Cataclysm Alliance & Horde Leveling Guides! (1-80)

Snowflake's picture

After exhausting yourself playing Wildstar and utilizing everything you can find at Killer Guides, it might be time to go back to the classics. That’s right: WoW!
You'll find the list of our Cataclysm Ready leveling guides in readable format. All the guides on wow-pro are FREE, there is no trick, they are just free and will remain free. Enjoy and please contribute!

Tips

Here's how to enjoy the guides as much as possible, even if you don't have a 2nd monitor, you can either:

1. Print the guides. There is a "Printer Friendly Version" link at the bottom of every guide, you just have to click on it. However, that might be expansive (and probably expensive), because the guides are big, very big. Another downside is that my guides are updated very frequently, so if you print it you'll miss the latest updates.

2. Playing WOW in Windowed Mode feels very comfortable while following along with this guide.

  • Keep the guide opened in an internet window
  • Log in to World of Warcraft, press Escape and go to Video Options, tick the following boxes:

Click on "Apply".

Your screen will look exactly as if you were playing wow in full screen mode, besides you will be able to ALT-TAB to the guide INSTANTLY.

This is how I play wow while following my guide, when I don't feel like booting up my 2nd computer :)

3. If you don't like any of those options, then you should definitely try our in-game addon version of our leveling guides. Simply click the link below:

Yes, I'd love having some

Yes, I'd love having some Goblin-fun! I'm actually thinking of making guides for starting zones (1-5) for all classes that do not yet have guides, and then I'll move on to making regional zone guides for levels 5-11. Example: "Durotar 5-11 leveling guide", or "Dun Morogh 5-11 leveling guide".I think I'll make some sort of post or blog entry later concering my upcoming guides. And yes, it's great to be back! :)

Manovan's Troll Guide

Just wanted to mention that the Troll guide is currently being reworked into a full Durotar 1-12 guide with the perspective of a troll character. The guide won't be closed so you will be able to read it and follow its progression, but it will look like a total mess soon enough.

However, I would like to know if demonco who said he'd code it a long time ago is still up for the job. If not, I will remove him from the list of helpers. In addition to this, I want to mention that I may only be able to work on the guide during weekends, so I can't give a good date on when it will be done. Hopefully next week but no promises.

Edit: Oh, I noticed there was a 5-12 Durotar guide that is perfectly compatible with the Troll guide already. I suppose there's really no need for me to do this. I'll move on to Tirisfal Glades then.

To all the guide publishers

Can I just say, long time guide user, 1st time poster, your guides are awesome! I've levelled 3 80's using your various guides and am currently working on a hunter (74 and just tamed Arcturius Laughing out loud) and a frost mage (thanks Kwaice)19 and storming through Ghostlands. I've recommended your guides to my guildies and I know a few have downloaded the addon version and they say the same, "how the hell is something this good, free?" Enough said I guess. Keep up the good work Jame et al

Could you replace the link to Taralom's night elf guide with a link to mine please? When I wrote mine 1,5 years ago it was with updated quest circuits. Even though mine too is outdated of today's standards, it's still the newer of the two.

Summer vacation is around the corner, I'll look into it in a week or so. That's actually a pretty good idea, I'll check if the guides are up to date. If they're not, they will be marked as outdated =)

I'll handle it, although I'll have to complete my exams first. Guess I'll run through ALL the guides next week and see if they're dated or not.

I agree that this is something that should be done more often. But since there are no guide writing policies saying that it's mandatory to do so, people tend not to think about it. But good post with a good suggestion. I'm sure guide writers will do this for future guides.

Sorry about my last comment, it was for the wrong guide (I was at the wrong page when posting...). I just hope the moderator catches that error, in which case this apology will not be needed. Smiling

Hi Newtimer, and welcome to WoW-Pro. No worries, we all make mistakes. Unfortunately I can't move your comment to the correct guide myself - however if you copy and paste your comment there yourself, I can delete this one for you Eye

Thanks for offering feedback, and keep it up!

Edit: Saw that you copied the comment, so I deleted the one here.

Cataclysm

What now? Shocked with the new cataclysm updates to the old content, will it be the end of the guide, or is starting all over again the answer? O.o

Quest-box-thingie Gone

Hello, About the new patch that fucked everything up, I (stupid as I am) threw the box down below my spellbar. Now I'm not able to get my box up again, so that I can continue questing.

Help please :<

Press escape, go to

Press escape, go to interface, go to the addon tab, find Tour Guide in the list. You should have an option that resets the box to it's default position, which is under your mini map. From there you should be able to move it to wherever you want it.

Hope this helps!

Term Paper

A level behind

I started this guide at level 33, however I seem to be a level behind in the guides. I was wondering if you have any advice on how to catch up on this level as fast as possible. Thanks!

Jiyambi's picture

I would recommend doing a

I would recommend doing a couple of instances, if you can get a group. Either that, or just kill any mobs that are on the way as you do quests. Eventually you will catch up.

Thanks

Thanks, this worked great XD

Dual with druid and lock

I don't think this is the appropriate place to put this but anyhow, i was wondering if someone would know what's the best tree to go into for a druid/warlock combo (for both of them). Thanks in advance Smiling

This is my signature

druid/lock

well im gonna assume u mean best leveling spec:

druid: without a doubt feral. balance is fun too but not as efficient as feral(for leveling). its cool for casting; plus at level 40 u get moonkin(which is awesome btw). resto is for healing(mostly for instances).

warlock: affliction. alot of people assume demonology but they are wrong(mostly). blizz made the affliction tree specifically for the LEAST amt. of downtime. this tree makes ur curses hurt more and cost less. most people see the demonology specc as the beast mastery specc for hunters, and it kind of is. but affliction remains as the best choice for leveling.

hope this helped, gl, cya.

