trainer again at 375 to obtain the Grand Master skill.
