How To Install:

  1. Download the addon using the big shiny button.

  2. Download TomTom from WoW Interface or Curse. TomTom is important! Without it, you won't see the arrow telling you where to go! Get version 1.4.2 or later.

  3. Unzip the downloaded files into your addons directory. (How do I unzip the file?)

    Windows XP location:

      C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons

    Windows Vista/7 location:

      C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons

    Mac location:

      Macintosh Main HD/Applications/World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons

  4. Log into the game. In the lower left-hand corner of your character select screen, you should see an "Addons" button. Click it. The WoW-Pro addon and TomTom should both be listed. Make sure they are checked, and you're ready to go!

I have just downloaded a trial and looked through some of the code, the few pieces I looked at was the same.  Then I checked the 1 - 20 guides.  I have copied the content of their Guides.xml, it looks remarkably like the one in the WOW Pro addon.

Hi, I know this might sound a little petty, but I just wanted to point out on the Deepholm Guide it tells you to get the quest "A Slight Problem" twice and doesn't tell you where to hand it in. It also jumps to "Rescue the Stonefather...and Flint" but doesn't tell you to pick it up, which is right after the previous quest. Just thought you would like to know ;)

Deepholm Guide Suggestion

On the Deepholm guide, an additional step would be of great help between steps 179 and 180 for "The Middle Fragment" quest.  Just something telling us to loot the middle fragment from the vault.  Made it all the way back to Yevaa before I realized I couldn't turn the quest in and had to fly back.

Talent Tree Guidance

I was thinking about that the other day, but I got bogged down by some of the math:

  • 10 classes
  • 3 talent trees each
  • Usually 2 minor variations within each tree
  • Possible PVP vs PVE builds
The obsessive, but smart people at Elitist Jerks I think have the best build information around. And building talent trees are a major issue with the DK guides as you build it quest-by-quest in the starting area. Most people just fill in everything and then end up having to respec later when they realize things are not the best they could be.

I'll put it in as a feature request, but it may be awhile.

Loch Modan zone

The guide for Loch Modan makes very little use of the "As You Go" tool, and in some places it would've been very useful. If needed I can find some specific places that it would be prudent to have the As You Go active. 

I also noticed a minor typo in the last word of the description text for the step where we turn in "Altar of Naias" in Northern Stranglethorn Vale guide.

You want to use the completion setting. There are three settings, just use the slider to change between them. The video metions how to do that at some point.

Got a little further along the Mulgor 1-12 guide; there are steps in the guide that send you to the lifts to take you down the cliffs. The one in Orgrimmar is about 5,000 yards off. :P

I guess I figured out my old account info! XD Jordanmiller and I are one and the same. I'll be using this account from now on, though. 

 

To make this post relevant, I found a minor glitch in the Mulgore 1-12 guide. 

When doing Thunderhorn Cleansing, the step that has you cleanse the well is automatically skipped over for some reason.

Some Mistakes I Found

I've been blazing through levels on my enhance shaman mostly using WKJezz's part of the guides. I've found a few glitches, though. 

  • In the Draenei starting zone Azuremyst Isle, something is wrong with the quest Alternative Alternative. When you do the quest, every time you do anything past that part of the guide it reverts back to this step and you have to skip it again, as well as another quest whose name escapes me. 
  • At the beginning of the Ashenvale guide, there's a step that says "Run here." it's the first run here step of this guide, and the dot is high up on an impossible to reach mountain. :p 
  • When you go back to Ashenvale to take the quest "A Trip to the Moonwell" a quest popped up for me in the inn which wasn't picked up by the guide that would send me to the next place that the guide says to go to, and another breadcrumb quest was given after turning in A Trip to the Moonwell. It doesn't overwrite the other breadcrumb quest, but it's barely a thousand XP, so, eh. 
  • During step 172/243 (Waypoint Series) You have us go all the way around the mountain chain, but there's a patch right in the middle of it. :)

Two updates for the addon (ok, a big one and a minor one) went past and the old Alliance-Icecrown guide is still in there... I didn't do all the work to revise the entire guide for it to rot on the source code page you know? ;)

Does it need further testing before you include it in the addon or did you just overlook it?

Before the update the addon was working great, gained 7 levels in one day. However, since the update as soon as I log in I get an error message. I tried to copy and paste the message but couldn't, the error was coming from the parser. wish I could be more helpful. Thanks for all the hard work

I think Blizzard changed some interfaces in 4.0.6 and some of my other addons have had problems and have issued updates over the past few days.

addon brainfart

Alliance, was in thousand needles. Downloaded the latest version, and as soon as I log in I get an error message. As I said though it will not allow me to copy and paste, though the message was saying the error occured in the parser lau. Don't remember the full name of the file.

Ashenvale horde

Hey, I dont know what happened, but the horde ashenvale guide seems pretty screwed since the update last night... I was in the middle of the guide when I did the update, but now its missing a great lot of quests that were in the previous version... Pretty annoying. I hope it's just a wrong file in the update or something like that.

Alliance Icecrown Guide

I wasn't really happy with the questing guide the addon uses for Alliance-Icecrown, seems to me like it was copied over from an unfinished Horde-Guide (some of the QIDs were of Horde quests) so I decided to write my own and would now like to share it with you. I'm posting it here in the comments since I'm not allowed to write in the forums with my newly created account :P

The guide is playtested partially since I had already completed most of the quests around the Shadow Vault (in this guide from "It's All Fun and Games" until "Blackwatch") before I decided to make my own guide and to test the part I already completed I would have to create a new character and level him up first :P

Any time a PTR is up, testing is easy, as you can make a max level character and test with that

What you have is almost certainly superior to what we had for Alliance Icecrown. I give my permission for you to copy it into the source code page for that guide if you like (and it would be most helpful if you wanted to do so!). Make sure to replace the author name with your own so you get credit.

I'm pretty sure the old guide was simply a straight up Tour Guide recording that one of our users did, which records a lot less information than even our recorders most basic setting, so what you have is most certainly an upgrade!