Currently working on a Draenei Hunter to raid with some friends, and I find the Alliance guides to be working well.

My only qualm is that I hadn't remembered they had a 12-20 guide until I was already 15! Sticking out tongue

awsome guides Smiling i lvled 5 chars 2 80 in 6 months Cool but couldnt you add a few dungeons the the guides it would be awsomer Laughing out loud

Amazed

So I started a brand new toon with the stone keeper shard shoulders and decided to try out this guide.

I just hit 70 last night on him in the horde Nagrand guide.
Not wanting to head to northrend yet i've decided to keep going along in outland.
Just wanted to give you props for the guide.

Man! Im leveling FAST!!

I started this guide about 3-4 days ago and im already on level 28! I plan on getting to level 30 tomorrow, so about 30 levels in 5 days is really good progress (for me at least). I figure at this rate i can get to level 80 in about a month at most. Its all thanks to the your leveling guides. Keep it up.

-Kane23

Yep, Level 30

Well i got from level 28-30 today like i predicted. It only took me about 2-3 hours. Just thought I'd throw my progress out there. This guide is AWESOME!

-Kane23

BTW if anyone wants to look my character up, I am on the Garrosh realm under the name of Hawaiianbrah(as of now a level 30 hunter.)

Speed Leveling

I have read about guys who "speed" or "power" level and get to lvl 80 or so in about a week or two. I was wondering, do your guides provide the information on how to do this, or is there a better, faster way to level than this? I am asking because i want to level as fast as i can.

THX, Kane23

Can you add a link to where i can get the addon please? Also, how does your leveling addon work?

Jiyambi's picture

Here is the page with the addon information and download links. Basically the addon is a step by step guide to what to do to level through questing. Almost all the steps auto-complete when you finish them, and an arrow appears showing you where to go next. It's completely stress-free leveling, and very fast!

Maw's picture

Speaking of stress, when I

Speaking of stress, when I followed Joana's Horde Leveling Guide, I were almost constantly stressed about which quests to take or not because he weren't (and isn't) too specific on which quests to take or not.

But with now, while following WoW-pro guides, I'm never concerned whether I have the correct quests at the correct time, and when to turn them in.

Hi all! I'm in love with

Hi all! I'm in love with this site and the addon. Thanks to everyone who contributed to it. Have one question though, the arrow that's supposed to point me to the objective isn't showing up. I've downloaded the guide, tomtom, lighthead and tour guide. I tried turning on QuestHelper at the same time and I got two arrows, one was TomTom and the other was QH. Any help on this please because I am an addon noob. Thanks in advance! Smiling

Jiyambi's picture

Hmm, well you probably don't

Hmm, well you probably don't want questhelper's arrow enabled at the same time since it will most likely not point you to the same place. What guide/faction are you using and what step are you on? Or does this occur for all steps in the guide you are using?

The guide is still being refined and some locations are missing, so it might just be that.

RESPECT!

Hello Jame! I'm from Russia, i want to thank you for this wonderful guides! I think Your site is THE BEST! Eye

These guids will show you

These guids will show you most of the solo/questing content available at the moment. They are very up-to-date and almost always cover 100% (or close to that number, depending on the effectivity) quests available in the zone. As an example, you get quest achievements on all zones in WOTLK if you follow these guides. It gets harder as your level up because the amount of group quests not soloable is increasing but all of them are covered in the guides.

I have leveled 5 characters to lvl60+ before I found this site. I have been to areas and did quests on my newest character (following these guides) that I have never seen or done before.

Thanks for the feedback

Thanks for replying Laughing out loud
Have downloaded the Addon ( which is just a dream, and am now questing away )

Thanks again

Do the guides show you most of the content

Im thinking of using a this excellent looking guide, but have a question about them.
Do they show alot of the content of warcraft?
Say for example if i followed them from 30 thru to 80, I would obviously get to 80 very quickly and efficiently but would i miss say 80% of the backstory of Warcraft ?
Sorry if ive put that badly. Im a lvl 20 Hunter and I dont just get the time so sit and really hit wow. So a guide would be great for me but i dont want to miss the backstory / lore of warcraft. Im assuming the quests show you some if it but I guess you dont do all the quests in the questlines.

Just wondered in your opionion what the trade off is if any Laughing out loud

Thanks

Jame's picture

It's all the opposite,

It's all the opposite, you'll see MORE of the lore of WoW if you follow these guides, as they make you do a tremendous amount of quests, moreso than what you could do on your own, I guarantee you that Smiling

At least, that's what every person who followed our guides said Eye

Benhir's picture

30-40 questing in STV.

Today I was browsing through the wow offical forums and I occasionaly found a post of a player who's using Jame's guides (horde side) but can't quest efficently in STV due to the level 60-80 playes ganking (clearly on a PvP server). So I was wondering, are there any alternatives at STV? I suggested to do some other areass and don't care about doing quests that Jame will include in the guide because every one will eventually finish way ahead of the guides. But, maybe, more expert players can suggest more interesting things. Another thing I think can be good is just to skip STV parts and go on with the guide, anyway there is always a chance to recover the "lost" xp and finish ahead.

Any thoughts? Sticking out tongue

New quest in zul'drak

In 3.0.8 blizzard added a new quest to Zul'Drak so that people will be able to get the quest achievement easier. You get it from Chronicler To'kini in Zim'Torga, you can get more info at WoW Insider
